Emerald Gate Farm-13 Acre Mtn Estate-Fish Ponds-Horse Friendly
- Minimum stay:Contact owner
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
This 4 bedroom, 3 bath vacation rental is located on 13 acres of beautiful rolling mountain property with so much to do you'll spend most of your time right here. It's very accommodating having the main quarters all on one floor. Drive into the two car garage and go right into the kitchen with your groceries. There are ponds, gardens, creeks, springs and mountain hiking trails to explore. The 'Farm Stay' experience has a resident cow, yard birds, trout, and egg laying chickens. You are welcome to use the eggs and sample whatever is in season from the fruit trees, grape vines and berry, vegetable and mushroom gardens.
Besides the two-car garage, 13 acres and barn; there is a newly finished living unit in the basement. A complete unit with a kitchen and 3 beds. A private entrance and a one car garage make this ideal for families vacationing together or just for extra kids.
A great place for home schooling. Lots of fun things to do and learn any time of the year.
A real Farm Stay vacation.
Red and black raspberries, blackberries, apple, peach, pear, cherry, elderberry and black walnut trees will add to your menu. Our fully equipped kitchen: 2 ovens, 6 gas burner cook top, microwave, trash compactor & ice making fridge make it easy to use our home grown produce.
Our 3 trout ponds have resident ducks, geese, trout, bass and catfish that we now allow our guests to fish for.
Pets are welcome here.
This estate is very private and secluded yet we are close to the small towns of Waynesville and Maggie Valley where there is golf, antiquing, river rafting, restaurants and Lake Junuluska. Only 3 miles from route 40 which will take you to Asheville 30 miles to the east. We are close to 3 different entrance points for the Blue Ridge Parkway and very close to the Smokey Mountain National Park, Cataloochee Valley where Elk can be seen every afternoon and the Cherokee Reservation with Harrah’s Casino.
At 3600 ft it is usually cool enough to just open the windows, but we have a 'Green' geothermal heat pump that provides both heat and ac when needed. There is a beautiful mountain view from your bedroom window and from the half-covered wrap around deck where you can relax and barbeque in the shade or the sunshine. Summer nights are spectacular with fireflies competing with the stars.
Close by we also have fishing, hunting, skiing, wildlife viewing, horseback riding, museums, sightseeing, rafting, tubing, archery, sporting clays and even sky diving.
Inside and out there is wireless high speed internet, DirecTV and free long distance anywhere in the Continental US.
Check out the virtual tour. Find the link below, just above the Map & Owner's Profile.
Rates are negotiable, the new basement quarters are optional; so lets talk and I will explain how we can make a deal based on your specific wants and needs.

The house was warm and cozy and the property was awesome. My kids had a blast running around out side and playing with the dogs. John was a great host, friendly and accomodating. He was great with the kids! Would definitely reccomend this place to anyone visiting the area that wants a relaxing vacation and something fun right in the backyard for the kids to do.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My wife nd I, my two daughters and their families, specnt a fantastic week at Emerald Gate. The web page made the place look great but it did not do justice to the farm. JC, Polly, clyde and other animals made emerald Gate etraordinary. JC even saw to it that the weather stayed great and the trees were in full color. The house itself, was clean, beds were comfortable, and unlike other cabons or homes we rented in the Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Ashvile area is was bug and cobweb free, and there was no musty odor. We all were sad when it was time to go and defitiely will return. It is a great place to get together with family and enjoy not only the farm but also the local area. Unlike the Gatlinburg area, traffic is light, restaurants are great and there is much shopping.Recommended for: People with disabilities, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners.

This was our second trip to the area and first stay at the farm. We had a great time. The property was beautiful and the home was comfortable and spacious. The owner JC was very gracious and accommodating and we enjoyed his company. He was also readily available for any questions we had or if any problems would have arose. We had our daily outings (Zip-lining, Whitewater rafting, gem mining, hiking, etc.) but it was very relaxing to come back to the farm for dinner, start a fire and roast marshmallows, make s'mores and chill out. We enjoyed Polly and Clyde and felt safe with them roaming the grounds. We also enjoyed feeding the fish, ducks, geese, etc., and eating fresh vegetables from the garden. If we are fortunate enough to make a trip next year definitely plan on returning and hopefully will bring the grandkids as I know they would love it.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, pet owners.

JC, This is our 4th visit in a little over a year, and each time it gets better!. Your farm has become a second home for us, and You, Polly & Clyde have become part of our family. We can't imagine ever coming to Maggie, without staying at the farm. It's very sad that Sampson passed away, but we look forward to see what "critters" you acquire next. We will see you later this summer, as I try to get the whole extended Noel family back here, like we did last year. You are the best! JC's property was the perfect setting for our family vacation and Christmas Holiday. We stayed 12/25/11 through 1/1/12 and the house was perfect for for 12 people to stay. JC is a very gracious host and guide for the area. He pointed us towards Cataloochee valley one evening in the afternoon where we saw a large herd of wild elk and well over 100 wild turkey. The animals around the farm kept the kids very entertained as well as the fishing ponds but the biggest hit was Poly and Clyde the two very large very friendly dogs. The house is in a perfect location for exploring Great Smoky Mountain National Park. On the ride home the conversation was mainly about what time of year to come back as we truly loved the farm and JC's company.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: I retired at 65 from the heat and hustle of Miami to the cooler and laid back community in the mountains. Like when I ran charter fishing boats, I love to share my experiences here on this 13 acre mountain farm. I built a cabin by the barn so I can stay here and tend the gardens, orchards and animals.
Why the Owner Chose Maggie Valley:
I came here to enjoy the seasons and to learn how to live close to the land.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
I love doing the chores on the farm, being close to the animals and protecting them.
Planting gardens and helping things grow so I can preserve them and use them in my own kitchen.
Keeping the grounds and getting firewood keeps me healthy and tired at the end of the day.
I am very fortunate to be living this lifestyle and I am eager to share whatever I can.
