4 mums with 8 children (under 6) met up for a weekend at Teachers House and we had a wonderful time. The house is spacious and really well equiped - everything we needed. It was snowing heavily and the house was lovely and warm - and we particularly enjoyed lighting the real fire which had been laid for us (and drinking wine in front of it!) The house layout and the gardens are great - we had fun building snowmen in the enclosed gardens and imagined using the lovely furniture when we return in the Summer! A really great house for a get together and we would highly recommend to others. Many thanks to Mary and Rachel for being so helpful with our arrangements.Owner response: Its is really great to receive yet another fabulous review and to hear that despite the really cold weather conditionsm we have had this winter, every one enjoyed the warmth of "Teachers". It really is a very special house and perfect for all age groups. Thank you for all for taking such good care of the house and we look forward to welcoming you all back in the summer, or any time. When you can enjoy the lovely gardens and visit lots of special places nearby. Mary Peter and Rachel.

Some old schoolfriends and I got together with our respective families (including three toddlers) for a long weekend at Teachers, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The house is beautiful, spacious (what a treat for each couple/family to have our own bathroom), and in a very picturesque location. The children loved exploring the house (the kitchen floor in particular saw a lot of use by toy cars!) and once they were tucked up in bed the adults had plenty of space for relaxing and enjoying a proper catch up. The garden is also lovely, even in mid November! We went for lunch at the local pub after a walk in the surrounding countryside and really rated the food (although the menu was a bit limited for small children). Most of our time though was spent relaxing in the house. The pictures on this site are lovely, but don't do it justice. It really is a lovely property and we wouldn't hesitate to return.Owner response: We are delighted to receive yet another great review. Continuing to update the house by installing new ensuite bathrooms has aded greatly to the comfort of guests. We are planing to make more improvements during 2013. Yes we agree that the house is indeed more lovely than the pictures can show. You need to come and see the comfort, space and facilities for your self. Teachers is a house with history, and character set In a great location. The local pub serves great food but you need to book in advance. However there are many other great places to eat nearby in Moreton in Marsh and other neighbouring villages. A full list is available

Family members (4 couples and one baby) ranging from 5 months to 75 years, met up at the lovely Teachers House. The house comfortably accommodated the 8 people, and a cot and high chair was provided for the baby. The en-suite bathrooms were a great bonus! A couple of 'fringe' family members came for 2 days and stayed at the Fox and Hounds down the road, but spent most of their time with us. The place is very comfortably furnished, but we didn't spend too much time indoors. A lot of the time was spent in the kitchen and dining room, but mostly in the lovely garden. The weather was superb and some of us enjoyed walks in the surrounding area - but most of us just chilled out in the garden, enjoying family company. The kitchen is well equipped and so big that we all managed to help out with the cooking and clearing up without falling over each other; between the 4 couples we managed to produce some great meals - home from home. Mary was extremely helpful and replied promptly to my numerous question before our arrival. She even phoned us as soon as we had got in the door to check that all was well, and a lovely welcome greeted us from the kitchen table. I hope we left the place in a good state, although we couldn't quite remember where all the kitchen utensils were homed. Sorry that we helped ourselves to a few cans of Carlsberg from the fridge, but our supply hadn't arrived - we did replace them with bottles. Thank you to Mary for making us feel so welcome and for letting us share her lovely house. We would love to come again should the situation and circumstances arise! A big thank you from The Gregorys (London) The Oakleys (London and Suffolk) The Philipsens (Denmark)Owner response: Dear Alyce, What a fabulous review! we are so happy to hear that all of you had such a fabulous time at "Teachers". You did have fabulous weather so it was great to hear that you loved being in the garden and taking walks in the surrounding areas. I am always happy to answer any questions that guests may have before and during your stay. We are also really to pleased to hear that you enjoyed the facilities of 4 en-suite bath/shower rooms. We look forward to welcoming you all back in the near future and thank you for looking after our home so well during your stay. Many thanks Peter and Mary Wilson

A few friends and I were looking to get out of London for a few days, and a weekend at The Teacher's House was the perfect answer! This lovely, spacious, 5* property with a gorgeous garden was just what we needed. The town of Moreton-in-Marsh is easy to get to and very charming with some great pubs and shops, etc. Mary the owner is delightful and extremely helpful in arranging your visit, and the milk, eggs, chocolates etc. waiting for us upon arrival was such a treat! I would recommend at least one car due to the fact that the house is about a 5-minute ride from town and taxis would likely add up. All in all, it was a great weekend in the country and I would recommend this house to anyone. Thanks again, Mary!Owner response: Hi Victoria, Thank you so much for such a great review!!! We are glad that you and your group of friend had such a lovely time at "Teachers". We do recommend a car on our details as Gt Wolford is approximately is 2 1/2 miles from the main town and railway station of Moreton in Marsh. We have a fabulous pub in our village (less than 2 minutes walk away), which also does very good food "The Fox and Hounds". It is obviously lovely to be able to drive and visit all the other beautiful places nearby. We hope to see you back again in the near future. Many thanks, Mary and Peter Wilson

We were a party of 7 friends in our 50s/60s who live in different parts of the country and Teachers was an ideal location for us to meet and spend a wonderful few days together. The house is beautiful - tastefully decorated and furnished, very well equipped and maintained and the garden is also delightful. It is a very quiet location but not too remote. We enjoyed drinks at The Fox and Hounds and also an excellent Sunday lunch. Communication with the owner was straightforward and helpful and Rachel was very accommodating regarding arrival and departure. We would have no hesitation in recommending Teachers to others and would be very happy to return ourselves.Owner response: Hi Susan, Thank you for such a great review. We are so happy to hear that you and your friends got together at "Teachers" and had a wonderful few days there. Also it was lovely to hear that you got to enjoy the garden as well as the house and lunch at the Fox and Hounds our fabulous local pub. We look forward to welcoming you all back at "Teachers" on another occasion and take you for being such great house guests.

This home was a perfect place for our family of five to spread out in comfort after a week in the city. Gorgeous country kitchen which is outfitted with everything you'd need. We loved the cozy warmth of the location which feels delightfully remote but is in fact minutes away from all the necessities. Good central location for all Cotswold attractions. Highly recommend the Fox and Hounds Inn just up the road. Though when we tried to go back on a Friday night they were booked completely, so call ahead for a weekend stay. A word of warning for disoriented American drivers like us not used to the rural England minimalist approach to road signage -- make sure you print your directions in advance and have a clear idea where you're heading. Even with a navigator in our rental car, we got lost. For some reason the navigator sent us to the wrong place when we input postal code and street. It finally worked when we just typed in "Great Wolford."Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Robert, Thank you for submitting such a great review. We are delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay at "Teachers" and that you especially enjoyed the fabulous kitchen and the local inn The Fox and Hounds. We are sorry to hear that you had a problem with the "sat nav" in your rental car and thank you for letting us know that Great Wolfrod is better the postal code. We will add this to our list of arrival instructions for all guests. We hope you had a good trip back to American and we look forward to welcoming you all back to "Teachers" again soon. Best wishes, Peter and Mary Wilson

Teacher's House provided charming and excellant accomodations for our 3 generation family visit to the Cotswolds. Rooms were clean, and picturesque. The enclosed garden was the favorite experience of our 3 year old grand daughter. Teacher's house location was convenient for experiencing the highlights of the history and beauty of the Cotswolds. The Great Wolford village environment was enjoyable - picturesque old church; fresh milk and eggs from nearby dairy; nearby pubs; wonderful support from Rachel; and much more. We woud love to return for a future visit.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Dear Mary and Peter, A quick note to say how perefect Teachers House was when my 'new' parents in-law and family stayed there during Arantxa and my wedding in the village, back in June. Having grown up in Great Wolford I know first hand that it is the best place to call home. The house was just perefect in terms of comfort and really was finished to a very impressive standard. During the busy few days in the lead up to the wedding and the calm after it I know how much they appreciated the sanctuary and space of their fantastic home from home. It was a very key part of thier enjoyment of what was a great wedding, indeed all our guests commented how special the area was. Best wishes David MathiasRecommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Beautiful house, very warm, cosy and spacious. Had a wonderful long weekend with the girls! (Grown women now!) The house was central to visiting the beautiful tourist attractions but the village itself was lovely and quiet. Went for long walks from the village which we thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend this property to anyone visiting the Cotswolds but wants to be away from the noisy tourist villages.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We are an Australian family who were looking for a Cottage to spend Christmas with our son who lives in London. We discovered the Teachers House and thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing week over the Chistmas New Year season. We found the Cottage lived up to all our expectations being roomy, with space where we could all be together or spend a private moment. It is well appointed for a family holiday, with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and our family of seven were very comfortable. The House and Great Wolford were very picturesque, and the quiet village atmosphere lead to a relaxing time. The position of the House was very central to Cotswold villages, Oxford, and still only a few hours drive from London. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and would recommend the Teachers House for a very pleasant holiday.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Three generations spent a long weekend at Teachers House and it was perfect for everyone. The house positively oozes character from every stone and the setting is picture perfect (I expected Miss Marple to cycle past at any moment) a real piece of Olde England. The house itself is tasteful and stylish and also beautifuly in keeping with its period (particularly appreciated the different living areas so we could really spread around and the dining room/pool room was ample big enough for a big family dinner). Relaxation was the key to the weekend but we did manage a couple of local walks in crisp sunny December weather. Tried out the local pub which had a lovely open fire, very friendly staff and well presented tasty food. Well done to the owners for creating this gem and we would love to come back maybe in summer to make good use of the enchanting garden.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear Gerard and family, Thank you for such a great review!!!! We are delighted to hear that all three generations enjoyed our lovely home in a pre-Christmas break. We had a fabulous weekend at Teachers House, the property is exactly as it looks on the website - immaculate and outstanding, it is well equipped and extremely comfortable with quality furnishings throughout. What I found particularly attractive about the property was that it actually feels like a real home as the owner has not made it sterile like many holiday homes, this was a welcome change. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property and would be very pleased to be able to return there again in the future. The location is also perfect with a quiet village setting but within easy access to many places.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We chose this property because we feared for some unstable weather and wanted to be comfortable inside as well as outside. This has worked out great. Although the weather was much better than expected, we did spent a rainy Wednesday morning at the house which was delightful. The house has many comfortable and nicely decorated rooms to sit and relax, enjoy music or large screen television (lots of DVD's !) and the kitchen is wonderfully spacious and very well equipped. On the sunnier days we enjoyed the garden as well. Great Wolford is a quiet little hamlet from where you can make nice walks through the country side. The local pub serves great food. The house proved to be an ideal base for daytrips in the Cotswolds : Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Blenheim Palace and the beautiful Cotswolds' country side and villages are within easy reach. Moreton-in-Marsh is the practical neigbbouring town at a 10 min. drive where all amenities can be found. We definitely recommend this property to everyone !Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were so pleased when we arrived at Teachers House, because after looking at the pictures on the website, we had high expectations of what the house would be like....and it didn't disappoint - the house was stunning! We were greeted with wine and chocolates and glorious sunshine, which meant we were able to make use of the very pretty garden and patio area. We had a really lovely weekend and didn't want to leave. This is a fantastic location for a family get-together or a group of frriends to have a gathering. Plenty of rooms and space to find a quiet corner to read a book too!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The house is really very, very nice. The kitchen and kitchen eating table were so nice that we didn't even use the beautiful dining room. Bedrooms were very nice and, in particular, the bathrooms seemed fairly new. This place is not 'tired' at all. The yard (garden) out back was fairly large and pretty. The little village it is in is just that, very little. We found it fairly easy to get to wherever else we wanted to go (Burton-on-the-Water, Stratford, Broadway, et al). Moreton-in-Marsh is nice and has some restaurants and stores, although it's not quite as quaint as some other towns (Stow, Broadway). The TESCO in Stow is close enough to shop at, although not so close to just pop out to get something. There is a TESCO Express in Moreton for little things. I couldn't recommend this place enough. Really, really great. We wanted to see more of the Cotswolds, but also just wanted to hang around the house, b/c is was so relaxing and pleasant.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for such a great review. Its lovely to hear that you and your family really enjoyed your stay at "Teachers" it is a really gorgeous house. Yes Great Wolford is a charming village but with a great pub and lots of great walks. We hope to welcome you back very soon.

Teachers House is a fantastic home away from home and provided myself and friends with a superb weekend away. We all agreed we would one day love to live in a house like this and would defintately recommend it to others. It was clean and in excellent condition and perfectly situated within easy access of moreton-in-marsh. We were welcomed with a box of chocolates and bottle of wine and it didnt take long to spend our evening in the local pub. If you want to eat at the pub i would recommend booking in advance as it gets very busy. Whether your friends wanting a relaxing weekend or people looking to explore the Cotswolds this house is definately worth a visit.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We spent a week at Teachers House for the Festive period. We had a fantastic time. The house easily accomodated 7 of us and we were able to spread out. All together a splendid Christmas break - Thank you very much.Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

My husband and I booked this property for a long weekend. The description on the net was very accurate, it is a very beautiful property with plenty of room it is a lovely house which has been well maintained, very clean and exceptionally well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed this Cotswold home. It has lovely living areas and kitchen. Fabulous bedrooms and a wonderful garden area for eating alfresco. Everything was very clean and tidy. The bed linen and towels were of very good quality and were lovely and fresh. The decor is beautiful and the photographs on the website are very accurate (which is always good when booking a holiday on the internet). The weekend was extremely relaxing and there was nothing to find fault in - having stayed in a range of 5 star hotels around the world I can say without a doubt that this compares very favourably. Perfect for the 'get away from it all' retreat. Fantastic we couldn’t fault it. We will definitely rebook this home. .Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
