This well kept home was completely equiped with everything we needed to make our 3 week stay perfect. The patio presented a peaceful setting of lagoon, golf course and wildlife. Easy access to the beach and great golf. Having stayed at a variety of places on Hilton Head Island over the past 20 years we would rate Mary Lou and Richard's home our number one choice and have already booked for next year.

CORNY BUT TRUE - IT'S OUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME

When we arrived after a long journey, the bright, well-appointed villa, with its soft colours, attractive wall hangings, and comfortable sofas made us feel right at home. Not to mention the unbelievably relaxing LAZY BOY chair! Every night, we'd climb into the king-sized bed, sleep like babies and wake up to the singing of the birds. We enjoy entertaining and the well-equipped kitchen was perfect for dinner parties. Our guests enjoyed the view of the golf course and the peaceful lagoon bordered with live oaks; and just across the greens, a second lagoon with its tall trees, where egrets like to perch. Kudos to the Carrolls for offering a beautiful spot for a memorable vacation!

The villa was as described, very clean and comfortable. Richard and Mary Lou were helpful and made it very clear they were always available if we needed anything or had any questions. The villa and L-shaped patio offers a wonderful view of the golf course. The villa, in St Andrews Common, is centrally located on the island, and offers easy access to many restaurants, shopping and groceries. It is very easy to access the beach by bike or car. We would highly recommend this villa to others.

A very well appointed, clean and comfortable villa. A private patio with a view that is so relaxing. It is all that the ad says it is and all that you would want in a vacation spot. Mary Lou is organized and efficient yet very personable and concerned about your stay. A winner all round.

My wife and I returned to the island after being away for about 8 years while our kids were finishing college and we were very pleased upon arriving at the villa as it was as advertised very clean and well maintained and with the villa being on the corner of the complex with a great view of the golf course it gave you the feeling of being private. The owners were very helpfull recommending things to do and places to eat. We especially liked the Sunrise Cafe for breakfast and Truffels for dinner. We would without reservation recommend this villa to family or friends,not only because of the villa being as nice as it was but because of how the owners went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

Beautiful Condo

We highly recommend Mary Lou and Richard's condo. It was clean and full stocked with all the necessities: paper towels, toilet paper, kleenex, laundry detergent, soap...even a bottle of wine! :) No need to bring much with you. Mary Lou made the reservation process easy and she kept me updated along the way. So much personal attention! The golf course views were beautiful....even with the alligator as our neighbor! We had beautiful September weather during our stay which made biking around the island ideal. A definite A+ experience. Thanks, Mary Lou and Richard!

We would highly recommend this beautiful condo to those considering coming to Hilton Head Island. Richard and Mary Lou provided everything we needed while visiting - including beach umbrella, chairs, movies etc. and their hospitality was great. My husband and I along with our daughter and her family had a great week in Hilton Head. Although we have been coming to the island for over 30ty years, this was our first time staying at this condo and it was a great experience. Beautifully decorated, clean and very convenient to everything. The owners were so easy to work with and they have just about thought of everything to make your vacation experience a great one. The condo is as nice as it photos. Highly recommend staying here.

My family absolutely loved the condo. It is nicely updated and very clean. The view of the lagoon and golf course is spectacular. We have stayed at numerous condos inside St. Andrews and feel that this is the nicest by far. The owners were very helpful with suggestions on restaurants on the island.

A heavenly relaxing place

If you like warm sunshine, sandy beaches, and clean accommodations, this is the condo for you. This place puts you right in the middle of what Hilton Head Island has to offer. Very clean and serene, this condo has all the ammenities of home plus the views of a vacation. This is our 5th time renting this condo and would recommend to everyone. Hassle free, pool 500 feet away, nature everywhere you look, and the ocean 3/4 miles away. If you like golf, it's right outside the back door. A security entry door with combination lock so no keys to worry about(nice feature). Wireless internet worked great so we could sit on the patio and access the internet. Just minutes by car or bike to anywhere and anything. Don't pass this place up. Right on the ground floor for easy moving in and out. A pond out the back door with fountain makes relaxing a dream. Thanks Richard & Mary Lou for a wonderful vacation........AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your condo was like a little cottage in the woods. The small lagoon and view of the golf course added to the setting but the way your apartment was so well furnished, with everything one might need was especially appreciated. Some of the best seafood we had was bought at a fresh market and prepared on your George Foreman grill. We really like the Skull Creek Boathouse. We had a picnic table next to the dock and the food (Red Snapper and Salmon) was excellent. We also enjoyed breakfast at Sunset Cafe. And we learned that Robert Irvine's Restaurant has a Tuesday night 1/2 price special on Tapas. You really should call the week before you arrive for a reservation. Robert Irvine made his way from table to table and was very personable.

This villa is as comfortable, clean, and pretty as it looks in the pictures. There are a lot of lovely extra touches that you don't usually find. The house is stocked with paper products, laundry detergent and other supplies that make it so easy to settle in immediately. You can tell that the Carroll's care about this home and you feel like a very special guest because of it. Thank you, Mary Lou and Richard, for making our vacation so comfortable! We can't help but think that you probably had something to do with the gorgeous weather too!

Beautiful location and condo that creates comfort and rest

For several years now I have rented this condo in St. Andrews Common. It is ideal for all the normal reasons - beach, golf, sun, restaurants, etc. but it is the other "not normal" issues that I enjoy in addition to the normal; such as, clean, comfortable, easy to navigate, quiet and feels like home. I can't wait each year to return and get that much needed rest from the hustle and bustle of the ever increasing pressure of life. I would definitely recommend this condo for anyone who would enjoy a beautiful location, clean, fresh and ideal. Hilton Head Island's Gem.

Here at last! We kick off our shoes, relax in the villa's southern charm, and begin to unwind. As we drink our morning coffee, we see egrets at the edge of our lagoon, their long necks stretching out to catch fish and other morsels. They keep a watchful eye on Moses, the lagoon's resident alligator, as he swims by, his leathery back glistening in the sun. In the late afternoon, we'll sip chilled white wine on the patio, and watch the golfers. In the villa's modern, well equipped kitchen, we can make anything from hot dogs to roast beef with all the trimmings. The spacious living room is bathed in sunshine as we read our morning paper. Through the large windows, we see live oak, their branches dripping with Spanish moss. When night closes in, tired from walking the nearby beach and cycling the miles of trails, we'll be ready to sink into the comfortable king-sized bed in our beautiful master bedroom. Tomorrow night, we're going to dine at Charlie's L'etoile Verte, a local favourite, one of over 250 restaurants on the island. We've just spent our ninth winter in this idyllic paradise. Life is good!

St. Andrew's Common condo

We have been visiting Hilton Head for the past 20 years and this is one of the nicest condos that we have rented. We have rented it previously and will do so in the future. St. Andew's Common in Palmeto Dunes is stategically located mid-island which makes it convenient to al that Hilton Head has to offer. The owners of the condo have decorated it well and are great to work with to arrange a visit.

Beautiful villa

We recently returned from our stay at this St. Andrews Common villa. We were very pleased with renting from Mary Lou and Richard; they were very professional in their correspondences and made everything very easy for us. The villa is exactly as described and pictured. They have stocked the unit with everything that you can imagine you would need during your stay at Hilton Head. We were most impressed with how updated and well- kept the villa was. It did not seem like one that has been rented- it shows that the owners really have taken great care of it and pride themselves in their guests having a wonderful stay. There were only two negatives that we could find: we wish there had been a regular gas grill for cooking out (they have an electric George Foreman on the patio) and St. Andrews Common property is pretty far off of the beach. (We have mostly stayed oceanfront so yes, we were spoiled). Obviously this factor was known to us before renting, but with the heat of August, even waiting 10 minutes for the Dunes Buggy was tough. We drove to the beach afterward, but parking was very limited during prime beach season. Some wouldn't find this a hindrance at all and I am sure is a non issue during most of the other parts of the year. It is a delightful place to stay and you couldn't ask for a better rental experience from the owners. I highly recommend it.

We had a great time with all the things we found to do, to eat. to buy, to discover, restaurants, theater, music and besides that we had perfect weather! Fascinated with the chorus from the frogs along the lagoon and the real live alligators! We were extremely pleased with your villa and all the amenities. We felt so comfortable from the second we walked in -- the location adds to the mystique of the whole experience. We had a very relaxing time at the Caroll's comfortable condo in Hilton Head. The pictures really do depict how nice & convenient everything is at 1870 St. Andrews' Common. The weather cooperated so we actually had a bit of suntan from the October sun. The temps were about 80 and the water temps were just right. Try the PD Outfitters for renting bikes. It was fun and not expensive. While our drive from Long Island was long, we will consider staying here again, but I might just fly next time.

We stayed at this condo in July 2008. The condo was perfect for our family. It was in great condition and we really liked the floor plan. The condo is very convenient to the pool and the lagoon which was one of our favorite places to watch the turtles and alligators. We all rented bikes and rode them everywhere, including down to another plantation and on the beach. The beautiful trees and flowers provided lots of shade. Great convenient location, beautiful setting, lovely decor, relaxing atmosphere...what else could we ask for over Labor Day? We loved in and plan to come back. It's about a mile to the closest beach access, so bring your sneekers or rent a bike. We loved it!

My two friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our week in the villa. Beautifully decorated, roomy enough for three women (and all THAT entails!), and numbers to call if something went wrong! Although I don't cook, my friends fixed some delicious meals in the fully equipped kitchen and having our wine on the patio looking over the lagoon was SO peaceful. We do hope to return...Jan

Hi, we stayed at this rental in May. It was everything the owners said and more. You felt like you were personal friends with them and were staying in their home. We just returned from our second relaxing visit to the Carroll's in St. Andrews Common. It is such a lovely place and has everything you would want. Very peaceful and quiet, with a gorgeous view of the golf course and the egrets nesting in the trees on the island across the pond. We even saw turtles and alligators in the ponds. We had perfect weather, rented bikes and kayaks, went to the beach daily and ate at the hotel patios for lunch. If you have never rented a kayak here - be sure to do so - very isolated and calm, we truly felt like explorers on the Amazon and were able to see so many unusual birds, falcons, fish, etc. There were also unlimited restaurants to choose from for dinner. Mary Lou and Richard have everything so well organized - piles of pamphlets explaining activitiy options and restaurant menus. The condo truly feels like a home - very tastefully decorated and comfortable. We hope to return next year. Thank you for such a lovely week - Gary and Diana

We have visited Hilton Head 9 out of the last 12 years and stayed at 5 different locations (Sea Pines, Folly Field, and three in Palmetto Dunes, including this villa). This is our family-of-four's favorite place. The location is terrific - central on the island, private within St. Andrews Commons, and yet just steps from the pool. It's an easy bike ride to the beach or along the golf course at night. The pictures don't capture the beauty of the villa - it is very nice, clean and up-to-date. We enjoy breakfast and lunch most everyday enjoying the beautiful view from the patio, and our children love to see the turtles, snowy egrets, and alligator(s) in "our backyard". One of the things we like best is arriving on the island with our keys already in-hand (no waiting in lines to check in once you've made it to the island). We have rented this villa 5 times, and we look forward to many more great vacations here.

If you would like a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life, stay at this luxurious villa, and you won't be disappointed. It is clean, decorated tastefully, and spacious. It overlooks a lagoon and golf course. You can enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds you. Turtles and blue herons are in your backyard. The villa has a pool and bike paths close by. The Carroll's Villa at Palmetto Dunes is a bright, clean and roomy condo with a peaceful view of the golf course and lagoon. It is a perfect retreat for two couples or a small family. The condo was beautiful! We have been coming to HH for many years and have never stayed in a condo that was as clean as this one. It is beautifully decorated and very up-to-date which you also do not find in a lot of the rentals. Palmetto Dunes is a beautiful place and the condo is in a very convenient location to enjoy it all, but yet is very convenient to get to the outside world. We will be coming back again - hopefully next year!

The 1870 property is a wonderful place to stay. Quiet, comfortable, and easy access to all places to see and do on Hilton Head Island. Minutes from the ocean, a stones throw from the pool,a wonderful view of the golf course and wild life that is apart of the area. This is our 4th trip to the Island and the 2nd time we have stayed in 1870. We won't stay any where else from now on. The property is beautiful and the people are friendly and helpful. We have stayed else where and this is the best.

July 2005. Fantastic week. Beautiful Villa. Wonderful host. I've been renting villas for years. The Carroll's villa was by far the best that I have ever rented.

April 2005 - What a wonderful week in your condo. I have been coming to HH for about 12 years and have used 4 different condos and yours has been by far the most beautiful, well maintained and comportable. I have already booked for the third year next year and I am already longing for the time to come. The Carrolls are the most gracious hosts and I am thankful to receive the benefit of using their home away from home.

5/22/04 Little turtles, big trees, once again, a great "rest" for our vacation - we continue to fall in love with Hilton Head a little more each time we visit. 5/29/04 We had a wonderful week together.
