This was our second time staying at this house and we will probably keep coming back. The residence is on a quiet street and is well furnished and in great condition. Our normal routine was to sleep in, have a late breakfast on the fantastic screened porch overlooking the canal, and then bike to the beach. We normally went to Swan's Cove. In the afternoon we'd relax on the porch or watch cable in AC comfort. We found the WIFI to be dependable and so (sadly) were able to stay up-to-date with work. This time we even tried a little bit of crabbing in the canal behind the house (pulled up only one large enough to eat--all the rest were little fellas we threw back). In the evenings we never went out but cooked our meals and ate on the porch. The kitchen is well furnished and has just about everything you'd need for easy vacation dining. If you're looking for bright lights and boardwalk action, this isn't the place for you. But if you want a lazy, relaxing time, then spend it here!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

My wife and I just spent a week here. This was a delightful week for much needed rest and relaxation. The house is a marvel. Immaculately kept with beautiful touches of art throughout. If you are looking for night life and partying, you should probably look further north in Maryland. But, if you are looking for some time to repair and ease your mind from the day to day grind, this is the place for you. Whims is definitely on the list for a repeat visit.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

Our family stayed here during the first week of July. We could not have asked for a better vacation rental. The bedroom and living room furniture was incredibly comfortable. The house was tastefully decorated and well-equipped with all of the kitchen utensils/supplies we needed. The screened in porch was wonderful. We brought kayaks and a canoe and used the dock to explore the bay. The location is quiet and removed from the more touristy areas, but only a mile or so away. Perfect location! We enjoyed a scenic cruise with Chincoteague Cruises and a fishing trip with Marshland Charters. I would highly recommend both establishments. We were a bit disappointed with the restaurants on the island, though we did enjoy takeout from Captain Zack's and scallops at Don's.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband, grandson and I spent a week here this June. The house was fully equipped with everything we could possible need including cutting boards, knives, pots and pans and a refrigerator with an ice maker. There are 2 bathrooms as well. The only things we had to bring were sheets, towels and a hairdryer. The house is located on a canal and has a dock for kayaking. Unfortunately we could not bring our kayaks this trip so we were unable to take advantage of it. The screened porch was great for playing games and having breakfast. The home is equipped with Monopoly, Trouble and other board games as well as bird identification books. We saw a pair of green herons and a hummingbird from the porch. The open concept living/dining/kitchen area was perfect since our grandson could eat in the kitchen area while watching TV without fear of spilling anything on the carpet. The decor is very tasteful with a hint of whimsey-a carved wooden hand holding magazines, an ostrich with an egg nightlight, a troll carved into a tree stump, retro furniture in the master bedroom. Our only regret is that we wanted to stay for 2 weeks, but the home was already booked for the second week. In the past 20 year we've visited about six times booking through one of the real estate agencies. This is by far the best home we have stayed in on Chincoteague. If I knew what our schedule was for next summer, I would make reservations again now. Our grandson made friends on the beach everyday and enjoyed miniature golf with grandpa while I went shopping. There are a couple of antique shops in town and a lovely gift shop, The Brant on Maddox Boulevard. This is a wonderful place for a family vacation and the owners have created a wonderful home away from home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I spend the week of 8/7/11 at this home and couldn't have been more pleased! This is a perfect house for a family of 4. The location is so quiet and beautiful. The house is spotless, modernized and very well equipped. We just loved it and can't wait to go back! The screened in porch is so relaxing. You won't be disappointed with this home! Owners are also great to work with.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Chincoteague is a favorite vacation destination for our family. This is by far the nicest home we have stayed at on the island. The location was especially nice. We rented a kayak for the week and loved being able to launch it from the dock right outside the home. The screened porch in back was WONDERFUL!! When not going out to restaurant for dinner, we would eat our meals out there. Having a cup of coffee in the early morning on the porch was so relaxing. The island is small enough to bike anywhere, as we did for breakfasts. The beach on Assateague is clean and beautiful. We highly recommend this house and Chincoteague is an excellent family vacation destination. WHIMS was wonderful!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

My wife, I and our two children (ages 4 and 2) went to Chincoteague for the first time. I was so happy we stayed at WHIMS. When we walked in the front door we were almost giddy. It was perfectly clean, nicely air-conditioned, great kitchen and laundry as you walk in, big living room with cozy seating, and the bedrooms were great. The master bedroom was large and had a spacious sink area and bathroom/shower area. The kids room was great and they even have an office with a pull out bed (from the couch). I even used the internet. We ate all our meals in the back porch that was screened in with a nice view. And the place was close to everything we wanted to do (beach, museum, fishing, pony rides) or course the island is small anyway so you're never far from where you want to go. Our kids like "Mr Whippie's" ice cream...I know, I know, there are more authentic ice cream spots, but what are you going to do.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

We loved so much this house that we rented it again this year for a week. This was the only bad thing about our vacation, it was too short. Hope will do it again next year!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

We, three adults, spent three days here in mid May. The accommodation was exactly as described in the ad. Very comfortable and well equipped. The situation in a quiet area on a canal was very attractive. I would recommend this property. We visited Assateague where the visitors center is excellent and of course the wildlife is interesting. We didn't do much walking as it was very windy. We toured Chincoteague by car and discovered a nice little park with a children's play area. As it was out of season many of the small stores were not open. We only ate out once and bought food at the small supermarket where prices were comparable to where I live. We all enjoyed this short vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We stayed one week in mid August and had a very good time. The cottage is well and tastefully furnished in a quiet neighborhood with a beautiful view down a canal. The best feature is the large screened porch. We had all our meals on the porch and loved it.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.
