Accommodations: three house buildings- one bedroom, one and a half bath, kitchen/dining, living pavilion (sleeps two to four).
This beautiful compound features Asian-style structures connected by spacious lanais nestled among native trees and lichen-crusted old flow lava, with extensive tropical landscaping and a Japanese koi pond and waterfall.
The three acre property has been sensitively developed with minimum disturbance of the natural topography. The buildings and gardens are shielded from street view by lava ridges, creating a quiet and intimate environment.."Its like a world within a world" said one guest.
The three buildings comprise: the 320 square foot master bedroom with cathedral ceiling, queen bed, bathroom, walk-in closet and private deck, the 340 square foot kitchen/dining room, with gas range, dishwasher, bathroom and shower, washer/dryer, opens onto large deck connecting with bedroom, 250 square foot living pavilion with eight lovered panels in all four walls which may be folded back for open-air ambience, or closed to provide privacy.
This room may be used for additional sleeping space (queen airbed provided). All buildings feature open beams, ceiling fans, and spacious views.
A pathway leads to the top of the property, with a sitting/viewing deck with panoramic ocean and shoreline views.
The living pavilion overlooks a canyon created by a collapsed lava tube, with a hidden cave that has been turned into a living space occupied by caretaker/gardener/guitar maker Stephen Smith and his dog Sophy.
