Laura, thank you for such a wonderful time. The Sailfish is exactly as described and so much more. The home easily accommodates an extended family and sleeps 14 comfortably. There is plenty of space and the game room was a hit with the kids and adults alike! The tranquility and beauty of Harbor Island is easy to enjoy from the Sailfish. You get ocean and marsh views and relaxation thrown in! The kids looked forward to the golf cart ride to go on gator and bird watching expeditions, and of course our daily trip to the beach! 3 generations shared the home, made memories, and enjoyed being together. Best vacation value we have ever had and plan to take advantage of for years to come. You can't go wrong with the Sailfish!!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Laura, we couldn't have been happier with the Sailfish. Our entire family fell in love with it. From the sunsets on the backporch, to the amazing kitchen, and even the under part of the house. Everyone had a special place. We brought back beautiful memories, and there is talk already that we have to return. Somethings are just too wonderful to only experience once. Thank you again for all your help prior to our arrival. I enjoyed our emails, lol. Until we return....God bless.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Fantastic place to stay for USMC graduation! It was an easy 25-30 minute drive to Parris Island. The house has 3 king master suites and two additional bedrooms, which was perfect for our group - plenty of room and plenty of privacy. LOVED the open living area, with huge kitchen, dining area, surround sound tv/stereo and wi-fi! I never felt left out while cooking or cleaning because the family was always gathered nearby (sometimes helping!). Even the laundry was centrally located. Also loved the game room upstairs! The house was just so perfect for family time! Our Marine thoroughly enjoyed his stay. He didn't want to sleep because he wanted to enjoy the house and time with family! We also had a great time riding the golf cart and bikes down to the beach! We will have beautiful memories of our visit! I only wish we could have stayed longer, but work/school schedules didn't allow it.....Thanks Alan and Laura!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I have never took the time to write a review, but this place was the most amazing experience I have ever had. My son was graduating from Bootcamp at Parris Island which is only 30 minutes away. We had many familys coming for graduation so it was better to all stay at one place. The kitchen I can't explain how awesome it is fully equipped with the most beautiful dishes and glasses. We had plenty of cooks this was so much fun. We also had ages from 13 to 79. Plenty of room for privacy, the gameroom upstairs is amazing with a pooltable, fooseball table, they also had a community pool. The golfcart was alot of fun to see the beach and everthing around. Hunting beach is right there. Great place to stay I can't say enough!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Wow, what can we say, the Sailfish was absolutely amazing and we loved the house. The house is just like the pictures. It was just the right amount of space, seclusion and amenities to make our vacation fun and relaxing. Our family stayed 10/8/11 -10/15/11. The pool table was used every day, our kids just loved the game room and will cherish the memories they had there as a family. , The ocean was fantastic and very relaxing, all my adult kids loved looking for shells and had a blast. The binder at the house was so so helpful, it told us everything we needed to know and then some with lots of information. We saw our son graduate from Parris Island Boot Camp as a United States Marine, what an amazing experience that was and we will cherish it forever. We where able to bring our son back to the house for much needed relaxation for him and his body.to recuperate from all the training he had been through and spend valuable time with the family. There are not enough words of the memories we will cherish forever at the Starfish. The food at Dockside in Port Royal was excellent. And we really loved the atmosphere at Johnson Creek Tavern. We can not thank you enough for sharing your amazing house with us, we will return to the starfish again sometime. We had our third family vacation at this wonderful home. There were 11 people three generations and we all loved the secluded location of this home. There was no traffic so the grandchildren could run wild, we felt we were the only people on the island. This home was everything we hoped for and a lot more. The size of the bed rooms were awesome! We held a tournament sequence game every evening. During the day we rested on the beach and watch the kids and grandchildren play in the waves. After the vacation, everyone wants us to have a family vacation every year at the same location.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Wow, what a great week we had last week!! We stayed at the Sailfish 5/28 - 6/4. Everyone had a wonderful time. The house was just as it looks in the pictures but even better. The bathrooms are not pictured but are just fabulous too. Everything you need is there. The house was so clean and very well maintained. Lots of room for everyone and so much to keep every age entertained. We celebrated 2 birthdays while we were there, my husband and my sister (both 50 something). We had 30 years olds, 20 year olds, and kids (one 16 year old and two five year olds). Everyone is wanting to go back again and we were so sad when the week ended. We ate out 2 nights and enjoyed cooking the other meals in the great kitchen and on the outdoor grill. Every meal was eaten on the fabulous back porch. The food was good but even better when enjoyed with the great views and cool area. The golf cart and bicycles were so handy and so fun. We loaded up to the pool and the beach on the golf cart. The pool was nice and we actually had it to ourselves at times during the days spent there. The little ones had a blast on the play area too. The alligators and bird area right by the pool was a favorite spot to stop and check as we rode by in the golf cart. We went to Hunting Island for two full days. It was just a few minutes from our door. The late night golf cart rides around the neighborhood and to the beach for strolls were a big hit also. Laura was just amazing to work with and as other reviews state, she answers all your questions. She even called us on Sunday after we arrived on Saturday to make sure we had everything needed. I would recommend this house to everyone but the only problem might be that it will be booked when we want to go again. Laura, thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

I hunted for weeks for the perfect place to stay at when we headed from California to South Carolina, a place we had never been before, to watch my baby girl [age 19, but youngest of 6] graduate from boot camp at Parris Island. THIS PLACE WAS IT! The pictures and descriptions do NOT do it justice. Large, beautiful, full of amenities, cleaner than clean. And the wonderful owners even provided us with a Chrstmas tree since our daughter had missed Christmas while in boot camp! What a welcome sight to our tired Marine! My only complaint is that we did not have more time to spend here. Memories were made here that will last a lifetime! From fun romps in the golf cart, to rides on the bikes [1st time for this ol' mom in about 35 years], to billiards competitions, to beautiful sunrises and sunsets & strolls on the beach...the list just goes on and on. The owners of this house CARE about making your experience there PERFECT. And, ours was: PERFECT!.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed together with our three daughters and two granddaughters (2 & 4) for a family reunion at the Sailfish. The house is very clean, well maintained and offers plenty of space; the photos give a very good impression about the house. As we all live in urban areas (close to Cologne and Boston) the serenity of the place with clear starry nights was a welcome change. The house is close to the beaches of Harbor Island - only a short ride with the golf cart or the bicycles - or Hunting Island; both beaches are ideal for little kids with shallow waters and hardly any surf. There is a good selection of restaurants, although only two (Johnson Creek Tavern and Boondocks) are close; more are about a 15 mile drive away in Beaufort, a quaint little town with a very nice waterfront park. We made good use of the kitchen in the house; it is very well equipped including a selection of spices. I can recommend the house to anybody who can live without the hustle and bustle of a typical beach town and who enjoys a leisurely vacation surrounded by unspoiled nature.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Your recommendation is perfect! Thanks so much, we enjoyed having you and hope you can return again.

Thanks to the Foreman's hospitality and beautiful home, the twelve of us had a wonderful weekend celebrating my birthday. We especially loved the view, the furnishings, and use of the bicycles and club car.The Foremans were very helpful with information about the house and surrounding area and descriptions of restaurants and seafood shops in the area. We had 6 small children and they all had fun at the beach and playing in the yard. A wonderful weekend! We all wished we had a couple more days to enjoy the home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The Sailfish was the perfect home for our family vacation. The home is beautiful and the owners have thought of everything. We loved riding the golf cart down to the beach and pool, relaxing on the spacious deck, playing pool in the gameroom and having such a spacious kitchen where we could cook and eat together. We recommend buying fresh shrimp at Gay's Seafood and fresh vegetables/fruits at any of the nearby produce stands. The guys had a fantastic deep sea fishing trip with "No Worries" fishing charter, which had been recommended by the owners. They started catching fish as soon as their hooks hit the water! We also enjoyed some wonderful restaurants in Beaufort, especially Barbara Jean's, Plum's and Blackstone's. The Sailfish was perfect for a very relaxing week with our family and it exceeded our expectations. The owners were especially helpful and always eager to answer our questions and provide information. We highly recommend this beautiful home!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for all of the kind comments you have entered. No Worries was highly recommended by a good friend of my husbands and I was so pleased to hear it was a successful fishing excursion. Many thanks for the pictures, I will share them with future guests. Barbara Jean's is consistently a favorite with my guests as well as us. The back porch is my favorite "spot" at the Sailfish. When my husband designed the house he wanted a space large enough to accomodate our family and friends. Thanks again, it has been a pleasure doing business with you. Laura

Just got home yesterday from our stay in the Sailfish from 7/24/10 - 7/31/10. The house was just as described and even more beautiful in person. There were 5 of us in the house, ages 53, 51, 31, 29 and 2. We had a very relaxing family vacation in this home. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything that you could imagine. We did not even have to go out to eat! We bought fresh seafood from the Gay Seafood Co. which we grilled and steamed. It was excellent! Riding in the golf cart was the biggest hit for my little grandson. We loved the large deck out back from which we saw deer, raccoons, osprey, pelicans and crabs. We also visited Hunting Island State Park and Fripp Island which were just minutes away from the house. Laura was extemely helpful providing information and answering all our questions. We would definitely rent this house again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Lisa for the great review. We enjoy the kitchen and back porch as well. We never eat out either, it is just too much fun to cook for family and friends when they visit the Sailfish. The house was designed and built by my husband...hence the large open kitchen which we all enjoy. I think I could live on the back porch with the views and the breeze...if only I could convince Big Al (my husband) to move the hammock from under the house to the back porch. Thanks again, I hope you can visit the Sailfish again...we would love to have you! Laura Foreman

We rented the Sailfish for our 1st ever family vacation. We had 11 staying for a week at this location and we had a wonderful, relaxing time. Our ages ranged from 2 to 67 and there was room for all. The home is very nicely furnished, had everything one could ask for, and very well taken care of. There is a golf cart ride to get most anywhere (pool or beach), NO grocery or restaurant on property which caused a problem, but all in all we managed fine. We did not know when going that in order to get on a golf course you had to have your own home club call and get a tee time. Our guys played Fripp Island (only a couple miles away) and Harbour Town on Hilton Head thanks to our sons Pro. We took way too many pieces of clothing as this is a very laid back area. The restaurants near by were excellent but most of all the fresh seafood was outstanding, and the fish market was just down the road. I would say any family would enjoy working with Laura the owner and what they have to offer at the Sailfish. Highly recommend. A good time was enjoyed by ALL! On May 1, 2010 we had a sibling reunion of 2 brothers (from California) and a sister (from Delaware) and their spouses. I chose this house from the internet listing and all was exactly as stated. It's a wonderful home with plenty of room and amenities. We especially enjoyed the main room with the comfortable chairs and the long counter. All could be together while meals were prepared, cocktails were drunk, and books/papers were read. It was great. The bedrooms were as depicted--roomy and comfortable. The back deck overlooked the marsh where we saw a few of the local critters. The location is very private and quiet. We enjoyed local trips to Hunting Island and the lighthouse, Beaufort, and played golf at Lady's Island and Sanctuary at Cat Island. Both courses incorporate the local style and were a pleasure to play, although I would rank Cat Island the better course. A trip to Savannah was a wonderful day and I would highly recommend the narrated tour of the city aboard the open sided trolleys. All in all, we had a wonderful week and would go back to The Sailfish in a heart beat. Laura was extremely easy to work with and provided a great deal of help in preparation for our arrival.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Laura and Alan Words cannot express the thanks we have for the use of your home while in South Carolina. This house could not have been better for the vacation we were seeking. The sailfish being in a closed community, in a remote section of the island was perfect. I loved every minute spent in this house. It was what I would have wanted if I could have some how physically transported my own home to the South Carolina coast for a week. I had time spent with my family away from many distractions and particularly time with my son who finished Marine Corp boot camp at Parris Island. This time spent with him was priceless as it allowed an inactive Marine (no such thing as former Marine) to talk with and pass on wisdom gained to a new Marine. This time spent will forever be etched in our memories and who knows we could see a return to the South Carolina Coast for another vacation like this one. Many Blessings and Thanks The BradfordsDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

There are so many things we were able to enjoy in the area including the beaches, the food, and the shopping. We were able to take in so many experiences such as dolphin watching, sunset bike riding on the beach, searching for shells during low tide, and numerous other memories we will cherish. We all agree though that the best part of our vacation was all the time we spent together as a family in The Sailfish playing scrabble/billiards/fooseball, having conversations on the porch, and stargazing on the upperdeck. The home was so relaxing, clean comfortable, and very well equipped that we didn't lack for anything. Six of us (three brothers/wives) stayed at the Sailfish in July of 2009. We had a wonderful time. All of our expectations were met or exceeded. The house is spotless and well-equipped. My husband is a birder and he was surprised and delighted to find the birding so good right around the house and on the beach. We had hours of fun playing pool, which is not something we normally do. There was a small problem with the golf cart and Laura called several times in order to make sure that it was resolved. I just can't say enough about how impressed we were. We feel that we got a great bargain here and we intend to come back many more times!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

In the last week of May, 2009, my brother (LA), my sister (NH) and I (NC) had our first ever family reunion at the Sailfish, along with most of our children and grandchildren. We filled the house to capacity (14 or 15), ages 3-62, but with all the rooms, porches, decks and the "sandbox" under the house, we never felt crowded. The house was better than advertised, and Laura called to make sure we had everything we needed. The views are fabulous, the kitchen easily handled cooking for a crowd, and we kept the game room busy every night. The neighborhood is wooded, about 10 degrees cooler than the beach, which was very refreshing when returning in the golf cart from a day on the beach. There is so much to do in the area. We did a day trip to Savanah and another day in Beaufort. There is a neat little hands-on aquarium for younger kids on Hunting Island, as well as a historic lighthouse. We saw all sorts of wildlife from the back porch including osprey, deer and raccoons. We were too early for the sea turtle migration, but just in time for horseshoe crabs. It was a great time, and the younger kids still want to know why we all can't just move to the Sailfish.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Mom and I had a few days of Serenity at The Sailfish before the rest of the family arrived. The whole first floor is an open concept and as my father would have said "lots of dancing room". The whole house was impecably clean, neat and had everything that we could have wanted for our stay. All the beds were comfortable, with plenty of pillows and extra blankets, the bathrooms a good size (and a lucious tub in the one of the master suites), plenty of parking. A back stairway to get right to kitchen with your goodies. The back porch was the perfect place to eat (two tables), relax, listen to music (outside speakers) or just listen to the birds (there is a birdfeeder). Not far from the clubhouse or the beach, lovely narrow winding road to and from the main road of Harbor Island. Stop at Publix or Food Lion on the way in (both are 10 miles from house) We were there for my nephew's graduation from Marine Corps Boot Camp and it was a perfect time for the family who came from NY and us from FL to spend together. We made signs, baked brownies and had a wonderful buffet for our new Marine before he and his brother and girlfriend ascended upstairs for games of pool, foosball and darts. I would recommend The Sailfish for any number of getaways, family reunions or other gatherings. The owners were very helpful and resourseful and they have provided a wonderfull Information Book about the house and the local area. Don't forget to read the Guest Book - lots of helpful info from former guests. Sunrises on the back porch with coffee, midnight stars on the upper back porch, and "light shows" out towards the ocean when it storms. We all had a wonderful time and I would love to return..Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

For this troika each family immensely enjoyed themselves. The surounding beaches are full of wild life, the Gay Fish Co. has excellent seafood and between the ocean & the pool each child got waterlogged at some point (8 in total). The adult drink of juice was the Mohito. We celebrated my 43rd birthday here and look forward to celebrating more. The walks on the beach in the morning were great, and we enjoyed the great views of Hunting Island.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a spectaclar experience in your cottage on Harbor Island. In the morning, our early risers would get their cup of coffee or tea and go out on the deck of the main floor. The view combined w/brilliant sun rises and the smell of coffee gave us a relaxed feeling. Sometimes the atmosphere felt similar to what it would be like in some of the countries in Africa. Our family very much enjoyed your regal dish ware. The bikes and the golf cart were very helpful for moving around the island. Sometimes around sunset Emma would ride her bike areound the area and it made quite an impression on her about the beauty of nature. The game room was entertaining and the view from the south made it possible to see beaurty no matter from which angle or place one stood. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in this cottage and experience the breathtaking beauty of Harbor Island.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

With three grown children, spouses, and now six grandchildren (ranging from 9 years to 8 weeks), living as far away as Japan, it is very rare that all of us (the rest living in Marietta, Seajia, and Bermington, AL)get together for extended periods of time. Although we are still missing our sweet son-in-law Christopher in Japan, John and Jamie felt so blessed to have everyone else with us. To have a house that would hold us all and allow so much together and private time as well was wonderful. Although we have stayed many times at Harbor Island, we had not stayed in the marsh side and just LOVED it!!!! The porch was one of our favorite spots for anything from early coffee to late evening and watching the thunderstorm and lightning. Our grandchildren loved riding in the golf cart, and it was a special treat to have one last round after supper. We had so looked forward to this week together, and it exceeded our expectations in so many ways. You have made "The Sailfish" so comfortable for all who visit her! Memories in such a beautiful home! We hope to visit her much more in the future. Summer 2009 is sonner than we think.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our stay at the "Sailfish" has been wonderful! We have enjoyed all that is offered here. Fireworks were enjoyed from our top balcony of the Fripp Island display as well as close up behind "Bubba's". Our son was able to spend the last 5 days of his leave with us. He returned to Iraq, Bagdad 7/4/08. He was able to fly from Charleson to Atlanta rather than drive back to Tennesse early. We all enjoyed food prep in your well equipped kitchen; enjoy the muffin tin.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Never before have we visited South Carolina's lowcountry. Without a doubt we will return again soon. Our stay in the Sailfish was a delight-beautiful surroundings, peaceful & comfortable. Food may be amongst our most treasured memories. Fresh shrimp, ample produce, yummy pies. We made good use of the kitchen! Thank you so much for opening your home to us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Email-We have returned home from our trip to see our nephew/son/brother/grandson/cousin/boyfriend, etc. graduate from Marine bootcamp. To say we are all proud would be an understatement! We had such a good time enjoying The Sailfish would also be an understatement. The house was awesome, to have a covered porch was great when we had rain, which was also more that we expected; however timing made it a good experience. While I know that many people chose to stay closer to Parris Island, I would highly recommend using VRBO and The Sailfish that it should be top of the list for people like us with a big family. Thank You! God Bless you and all your family! L. Turner and all of her family!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

July 27-August 4, 2007: The Kane, Caruthers, Johnston and Urdiales families had a wonderful time in your lovely home-The Sailfish. It's like visiting a home featured in a national magazine-beautiful and well equipped. We visited Beaufort and Savannah. If you go to Savannah, don't miss out on Loepold's Ice Cream, Molly McPhersons's was really good for lunch, too. We are used to going back and forth to the beach and pool several times a day; that was rather inconvenient. We were happy that you enabled us to share your lovely beach house. The Baas, McCain & Glace families enjoyed their stay at 69 Ocean Marsh Lane. It was a great place to come together from all over the globe for the first time in 5 years (family reunion). Everyone had fun signing the cast of the 14 year old that got bit by the gator (he had just read the sign that informed him that it's illegal to hurt the gator so he tried to befriend it hee hee-just kidding). We had a lot of fun here-we loved the house-a great time was had by all. The Sailfish is a lovely home where we all were able to reconnect as a family and laugh heartily. The mornings and evenings found the adults chatting on the deck and enjoying the view of the marsh and water. Teh kids loved the game room and bike riding. The beach and the pool were equally popular for sun and fun. Oh yeah, I almost forgot-there is an amazing owl who came to visit the tree next to the back deck on a couple of evenings-awesome. We also took time to enjoy the area with kayaking, horseback riding and a special tour of Fort Jackson in Savannah. The Low Country is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your home, The Glaces, McCains & Baas.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

6/23/07-6/30/07 What a relaxing week! It was wonderful to spend time in such a beautiful house, equipped for all our needs! We had beautiful weather, bright sun & great sea breezes. It was great spending lazy afternoons reading on the back porch. Our children enjoyed boogieboarding at Hunting Island Beach and swimming in the HI pool. We all found your binder very helpful in orienting ourselves to this area. Your advice was very useful. It was definitely a great relaxing vacation! The Lippincott's, The Morris's & The Watson's-Macedonia, Ohio Email dated 7/1/07-We really enjoyed our stay in your beautiful house. Waht a beautiful breeze off your rear porch. We could not have asked for better weather. I could have done without the mosquitos, though. We did go over to Hunting Island so the kids could ride their little surf boards in the bigger waves-R. The Albrinck, Capannan, Croxson and Meale families spent a wonderful week at the Sailfish from June 9-16, 2007. The weather was beautiful and we loved watching the tides come in from the decks. The kids were enthralled with the golf cart and loved taking rides to the pool and the beach. The island was very peaceful. We loved the shops in downtown Beaufort and would highly reommend the Upper Crust if you're in the mood for pizza/subs. The house had everything you could possibly need-it was decorated beautifully! We'll definitely think of The Sailfish the next family trip. Thanks so much! Email dated 6/18/07-Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time last week. The house was beautiful and worked out perfectly for our family. AmyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The week of June 2-9 all of us, The Archers, Irons, and Warne families spent a lovely week here at The Sailfish. Weather was good and we enjoyed the beautiful decks both up and down. The marshes are absolutely beautiful to behold! We took our early morning coffee watching the birds and the wildlife. Thank you for your folder of information, it was very helpful in our plans for each day. We hope to come again to once more enjoy the culture of The Low County.
