Hawkes' Nest - Family-owned and operated since 1990, this cozy, waterfront cabin is just 30 feet from the shoreline of beautiful 40 mile long Moosehead Lake. It is described as full housekeeping, all you need to take with you are linens and towels (and your desire for beauty and tranquility).
Located in Greenville, known as the Gateway to the Great Northwoods, Hawkes' Nest is only one mile from shops and restaurants in the center of town, yet is off the beaten path. Nestled at the end of a dead-end, well-maintained, dirt road, it gives one a sense of remote seclusion. You won't be woken by logging trucks rumbling past and the train whistle will be a distant listening pleasure.
After fun-filled days of fishing, boating, swimming, golfing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, floatplane rides, or cruising aboard the Katahdin, enjoy relaxing on our screened-in porch or lakeside picnic table, watching gorgeous sunsets over Squaw Mountain and a scenic panorama of the lake dotted with small islands. Listen to the loons call hauntingly to each other as their beautiful cries echo for miles. At dusk, head up the road a bit to spot majestic moose grazing nearby. Go exploring! Take a day or two north to Quebec City or Baxter State Park.
