"The Montreal House" - Old World Elegance, Modern Amenities
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Montreal
We bought this house from the ORIGINAL owners who bought it back in 1890, and had passed it down from generation to generation. So, even though they decided to sell it, they were extremely concerned that it go to someone who would cherish it as much as they did. We completely renovated it while keeping all of its original character and I have to say, it's a warm and inviting house that has been well-loved for over a century.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The single most wonderful thing about our property is that we are on the plateau in the center of Montreal, and yet we live on a quiet, tree-lined street. You will feel a little like you are in Europe because everything in the neighborhood is unique - from the butcher and the baker to the cheese shop that boasts the most amazing selection of cheese, deli and coffee. The restaurants are steps away, as are stores and cafes. It's one of the French speaking areas of Montreal but people are very friendly and speak English too!
This is a Montreal's largest park and at the top of its highest point is the illuminated "cross" which was put up in honor of Georges-tienne Cartier, who claimed this land for France. Mount Royal is
The world famous smoked meat deli is literally only a few hundred yards from the house. Also, on this street are all the butchers, cheese shops, bakers, and delicatessens.
Full of cafes, restaurants, shops, and jazz clubs. It is the main street in French-speaking Montreal and is full of life and activity.
Home to both family and romantic restaurants where you can bring your own wine!!
Owner's Map of Montreal
Hi, thanks for looking at our property. I was raised in Montreal and bought this house because I would like to return to Montreal in the coming years. My best friends, who manage the property, live two doors down so it's a perfect situation. I am a psychotherapist who is training to be an analyst, so this is where I come to relax and unwind every year. The kitchen, which we added, is my dream kitchen, and every time I am in Montreal it is where my friends and I meet to share old memories and create new ones.

Hi Kerry, Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay in your house. All the little touches like the bath robes, coffee, bath puff were fantastic. It was so easy to get places and the little Portuguese store was so good to use when I realised we had run out of things just before breakfast! We have stayed in many holiday rentals and yours is definitely in the top 3. Take care Liz

Hi, Kerry-- I just wanted again to thank you for allowing us to use your home for our stay in Montreal. We had a fabulous time, and my brother and sister-in-law are still raving about it to my parents. Having a wonderful home base was an important part of our getaway...if you are interested, we may elect to rent it again for the Jazz Festival next year. Anyway, thanks so much. Take care. Linda
