Our home is located just a short walk from the beach on a triple lot and built into a wooded dune providing plenty of privacy.

OUTSTANDING! We had a big family reunion with siblings from CA, PA, OH, GA & CO! It was truly the best and most memorable time we have ever had! Short walking distance to the beach (people were very friendly and respectful). The house is very charming, VERY CLEAN and very secluded! We would eat breakfast in the morning on the back porch, play games at night on the large dining room table and sit outside with the firepit, chairs circled around it. Towels, beach gear, etc all provided. Another great perk is that Chicago is only 35 minutes away! We spent a day in Chicago then headed back to the house for a beach walk at night. Chicago skyline can be seen from the beach! The best family memories were made at this charming home. The owners are very accommodating! Thank you! We'll be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.

the beach house was exceptionally clean and inviting -- we were expecting two kitchens, but did not realize that the house was more like two separate units - but that was not a problem -- the main kitchen was fully stocked and easy to use - the downstairs kitchen could use a few minor additons in appliances - all the bedrooms were very comfortable and had good closet space for "your stuff" - baths were great too -- we stayed downstairs because our older dog had trouble with the staircase (it's painted and a tad steep,) so that is something to consider if someone is elderly or handicapped -- also the terrain surrounding the upstairs deck is a little dificult to navigate with no easy "pee pee spot" for an old canine - when we moved downstairs we did enjoy the large patio right outside our front door -- it is large and private with a big table, umbrella and cushioned seats -- it's a great place to gather or just meditate -- and our dog did not have to climb or navigate - he was able to take a nice nap beside us. we got used to the multiple staircases leading up to the house, but suggest that prospective renters be made aware of them either in the photos or description -- we would have still rented, but there were times my husband had to carry the dog and I thank goodness he is a strong guy! our grandchildren spent a couple days with us and they absolutely loved the "kids' room" -- it is fully loaded - from built-in bunkbeds (for 4) to cable TV - to games and toys and more! I would definitely recommend this property to a friend -- it's an excellent value and the beach is uncrowded and clean -- (it would be perfect if it had parking, but it doesn't - tho you can drive and dropoff people and coolers etc.) our problem was somewhat unique -- a dog with arthritis and not enough information available from the photos. in closing, I want to say that the owner was extremely helpful and very accessible - it's a good place to have a family vacation.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners.

About the owner: We have a large active family that likes to play volleyball, go tubing, hike the dunes and trails with our dogs and to enjoy the outdoors. Our favorite time of year is in the winter when the ice forms large caves on the shoreline and of course in the summer when we can have lots of friends visit. The kids busy sports schedule has cut our available time at the house considerably making renting it out a good option. We hope renters find our house clean, clean, clean, comfortable and affordable. Most of our renters come back year after year - thats the way we like it.
Why the Owner Chose Miller Beach:
Miller Beach and the Indiana Dunes National Lake Shore offer the prettiest beach and hiking trails in the Chicago area. It is also close enough to visit for just a few hours or a day and not feel like the ride isn't worth it. When the kids were younger and not so busy with sports we could come in the summer for a week and my husband would easily commute to Chicago on the train and be back on the beach for cocktail hour. We bought this house knowing we could easily host two other families for fun weekend get togethers.

We chose this location because of it's heavily wooded large lots - the houses are far apart, unlike the houses down on the beach, and you feel miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
