Overall we were very happy with the Loons Nest accommodations and we had a good week. The home is nice with some good amenities. The large kitchen is definitely a plus (as our family loves to cook). We appreciated having the dishwasher, microwave and toaster oven as well as the regular oven. It was also nice to have a washer and dryer in the home. The refridgerator/freezer has good space, however the ice maker did not work at all. The path to the lake is nice and we enjoyed using the pontoon. We were a bit disappointed about the condition of the water and the fact that we were unable to swim off the dock d/t weeds and poor water condition. We were also disappointed that there was no boat landing/access to the lake. I should have clarified this during our phone conversation prior to our arrival that the boat access was for the chain of lakes, not Tambling. The issues we noted during our stay are as follows: Futon leg (on the large futon) is broken Futon chair (closest to the front door) seems to be broken- it did not sit correctly The screen door off the dining area is ripped Toilet in the master bedroom uses warm water- we have never heard of that before and are wondering if it was connected wrong. When the seat is left down, the warm water causes condensation on the seat… thus a wet seat when you sit down. The toilet seat in the master bedroom was broke and my husband fixed it (it would slide side to side when someone sat down). Toilet near the main room was running constantly every time it was flushed- my cousin fixed this while we were there. Air conditioning did not work- no air flow through the vents. When we used the pontoon the first time it had not been cleaned- we had to wipe it down before using. Also the gas and oil were low and we filled both during the week. The cover for the pontoon is torn and was rolled up in a ball on the pontoon. Propane tank for the grill was only half full when we arrived with no back up tanks. Although we didn’t use all of the half tank, we bought a new one to leave at the home Numerous light bulbs burned out inside the home and outside. We replaced these during our stay. My husband fixed a light bulb ring in the kitchen as it had no light bulb in it and the ring was hanging out. We did enjoy our week overall. However, most people don't want to perform any "rountine household maintenance" during vacation and want a clean, well maintained environment.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

We have stayed at the Loon's Nest in the Fall, Winter and Summer months. The House is very clean and has all that we needed for a comfortable and relaxing vacation. The crystal clear lake is an extremely calming place to sit by on the dock or in the pontoon. I love taking long walks through the woods. And if you like good food and shopping, Eagle River has it all. If you are a crosscountry skiier or snowmobiler, this is the place to go. And when you get home from your winter activities, you can relax by the crackling fire. We love it and will be back again soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My 6 children and grandchildren spent 4 days and enjoyed a much needed family vacation. The location is very peaceful and the lake view is beautiful. The setup was perfect for my family and easily could have accomodated more. Lots of nice restaurants in the area and a quick drive to town. I would highly recommend the Loon's Nest.....A great stay!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

All one would want and much more, set in a beautiful cabin/home in the woods on lake Tambling. Step out of the sliding glass doors onto the deck and breath the fresh, pine scents, hear the calls of the wild things, but most of all and perhaps best of all, just listen to the solitude. Then as a bonus, be up around midnight, step out once more onto the deck and see what "night" is SUPPOSED to look like. Dark, still, stars, more stars and the "Milky Way". So peaceful and serene, it gives one a sense of the enormity of God's creation. Loved this place, can't wait till next year!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent our first year anniversary at the Loon's Nest and had such a wonderful time. We loved the coziness of the cabin and the fact that it had all the amenities we needed. The kitchen is so well stocked, I was able to whip us up some fantastic meals just as if I was in my own home. The property is beautiful and so peaceful and the surrounding areas are fantastic for walks. We loved being able to spend the mornings enjoying our coffee on the deck and the evenings relaxing by the fireplace with a glass of wine. In addition, since we had never been to Eagle River we really appreciated the owners answering all of our questions and providing suggestions for places to go. On our actual anniversary night we had one of the best meals we've ever had at a nearby restaurant they suggsted....Lanny's Fireside in Conover. Sooo incredibly good. Food was outstanding and the service impeccable. It was a memorable weekend and we will most certainly come again...this time perhaps with a group of friends as there is plenty of room. Thank you!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

In January we stayed at the LOON'S Nest for our 2nd time, it has always been wonderful; clean and comfortable! Our last two visits have been in the winter, it's a super location for snowmobilers (.25 miles from the trail!). The beds are super comfy, and the quiet is overwhelming. We cant wait to go back this summer with our families. Great location, close to lost of great food joints ( Twelve Pines has great fish and Pizza) the resort down the rode is a hoot! Great place for a night out or family Fun.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I love to snowmobile, and the Loon's Nest was the perfect place for us to stay. It's so great to walk out of the house, hop on the sleds, and be on the trails in minutes. The house is great, and everything you need is there. I especially enjoyed the decor, and the comfortable furniture. I slept so good in that bed! It's an amazing setting, and the owner's think of even the smallest details. We discovered Christmas lights both inside and out - that was impressive in my book! I can't wait to go back. We intend on making it an annual trip, and want to see it in the summertime, too!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owners lied to us repeatedly. Had trouble with the pontoon boat. Place smell like urine. We highly recommend you look elsewhere.Recommended for: Tourists without a car
Owner response: The two couples decided to rent with us and I had quoted them one price. They then decided to take the pontoon and informed them that it would be an extra $300 for the pontoon. We normally charge $650 additional for the pontoon, but because they were being very wishy washy about everything from the very beginning, I just decided to go along with the $300. That is the first time we have ever given a discount on the pontoon. We have a 2005 Palm Beach pontoon and it is in great condition. We have never had one complaint on the boat since we starting renting. They also brought up a fishing boat and from what they were saying, they went on the chain quite a bit, so probably did not use the pontoon as much as they thought they would. They are making excuses, because they want their money back on the pontoon, but they signed a legal rental contract to include the pontoon. It is impossible that the place smells like urine, because we just put all new flooring down. We were there twice since these renters were there and we did not or did any of our friends, smell anything. We also took the pontoon out for three days and without a problem. Once on our lake and twice on the chain with 2 other couples present. We had an awesome rental season this year and not one complaint. Almost every renter either emailed or called to say what a beautiful place we have and what a wonderful time they had. And they all rented the pontoon as well, with no issues. We have no problems giving a refund back if it truly was for a valid reason, but they are lying and obviously unscrupulous.

We spend the weekend at the Loons Nest and the property is spectacular. We will tell all of our friends that this is by far the best property in the Eagle River area. The house is beautifully decorated and so cozy with the fireplace and interior furnishings. We could not think of one thing that was missing. Planning our next trip soon. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a good time in Eagle River on a private, peaceful lake. Thank you Lynn, Jennifer and SydneyOwner response: Thank you so much for your wonderful comments. We are so glad that you had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. We strive to make "Tambling Lake Loon's Nest" a place where everyone will be comfortable and can create beautiful, long lasting memories that will last a life time. Thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again in the near future.

Very nice place; newly built with well appointed and large kitchen. Upstairs bedrooms over garage (Bunkhouse) do not have a full bath and retained the daytime heat - definitely a disadvantage compared to the main house. All in all a very nice place.Owner response: There is a half bath in the bunk house because it is basically just used for extra sleeping quarters, but there are 2 3/4 baths in the main house, just footsteps away. We are working on putting central air in both the main house and the bunk house. Thank you!
