This nineteenth century home, surrounded by mature trees and hedges, sits back from a quiet one-lane dirt road off the beaten track near downtown Wellfleet. We completed a major remodel in August of 2005 which was designed to maintain the charm of an older home while providing all creature comforts to our guests. It has been owned by our family since 1972.
Our home is just a five minute walk from historical downtown Wellfleet, a 15 minute walk from the pier and bay beaches, and a seven minute walk to Uncle Tim's bridge. Ocean beaches and fresh water ponds are ten minutes away by car. The marvelous town library is a 7 minute walk away.
The downstairs living area includes the dining room, kitchen, sunroom, living room, workout/Yoga room with a full bath, as well as a bedroom suite with its own brand new full bath and a door to the outdoor shower and patio area. The upstairs has three bedrooms (one quite large) and a new bathroom.
The renovation included updated plumbing, electrical/lighting and new granite counter tops in the kitchen. The oak and fir floors throughout the home were refinished and the house freshly painted throughout. The two new bathrooms have radiant floor heating.

Owner Description
Ann and Shanta live in San Francisco year round. Ann spent some of her high school years living in Wellfleet. Her father, a merchant seaman and writer, bought the home in 1972 as a retreat to be near the water but away from large masses of population, Our two grown boys spent parts of many childhood summers visiting and have, to this day, many fond memories of days spent on Baker Avenue.
Why the Owner Chose Wellfleet
We bought the home from Ann's fathers' estate after he passed away in 2003. It was very important for us to do everything we could to keep the home in our family.
The Unique Benefits of this House
There is something special about Wellfleet any time of year and, of course, summers are alot of fun with so many varied water sources nearby. The ocean, ponds and bay water. All with varying degrees of water temperature. In one day we might go from a day at an ocean beach, stop by a pond on the way home and then go to a bay beach for sunset.
