Just wanted to let you know how pleased my husband and I were with our stay at Hummingbird Cottage. We were in HB to visit our son, and we enjoyed staying in a home so much more than staying in a hotel. The house is charming, and the photos accurately show the living areas, but the reality is even better. There are so many gathering spaces, from the family room to the spacious kitchen, to the relaxing outdoor areas. We loved having our son come over for dinner, or to simply relax and have a glass of wine on the patio. I loved the upstairs bedroom with the sun shining in--there were so many windows on almost all sides. The location is convenient to everything. We love spending time on Mainstreet, and walking the beach, and both are nearby. This was our first experience at renting a home through an online website, and it turned out to be just perfect. It was pleasure to deal with Michelle, the owner. Hummingbird Cottage was just what we were looking for.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Just wanted to give a little update to all who read our comments and are excited about a potential vacation to Huntington Beach... The city has been undergoing a "face lift" with new businesses and buildings going up... lots more shopping and great new restaurants... Every Tuesday evening, all of Main Street becomes a Farmer's Market and Street Fair with Live Music, crafts for the kids and vendors selling clothing, jewlery, crafts, food and lots of neat things! Hummingbird Cottage was just painted on the outside and is sparkling and ready for our Holiday Travelers. If you are interested in booking your reservations, please try calling my cell number first (949) 973-0656, as I am often out of email range. Wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season 2010! Your beautiful cottage was the perfect place to rejuvenate, inspire and renew my spirit. The soft morning light; the amazing breeze flowing throughout the house; the birds and sweet blossoms just outside the door: it was perfect. And the endless yoga and meditation on the beach was icing on the cake, making it an experience I'll never forget. Thank you for the healing energy of Hummingbird Cottage. It was a gift to stay there.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Recently, I visited a close friend of mine who lives in the Huntington Beach area. After reviewing VRBO, I chose to stay at the Hummingbird Cottage. The Hummingbird Cottage is a very unique and enchanting home. From the beautiful gardens out front with the fountain and the cherubs to greet you at the door, to the lovely mural when you walk inside, to the warm and cozy kitchen and living room area (each with its own rustic stone fireplace), to the very large master suite upstairs with lovely stained glass windows and an extremely comfortable bed (and another fireplace!), it was everything I expected and more! Additionally, the patio out in back was perfect for enjoying a lazy afternoon reading a book or perhaps having a friendly dart game or two. There is also a gas grill on the patio for those cool evening bbq's. The neighborhood is very quiet, and with the pier and downtown only a few blocks away, Hummingbird Cottage is the perfect vacation spot for those seeking a place to unwind, relax and rejuvenate the spirit. I had a truly memorable experience staying at the Hummingbird Cottage, and I am sure you will too.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

What a wonderful place to visit! My husband and I felt very much at home at Hummingbird Cottage. You've thought of everything to make staying there a wonderful and relaxing experience. The cottage is clean and much nicer than the photos portray. The bed is awesome -- a great sleeper! We enjoyed our daily walks to the pier. The neighborhoods are charming and safe. We loved the location. It was convenient to everything we wanted to do from theme parks, beaches, presidential libraries, upscale shopping and A's baseball to pure relaxtion. We would love to go back. Thanks for everything! Lisa GDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We visited during winter break with our 2 daughters in 2005. We wanted to visit Disney and all the sites but wanted to have a more cozy place than a hotel room. Hummingbird Cottage was perfect. It was a nice to get up and have a relaxing breakfast together in our jammies and then head out to the parks. We loved the pier down in town and got to see our first wild dolphins there. The cottage is in a great location from all the sites. It was clean, bright and cozy. Thank you for a such a nice place to rent. Sincerely, The Walters FamilyDid you find this review helpful? Hummingbird Cottage has a wonderful "AURA" that is present the moment you arrive. We stayed for two months in 2005 and found peacefulness and rest within. The owner has carefully thought of every detail to make quests comfortable and welcome. It is truely an escape to rest and relax and meditate. We would highly recommend it and plan to revisit ...as we feel we left a part of us and took away fond memories. Jane & Tony RidgeDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I and our two sons (8 & 11) stayed at the Hummingbird Cottage in August of 2005. By pure luck a late cancellation for Michelle ended up being a blessing for us. We have family in Huntington Beach and wanted to stay close by. The Hummingbird Cottage fit the bill. Little did we know how wonderful it would be! Michelle has made everything about this house just so easy for folks -- including her friendly and easy going nature. All the amenities of a beach vacation are at your feet -- from bicycles to beach towels! The quaintness of the kitchen and porch are just wonderful and the master suite was a wonderful retreat for my husband and I. We could not have asked for a better place to stay and plan on staying there again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

It's been 2 years since I left Huntington Beach and the special house on Geneva Street. As enjoyable as Hawaii is, I miss Hummingbird Cottage so much and envy those who get to experience it and the warm hospitality of its owners. Aloha, DaneDid you find this review helpful? If only there was a higher score than just "positive!" After looking for a place to stay near UCLA, where my husband had some meetings, I selected Hummingbird. Sure, it was a drive but was it ever worth it! I fell in love with the house as it was perfectly comfortable and relaxing. My husband and I were completely content. The host, Michelle, is just as delightful and charming as she can be. We could not have wished for more! During your stay, make sure that you eat at the famous Sugar Shack and get some of the Charles Shaw , "jug of chug" merlot, at Trader Vics. I hope to return to Hummingbird some day but will always fondly reflect on its tranquility. Thank you Michelle, for your thoughtfulness in allowing others a chance to experience Hummingbird Cottage! Aloha Michelle: As we were one of your first visitors we felt we had to add a comment now that you have a comment section. We originally lived in HB for 27 years and moved to Kauai. We went back after 9 years on Kauai and you provided the absolutely perfect place for us to stay. We hardly left your wonderful kitchen area. As our many friends stopped by they would always end up on the bar stools, someone cooking with the fireplace roaring. I spent each morning in the office working on your computer. At night we climbed the stairs to your absolutely wonderful bed. Mahalo for all you do to make your guests so comfortable...and when we come back again we will definately stay at the Hummingbird Cottage. Frank & Sue CraigDid you find this review helpful? Hello and thank you for visiting the web-site for Hummingbird Cottage by the Sea. My family LOVES our special Hummingbird Cottage and I wanted to tell the story of how we began sharing this home with families from around the world. We bought the house at the beginning of 2004 from Dane Lussier, who had personally renovated it, designed the exquisite garden and made it available for use by vacationers. Dane now lives on The Big Island in Hawaii and has his own Orchid Farm. We live about 45 minutes from Huntington Beach, but always wanted to own a beach house for our personal retreats and Huntington Beach was the ideal spot! Huntington Beach is rich with history and in addition to the wonderful beaches and surfing, "downtown" is alive with great shopping, a variety of restaraunts and bars, and is wonderful for people watching. Something amazing happened when we decided to look for a house to buy. The very first house that caught our eye as we were driving by, was for sale by owner and it was Hummingbird Cottage. We didn't have to look any further... We immediately fell in love with its charm and warmth. We could feel how special the house was and we became fast friends with the Dane, the unique man who created the cozy cottage feel and added many of the special touches. After we bought Hummingbird Cottage, we gave it a little "face lift" and added some of our own persoanl touches to reflect our beachy style. We continued on with the tradition of sharing it with families from around the world. We have met so many wonderful people who have all come to enjoy the warmth and charm of our special and magical "Hummingbird Cottage by the Sea". We hope to meet you soon, Brian, Michelle and Nikki AndersonDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
