It seems a bit like overkill, but we have to add our recommendation to the list. We always go VRBO on vacation, but the Casita is a unique blend of B&B (breakfast supplies, hosts nearby, lots of lovely touches) and rental property (private, separate entrance and patio). We did lots of day trips and loved coming back to this quiet, peaceful location. Jeff and Marilyn take care of the basics (hot shower, comfortable beds, super clean) and then raise the expectations (truly hot hot tub, lavender lotions, animals to feed, weather update every day, freshly roasted coffee beans, free wi-fi). Jeff even printed out boarding passes for us. Highlights: Sitting out in the hot tub under a clear sky of stars down to the horizon and eating breakfast in the front yard while bird-watching. Even with 280 reviews, you'll feel compelled to write your own after visiting!

The casita was as lovely as the photos with little "extras" around every corner. I especially enjoyed all of the lovely scents for us to employ and enjoy. Incense, linen spray, room spray, and freshly roasted coffee (we're talking morning of our arrival)! The toiletries bewitched me, too, as lavender is a top favorite. The "little house" was very tidy, and the breakfast provisions were well organized and plentiful. Jeff and Marilyn were delightful and attentive when we engaged them, but as promised, they respected our privacy. Make sure you take advantage of star-gazing from the hot-tub (The owners provide full-length towels and flashlights for warm, well-lit scampering to and fro.) If hiking is fun for you, try a morning of silence on the neighborhood's tiny mesa. For a fun afternoon go to Plaza Blanca and hop up and down the pale hoodoos. For adventurous hiking, go to Ghost Ranch (further north up 84) for a hike up Chimney Rock or into the Box Canyon. Chimney Rock has the best view of the Piedra Lumbre valley. Chimayo was lovely, but also a bit deserted when we visited. It would be a real treat to see the santuario during a mass. We liked Rancho de Chimayo and recommend getting a dish with green chiles if you can stand hot food. We had found a tub of frozen green chiles in the casita freezer, however, and had made a stand-out enchilada bake following the manufacturer's instructions. Thus, we were less bowled over by Rancho de Chimayo's offerings. The sopapillas are truly delicious. We would definitely recommend coming to the Casita, and when we return, we will skip Canyon Street in Santa Fe, see another art museum instead (this time we visited O'Keefe's), and visit Bandelier. Also, we plan to hike Kitchen Mesa at Ghost Ranch- the loveliest place in the Southwest. Thanks, Jeff and Marilyn, for a wonderful time!

My son and I spent a week at the Casita and we can't wait to go back! The Casita has everything you could ever want or need while you are vacationing, from the fresh-roasted coffee beans to the hottub with a view! The accommodations were spacious and comfortable, and the decor was perfect. There were many recommendations of nearby attractions and restaurants, plus a top-12 list put together by Jeff and Marilyn. The property was very clean and well maintained, and I would I highly recommend staying here.

We just completed our sixth stay at the casita, and each time we have begun to plan our next visit before we even finish the present one. Jeff and Marilyn are the best hosts anywhere. They will help you plan your visit if you wish or will leave you alone if that is your preference. The house is immaculate and comfortable. The kitchen and fridge are completely stocked with quality breakfast provisions and are restocked as needed. The house faces Georgia O'Keeffe's beloved Pedernal and you can watch the changing light and spectacular sunsets. Abiquiu is a gorgeous area with endless places to explore or hike. This is one of the most spectacular areas of New Mexico. We have traveled widely and don't know of anywhere more beautiful. There is absolutely nothing that could make this rental any better than it already is.

It's amazing to have fresh roasted coffee beans, a paper in the morning, fresh eggs, fresh sourdough bread. We love your place & your hospitality. We spent 5 nights at the casita and did not want to leave. From the minute we opened the door until we left, a total sense of relaxation fell over us. First of all, the casita is impeccably clean. It's like you're the first guest to ever stay there. Second, anything you can possibly need for comfort is provided. The different items/products in the bathroom, the abundance of blankets, books, artwork, kitchen essentials. You name it. It's there. The hosts' preparation of the casita for travelers is incredibly well thought out and considerate. They have seriously applied "the golden rule" to a vacation home. Also, the views from the property are incredible. Every sunset is better than the previous night's. The animals on the property provide smiles as you arrive from a day touring and when you open the door in the morning. Having never seen a miniature donkey before...well, my wife fell in love. Breakfast: the home-roasted coffee beans, the distilled water, the jellies, jams, bread, eggs...it's a wonderful place to start a day. (FYI - we are coffee fanatics and this coffee is excellent!) Highlight: The hot tub under the stars at night was (for these city kids) worth every penny and more. Overall: When I told people we were going to Abiquiu, they said "what will you do there?" and I honestly did not know what to say, having never been. Now when we go back (and we plan to!) and people ask that question, the response will be "unwind and relax." I highly recommend a multi-night stay here and also must say that Jeff and Marilyn are wonderful, polite and hospitable. In closing, if I could give this property six stars, I would. THANK YOU to our wonderful hosts. We will be back.

Wish there was a 6 star category because this property deserves it. The property sits atop a hill and looks out over the red hills with views of the Pedernal on one side and Sierra Negra on the other. Sunsets are spectacular. There are several outdoor seating areas - in the front of the house, bird watching is excellent - hummers, quail, blue pinon jays. In the back, there are lounge chairs arranged around an outdoor camp fire pit as well as an enclosed private patio with seating, outdoor firepit and charcoal grill. There is also a jacuzzi that is perfect for star-gazing. The kitchen is fully stocked with every gadget or tool you can think of. Fresh eggs and fresh roasted coffee are made available, too! The owners, Jeff & Marilyn, are extremely helpful. The rental process is quick & easy. They're around when you need them but you definitely have plenty of privacy. The location is perfect for feeling like you're really getting away but still close enough for a day/dinner in Santa Fe. Ghost Ranch is very close and has excellent hiking. Can't wait to go back!
