About the owner: Aloha! Welcome to Hale Luana (House of Relaxation). We are the Petersons originally from Eureka, California and are both retired elementary school teachers. We have owned this terrific unit since 2004 and have made many improvements since that time. It is our 'slice of paradise' and we would love to share it with you when we are not in residence there.
The pictures do not do it justice and the rates are extremely reasonable for the quality of decor. Totally remodeled kitchen with high quality appliances and Silestone counters (quartz) .This is not just a 'vacation rental'. It is our home and we have lovingly added special touches to it that other rentals do not have. Please read our past guest comments on this site to get an idea of their satisfaction with Hale Luana.
This is an owner managed unit so you will get personalized service and the assurance that your stay is one you will always remember. We have paid attention to every detail and present a super clean, attractive, comfortable place to stay while visiting Hawaii.
We visit the beach most mornings to snorkel. Our favorite spot nearby is at the Mauna Kea's beach. Get there early (before 9:00 AM) to get a beach pass!! We are also working on improving our golf. Ray needs to straighten out his 'slice' as he loses 4-6 balls every 18 holes!. I just try to even HIT the ball at this point. :-)

Why the Owner Chose Waikoloa Village: The decision to buy in this location was easy.... we wanted a quiet condo that was closer to the wonderful beaches the island has to offer without having to drive for 25-40 minutes from places in Kailua- Kona. We wanted fresh, clean air and knew that Kailua-Kona has had its share of vog. Waikoloa Village rarely gets any. We wanted to retire here part-time so the hussle and bustle of Kona just wasn't what we wanted. The golf course provides a serene view and the discounted golf rates are super! Our location on the island makes it perfect for exploring all areas. Our neighbors are friendly and trustworthy.
We chose this particular unit for it wonderful view and being an corner unit we have extra windows and more opportunity for better air flow on those warm days. Being on the bottom floor keeps the interior cooler and it is handy for a quick walk along the boundaries of the golf course. The large tree to the left of our unit provides welcome shade in the afternoon.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo: As mentioned above, our neighbors are wonderful. A friendly 'good morning', or 'come over for a cocktail and watch the sunset' adds to our experience when we visit. Each day we are visited by the comings and goings of the local wild turkeys. They are so fun to watch! They seem to be on their own schedule for commuting from place to place. We awaken to birdsong each day. Since our building is concrete, it is quiet. Having such a well stocked market so close is a treat.
Although we don't watch much TV when we visit, when we do, we are treated to our two new large flatscreen TVs. A super picture! Better than the one we had on the Mainland, for sure! The same goes for doing the dishes.....a Bosch dishwasher. You can't even hear it running.
Our unit has a wide selection of Hawaiian music so we tend to have something on the CD player most of the time. It makes working in the unit more pleasurable. We've actually invented projects just to be able to spend time IN the unit! We have decorated it in a relaxed Hawaiian/Asian style which makes the unit more 'homey' and not as sterile and bare as some vacation rentals tend to be. We often just sit in the living room looking at the artwork and 'feeling' the mood.
It really doesn't need to be said that we shed a few tears each time we must leave for the Mainland. It is a given.
