My wife and I rented this beautiful property for the week of November 28 to December 5, 2011. This was our first time at Smith lake and we just fell in love with it. We had the most wonderful experience during our stay, and our stress level just vanished gazing at the lake from the deck! The pictures and description of the home on this site do no do justice to the beauty of the home and natural surroundings. An added bonus was just how clean the home was... it was as if a cleaning service had left the house spotless. We absolutely loved sitting on the porch overlooking the lake as we drank our morning coffee... we also enjoyed sitting out while the sun set. We would recommend this property to anyone!

We stayed at Houston Hideaway twice last year... And I loved it both times... It is a very nice place.... I had zero complaints about this place either time I was there...There is a great view of the lake from this home as well....I would def. recommend this place to a friend....

Awesome vacation home

We had a great time at your home this past week. All the rooms were large and the beds were comfy. There were eight of us and were able to spread out and enjoy ourselves. The dock was great as well. The ladies spent plenty of time reading on the back deck and the deck overlooking the lake. We will have to do this again.

The house was just what we expected and then some. The photos are helpful, but it is even more beautiful when you are there. The home was very comfortable, relaxing, and clean and the owners were extremely courteous and helpful, always available to assist with any questions or concerns. We would recommend this property to all and we hope to be able to return ourselves! Thank you very much!

Well Worth The Price and the Drive

This was a remarkably spotless, and first class property. The information shown on this page is accurate, the host Ronny is a super sane, very gratious and personable landlord. The back deck, wooden walk way to the lake and sunset, lakeside perch were worth the price ... even without the nice house. If you are looking for a classy, on-the lake getaway ... this is it. I would, and will, stay here again ....

The house was clean, comfortable, and even nicer than it appears in the photos. There's plenty of private space for swimming beside the dock and the rocky shoreline was amazing. Also, there's a relatively new grocery store in Arley that was great for picking up almost anything we could have needed. Everyone had a great time and felt it was a great value.

We stay a week at Smith Lake every year. This was the first year at Houston Hideaway, but we will be back! We have two teenage boys and they each brought a friend. There was plenty of room. The beds were comfy, and we liked the self inflating mattress too. Of course the big screen TV and the whirlpool tub were nice treats. Everything is new and beautiful. Houston Hideaway is on a great area of the lake as well. We spend a lot of time on the water and we were concerned about whether we would like the location of the lake house in relation to where it was on the lake. We liked it better than the other areas we have stayed! I really appreciated the promptness in which the owners always got back to us. They were very easy to work with.

For the 2nd visit, it was as nice as the first. We've stayed at six different places on this lake and this is the most accommodating owners we've come across. This cabin is the best equipped and a very clean place to stay. Beware of listings on VRBO that don't offer visitors comments! We don't believe those places are interested in repeat visitors. We hope to be able to use this place again. Very nice.

Breathtaking view. This house is "Home away from Home". Everything you need is here. The boatdock is very accommodating and the lake is crystal clear. This section of the lake is very peaceful.

My family stayed at Houston's Hideaway for Labor Day 2007. The house is wonderful! The view from the porch is fantastic and the hike back and forth to the water will keep you in excellent shape! This end of the lake is calm even on the busiest holiday weekends. We hope we can return soon!

Absolutely a great vacation home. The house has all the usual ammeneties. We felt right at home. It's very peaceful. Nice cool breezy mornings and evenings down at the table overlooking the gorgeous lake. We saw lots of does, rabbits, etc. If you need directions, suggestions, etc. the locals are so helpful & friendly. We had a wonderful stay at Houston's Hideaway Lake House. Hope to be back again soon!

Great place! Pictures can not do it justice. A perfect, quiet morning porch view and a nice cup of coffee makes for a great way to start the day. Lake is a beautiful, clear, winding paradise for all types of boaters. House looks and feels new, and is excellently provisioned. Looking forward to our next week long trip.

We really enjoyed our stay at Houston's Hideaway. The view is great. The house is very comfortable. We enjoyed the wild life that we saw also.(fox, armadillos, hummingbirds and raccoons) Oh, and my husband caught about 25 large mouth bass while we were there. We will be going back for another week in the near future.

What a great house! All the amenities you could ask for - tastefully decorated. We relaxed on the covered porch and had dinner alfresco - it was wonderful. It's a little bit of a breathtaking hike back up the stairway from the boat house/deck but definitely worth it - great view of the lake from the deck by the water and the boathouse. I would definitely recommend this rental to all my friends.

Houston's Hideaway is a beautiful, well equipped property. The docks and views are exceptional. The surrounding properties are great for walking, running or biking. We had a wonderful time!
