Why the Owner Chose Waikoloa Village
The decision to buy in this location was easy.... we wanted a quiet condo that was closer to the wonderful beaches the island has to offer without having to drive for 25-40 minutes from places in Kailua Kona. We wanted fresh, clean air and knew that Kailua-Kona has had its share of vog. Waikoloa Village rarely gets any. We will want to retire here part-time so the hussle and bustle of Kona just wasn't what we wanted. The golf course provides a serene view and the discounted golf rates are super! Our location on the island makes it perfect for exploring all areas. Our neighbors are friendly and trustworthy.
We chose this particular unit for it wonderful view and being an end unit we have extra windows and more opportunity for better air flow on those warm days. Being on the bottom floor keeps the interior cooler and it is handy for a quick walk along the boundaries of the golf course. The large tree to the left of our unit provides welcome shade in the afternoon.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
As mentioned above, our neighbors are wonderful. A friendly "good morning", or "come over for a cocktail and watch the sunset" adds to our experience when we visit. Each day we are visited by the comings and goings of the local wild turkeys. They are so fun to watch! They seem to be on their own schedule for commuting from place to place. We awaken to birdsong each day. Since our building is concrete, it is quiet. Having such a well stocked market so close is a treat.
Although we don't watch much TV when we visit, when we do, we are treated to our two new large flatscreen TVs. A super picture! Better than the one we have on the Mainland, for sure! The same goes for doing the dishes.....a new Bosch dishwasher. You can't even hear it running.
Our unit has a wide selection of Hawaiian music so we tend to have something on the CD player most of the time. It makes working in the unit more pleasurable. We've actually invented projects just to be able to spend time IN the unit! Since we only get over to Hawaii in the summer we often forget to just hang loose in the condo itself. We have decorated it in a relaxed Hawaiian/Asian style which makes the unit more "homey" and not as sterile and bare as some vacation rentals tend to be. We often just sit in the livingroom looking at the artwork and "feeling" the mood.
It really doesn't need to be said that we shed a few tears each time we must leave for the Mainland. It is a given.

Aloha! Welcome to Hale Luana (House of Relaxation). We are the Petersons from Eureka, California and are both retired elementary school teachers. We have owned this terrific unit since 2004 and have made many improvements since that time. It is our "slice of paradise" and we would love to share it with you until we are able to live there on a more permanent basis.
The pictures do not do it justice and the rates are extrememly reasonable for the quality of decor....especially our new "economic stimulus" rates. This is not just a "vacation rental". It is our second home and we have lovingly added special touches to it that other rentals do not have. Please read our past guest comments on this site to get an idea of their satisfaction with Hale Luana.
This is an owner managed unit so you will get personalized service and the assurance that your stay is one you will always remember. We have paid attention to every detail and present a super clean, attractive, comfortable place to stay while visiting Hawaii.
We visit the beach each morning to snorkel. Our favorite spot nearby is at the Mauna Kea's beach. Get there early (before 9:00 AM) to get a beach pass!! We are also working on improving our golf. Ray needs to straighten out his "slice" as he loses 4-6 balls every 18 holes!. I just try to even HIT the ball at this point. :-)

I would sincerely use this rental property again. It is well taken care of. All of my email and phone calls was return in a timely matter. The place is beautiful. The swimming area offer so much. We really enjoyed our stay. It's such a safe place to live. I work in pubic safety for 24yrs. I have been on many vacations. None compare to how safe I felt. It is definite home away from home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay in the Waikoloa Village condo. Quiet, peaceful well maintained, and very well stocked, are a few of the things we enjoyed. Location is good if doing any travel across the Saddle road as you can reach Hilo in just over 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is only 15 minutes to Hapuna , my favorite, as well as Puako, great for snorkeling. We would definatly stay here again. Thanks Mary.

A-Bay and the Waikoloa Beach Resorts are just 6 minutes away, Hilo, an hour+ drive over the newly widened and paved Saddle Road. The best beaches are just a short drive away! We LOVE the location and our quiet, peaceful location. We would buy here again in a snap! Once again, we pride ourselves in having a well-stocked unit.....much more than any other vacation rental we have stayed in.

This Hawaii get-away condo was a wonderful find! The place had everything we needed to actually LIVE in it for a week! It is tastefully decorated with interesting Big Island pictures and art. We were “testing the waters” for our living on the Big Island, so we did NOT want to eat out every night. It can get expensive very fast if you have to purchase every single condiment and maybe a kitchen tool or two. There were so many things in the kitchen we felt right at home! The “if you finish something, replace it” rule worked for us. Since we ate in every night, the 3-4 things we happened to finish were so much easier than starting from scratch – and we loved the Asian marinade that someone else purchased! It was so nice to have chairs and towels for our couple of relaxing trips to the beach - and the ability to pack our lunch. The assortment of paperback books was perfect for a quiet read on the lanai. We loved being able to wash our clothes and bring them home clean. The view of the sunset over the golf course was perfect as we grilled on the lanai and listened to Hawaiian CDs we found in the CD player. Oh yes, and the group of turkeys that wandered by every day was so much fun to photograph!

I really loved staying at Hale Luana. We are a family of four and we had plenty of room. The view overlooking the golf course is lovely, and it's a nice way to wake up in the morning. There are some nice beaches that are pretty close to the condo. We loved exploring the Big Island and we are definetly going to stay at Hale Luana again. The owner was available through email and responded very quickly. I had many questions about the island, and she very helpful answering my questions. The condo had a lot of ammenities, like snorkle gear, beach stuff, and a well stocked kitchen. Wish I was back on the Big Island! Thanks Mary and Ray!

We have tried to keep our rates low to accomodate almost any budget. The rates do not reflect the quality of the furnishings and amenities provided. Hapuna Beach and others are just a short drive away where one can enjoy the sun and beach....then back to the condo for sun and cooler temperatures.

Loved this place! Very well kept. Very Clean and every thing required for a stay is very well maintained and kept. The owner has even taken care of play things and beach equipments required for kids. Beaches are just few miles away. Kitchen has everything that a family needs for home cooking. Loved it! Will stay again.
