- Minimum stay:Contact owner
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Constructed June 2006 with approximately 2,100 square feet of centrally heated and cooled living area. The house features three bedrooms, two and-a-half baths, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, laundry room and a large living area. The Master bedroom is located on the first floor and features a full bath that includes a shower, as well as a whirlpool tub, and a double vanity.
The Master bedroom also features a huge king sleigh bed with a NASA memory foam mattress for the perfect night's rest. The two other bedrooms are located upstairs with a full combination bathtub/shower and double vanity. Each floor has a separate thermostat to control the temperature. In addition, to the other two bedrooms there are two self-inflating, full-sized mattress.
The den/living area is approximately 24' by 16' with glass windows across the back for a breathtaking view of Smith Lake. There is ample seating as well as a 60' wide screen television.
Great place to swim and fish from the boat dock. There is ample boat docking if you decide to bring a boat, as well as two jet ski pads to dock your jet skis. A boat launch is available at Houston Recreation Area approximately seven miles from the lake house. There are several locations on the lake to purchase fuel; however, be aware the prices are considerably higher on the water. Bait and other boating needs are also available at several locations in the area. Smith lake is the third cleanest lake in the United States and offers a tremendous opportunity for fishing. (Bass, Striper, Crappie, Bream, or even Rainbow Trout)
There are three restaurants, two grocery stores, and a coffee shop within eight to ten minutes.

My two teenage boys and my mom arrived for three nights and were very happy that the house and surroundings matched what we had seen on the website. The house is spacious and comfortably furnished, and the bedrooms are HUGE. We really enjoyed cooking breakfast in the kitchen, grilling hamburges and hotdogs on the grill, and going out to dinner at local restaurants - much better and more relaxing than staying in a hotel. The view from the back porch over the lake is amazing: a great place for a morning cup of coffee before the teenagers wake up. The stairs leading down to to the boat dock are steep and many, but I got a lot of excercise! We would definitely go back with family or friends again. The owners were very nice. They were able to accomodate my last minute booking and were available by e-mail and phone to answer questions, go over details, and give local recommendations.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: We always are happy to hear that our renters have enjoyed their stay at Houston's Hideaway and look forward to future return visits. Thank you for taking such good care of our home and for taking the time to give us such a glowing recommendation!!!

My family and I spent a long weekend at Houston's Hideaway and it was great. The furnishings are very nice and comfortable. My boys are 8 and 10 and they were very happy catching rock bass off the dock. No big fish caught but they didn't care. If I come back to the area for any reason, I plan to detour and stay here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind remarks!!! We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and hope you will book with us again in the future.

My husband, son and I stayed here a week in August and had a fabulous time. The house is beautiful and the view of the lake is gorgeous. We had everything we needed in the house and it was very comfortable. We enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning and spending time in the lake in the afternoon and evening. We did a lot of hiking which brought us to some amazing waterfalls. Living in a beach community it was nice to get away to a quiet relaxing lake. The week was exactly what we were looking for, relaxing and fun. Definitely plan on staying here again next summer.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: So glad y'all had such a great time at the lake!!!! We just got back from there today -- nothing like it!!! Thank you for the wonderful review and we will look forward to hearing from you next summer!!!

Starting with the kindness & responsiveness of the owners, to the wonderful home to the perfect location on the lake ... Houston Hideaway makes for a memorable vacation. Our family of four (two teenage boys) spent a week here in the summer. The stairs were not an issue for us but may be for some renters. We could not get enough of hanging out on the dock and swimming & boating right off the property. Fishing a little slow in late July but that is to be expected. The house itself is impeccably clean and well-maintained. Nothing but great things to say for the entire experience. Thanks for the chance to enjoy your home and the lake.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We appreciate your kind comments and are glad you and your family had a good visit and hope you will return.

Houston Hideaway is a slice of earthly Heaven!!!! The view, the home, the water, the people of the area, and the location are just beautiful and priceless!!! The owners of this home are the most gracious and accommodating people you will find. My family has stayed in many rental places in many areas of Smith Lake, and this has to be the best of all. We love it here, and we will be back. This is now our only choice for our rental home on Smith Lake. Thank you for sharing your lovely place with me and my family.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

My wife and I rented this beautiful property for the week of November 28 to December 5, 2011. This was our first time at Smith lake and we just fell in love with it. We had the most wonderful experience during our stay, and our stress level just vanished gazing at the lake from the deck! The pictures and description of the home on this site do no do justice to the beauty of the home and natural surroundings. An added bonus was just how clean the home was... it was as if a cleaning service had left the house spotless. We absolutely loved sitting on the porch overlooking the lake as we drank our morning coffee... we also enjoyed sitting out while the sun set. We would recommend this property to anyone!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We had a great time at your home this past week. All the rooms were large and the beds were comfy. There were eight of us and were able to spread out and enjoy ourselves. The dock was great as well. The ladies spent plenty of time reading on the back deck and the deck overlooking the lake. We will have to do this again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The house was just what we expected and then some. The photos are helpful, but it is even more beautiful when you are there. The home was very comfortable, relaxing, and clean and the owners were extremely courteous and helpful, always available to assist with any questions or concerns. We would recommend this property to all and we hope to be able to return ourselves! Thank you very much!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

This was a remarkably spotless, and first class property. The information shown on this page is accurate, the host Ronny is a super sane, very gratious and personable landlord. The back deck, wooden walk way to the lake and sunset, lakeside perch were worth the price ... even without the nice house. If you are looking for a classy, on-the lake getaway ... this is it. I would, and will, stay here again ....Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
