Located in the highly desirable, ever-sunny Kapoho, Hale Pilialoha, the Friendship House has just been lovingly remodeled into two very private units. Enter through the beautiful, custom, double glass doors into the light-filled entry and into your warm and welcoming vacation home. This incredible hale has gorgeous cedar walls and is decorated with tropical furnishings in a beautiful Hawaiiana theme. The hale is just a five minute walk from the protected Wai Opae tide pools where swimming and snorkeling can be a daily occurrence. Just a five minute drive down the famous Red Road is the Ahalanui Warm Spring Park which is a geothermally heated swimming pond at the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Since Kapoho is located at the furthest most eastern edge of the Big Island, it enjoys drier weather and those comfortable ocean trade winds.
The upstairs hale will sleep up to six and if you need additional sleeping for two more, or you would just like to have your own private space from the rest of the crowd, then you can rent the entire hale which includes the downstairs Pilialoha Studio.
The studio has its own first floor private entrance and is as cute as a button with its own private kitchen, bath, and eating area. The studio can be rented either with the man house or separately.
The huge upstairs master bedroom suite, with queen bed, has it's own private lanai. Keep those lanai doors open and let the ocean sounds lull you to sleep. Downstairs, there are two more bedrooms. You'll have a queen in the 2nd bedroom, two twins in the third bedroom. The two downstairs bedrooms share a full bath.
For larger groups of guests... Also available for additional guests will be the cute as a button, light and airy Pilialoha Studio. It is located on the first floor of Hale Pilialoha and it features a complete kitchen, bath, and a front garden lanai. Booked for two, the rate is $50 per night or $350 per week. All this, and only a short walk to the Big Blue Pacific Ocean and the best snorkeling the East Side of Hawaii has to offer! When booked with Hale Pilialoha (the upstairs), the rate will be $135 per night for four or $845 per week and $2595 per month.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at this house. We loved the cacophony of the frogs and birds each night. Experience the tidal pools at high tide..the best. We also enjoyed snorkeling at Richardson's Beach (in Hilo). The Champagne Pond is within walking distance and this would be a perfect place to introduce young children since the snorkeling is protected from the surf and the water is warm. We enjoyed the Hilo Farmer's Market, the Ahalanui Warm Spring Park, the Red Road to Kalapana where we heard some wonderful live Hawaiian music, Volcanoes National Park (Kilauea Iki Trail and Bird Park Trail). The Island Naturals Market in Pahoa is a very good source of groceries. And for a treat, we indulged in a night at out Kaleo's and ate fabulously well. We'd love to stay here again! Thanks for all the helpful maps and travel tips and thanks also for the wireless internet connection. Mahalo!

Loved the Tidal Pools, warm springs and the great falls. House has lots of room for the family. The kids each got to have their own room (teens). Nice that the parents were by themselves upstairs. Apprecite the list of Things to Do in the area. Great to have all the beach towels for our use. (from the house guest book)

Thank you Mark and Ron for sharing this home with us. It is beautifully decorated with all of the furnishings and necessities. We arrived after a late dinner Ning's Thai Restaurant (very good). Enjoyed the rain at night and the singing birds and frogs. Set out to Volcano National Park in the a.m., however not much happening. Came back to town to enjoy Mexican food at Luquin's. Snorked at the tide pools. Very interesting coral formations. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! (entered from our guest book and the management team a Hawaii Paradise Vacation Rentals)

I enjoyed arriving exhausted to windows open and the music playing plus the flowers! Nice touches. People appreciate these things. Only a short walk to the Tide Pools for a late swim on a moonlit night. The house was spotless and looks almost brand new. Although I only stayed 2 days in the upstairs suite, it was exactly what I needed! Thanks, Mark and Ron! (input from our guest book and the management team at Hawaii Paradise Vacation Rentals)

Thank you for such a clean and well kept home! Beautiful touches with the fresh flowers welcoming us! I truly enjoyed the evenings listening to the chorus of frogs and birds! Slept well!! Thank you, too for the maps and visitation areas from which we could explore. Well done Mark and Ron! We had not been at the house more than 2 hours before we had our snorkels and masks ready to head out to the Kapoho Tide Pools. Outstanding sea life! :) We spent the early evening at the Ahalanui Warm Pond and truly relaxed before heading back to the home and cooking our fish and preparing our fresh salad for dinner. Thank you for making our spring Break such a cherished event! (input from the guest book and the management team at Hawaiian Paradise Vacation Rentals)

We (2 adults + 2 older sons) really enjoyed the spaceous rooms , nicely updated kitchen and quiet neighborhood. The place was in show room condition when we arrived, with flowers and hawaiian music playing. We really enjoyed the night sounds , it added to the ambiance and put us to sleep. The hugh deck was nice for sitting and card playing in the afternoon. The tide pool snorkeling was better than expected, actually it was awesome as you work your way out and to the right. With consideration of cost, we rated it 5 stars, it exceeded our expectations. The only minor negatives were the couch and chair were lacking support and the grill is a charcoal grill. So if you want to grill you'll need charcoal, lighter fluid and of course, a match. Again, minor issues which were far out weighted by the positive aspects.

My wife and I along with son and daughter-in-law, and 2 grandsons 11 and 15 stayed here. Worked out great for us. Within walking distance to the tidepools, very clean and well kept house. Coqui frogs might be a bit loud for some but they lull me to sleep. Bring earplugs if croaking frogs keep you awake. I would rent this property again and would also recommend it to others.
Owner response:Aloha, Mark here with the management company, Hawaiian Paradise Vacation Rentals. Yes, we have coqui frogs that chirp at night. Actually ,they lull us to sleep, too! Welcome to the tropics!!! Come and see us! Mark
