Suitable Digs is a small, eclectic group of short-term green lodgings set on 2 1/2 acres, just a 10-minute drive from the Plaza in the heart of Santa Fe. Each space is rented individually, and it is possible to rent a group of spaces for gatherings. The main house is a post-and-beam building dismantled in New Hampshire and rebuilt in Santa Fe 21 years ago, having New England on the inside and New Mexico on the outside. There is an ample patio with comfortable seating, lush seasonal organic vegetable and fruit gardens, a grape arbor, and a small new orchard. Suitable Digs is simple, functional, and beautiful, with a wonderful walking/running/biking trail just outside the front doors.
There are two lovely small apartments, The Earth Room and The Sun Room, with professionally handmade interiors, brick floors, plastered walls and wooden ceilings, each created to be "a home away from home". Each apartment sleeps 1 to 3 people and has a fully equipped kitchen and full bath.
There is also The Bunkhouse, with three "bunks" (single beds), a small kitchen and dining area, and a bathroom. The walls, floors and counters are colored with natural earth pigments in golden yellow, terracotta and magenta. It has that cozy retro/camp/cabin feeling, updated and beautiful.
In The Main House, there is a fine sleeping room with shared kitchen and bathroom. The Green Room is a lovely, spacious room with sleeping loft above and living area below, and a door to the second-floor deck with its wonderful mountain views.
Suitable Digs is maintained with high ecological standards, inside and out.
The owner/proprietor, Lisa Sarenduc, lives on the premises in The Main House, working full-time on the land to ever increase the beauty, productivity and possibilities of Suitable Digs. She takes care of daily maintenance of the place and is available to help make your stay be all that you want it to be. |
