Location: Manzanita, Northern Coast, Oregon, USA (Manzanita is only a 90 minute drive from Portland, Oregon) View Map
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Keywords: Beach House
Our place is a charming beach house with lots of wood features: oak floors, pine panelling and cedar cathedral ceilings with skylights. There are two private decks separated by a gazebo with a large spa/hot tub that can easily accommodate six people. The side deck has patio furniture and a new grill perfect for barbecue.
The private, master bedroom has high ceilings and a Mexican-style king sized bed with an adjoining full bathroom. The second and third bedrooms are on the opposite side of the great room/dining room, making it easy for two families to share the house. The second and third bedrooms both have queen sized futon beds and face out to the forest.
The house is located at the south end of Manzanita, a quiet residential town with a few great restaurants and shops. We are only half block from one of the most spectacular secluded beaches on Oregon's North Coast. It is bordered on one end by Neahakanie Mountain and on the other by a State Park. The beach ends in a spit and Neahkannie Bay which creates a whole different water landscape than the mighty Pacific Ocean. On the much quieter bay, there is crabbing, seal watching and kayaking.
The house is a 15 minute walk (beach or street) from the town of Manzanita, which is very much in the public eye these days. In 2005, there were articles in Sunset and Coastal Living about this sweet fun town.

Everything we expected. A perfect place to forget your worries as you soak in the hot tub or stroll on the nearby beach. Very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Several nice hikes nearby and views that won't stop! Would recommend this property to friends.

We enjoyed our stay during a nice Oregon Coast storm. The location is perfect for a short walk to the beach. It is also very private and secluded. The house is well stocked with many things to do. Lot's of board games, books, cd's and kitchen. We enjoyed cooking on the grill and sitting in front of a cozy fire each night and soaking in a huge hot tub. No need to venture out while in the comfort of Rivendell. Loved all the candles. Like the pet friendliness and the ease of booking our stay. The owner's of the home have a nice way of making you feel very welcome. We'll be back again. Val

Comment Text: This house was a wonderful beach get away. We have two very small children [3 and under] the value was great and everyone could have their own room. The layout of the house was perfect as we could keep an eye on the children from anywhere. Short walks to town and to the beach saved daddy's shoulders. The home owners are a pleasure to deal with. We especially liked the "booklet" we received from them in advance outlining the area and it's offerrings ex:hikes, restaurants.....We can't wait to return to this cozy little home.

This is the best house I've ever rented on the oregon coast. It's less than a block away from a beautiful, huge, sugar-sand beach and close to several amazing state parks. The house has a super nice giant hot tub in a cool wood hut on the deck. There is also a glass front wood stove which made the evenings very cozy. We found several good restaurants in the area and the shopping in manzanita was surprisingly interesting. There aren't that many stores but they are all full of inexpensive, beautiful, unique, local handcrafts - jewelry, knitting, stained glass, painting, pottery, etc. It seems many Manzanita residents are artists, and the town has a laid-back, fun personality. The owners of this rental were easy to deal with. It is also the least expensive house very near the beach that I found - and I did a lot of research. This place worked great for me, my parents and my child - it is very family friendly, but it also had a lot of romantic touches and I am dreaming of going back there for a week with my husband!

My husband and I spent five days here celebrating our 10th anniversary and we couldnt have asked for a better location or more romantic lodging. The dark woodwork , warm lighting and beautiful stained glass windows gave it a cozy glow and kept us warm and dry even during the near-hurricane strength storm that blew through on the second night. The location is awesome for beach walks, state park bike/horseback rides or energizing walks into town for espresso and yummy well-deserved baked goods. Throw into this mix the biggest hot-tub I've ever seen and you have a recipe for relaxation!!

My wife and I have stayed in five different houses in Manzanita over the past 6 years and so far this property was the best experience we've had, from the cozy warmth from the fireplace (wood stove actually) to the oversize enclosed spa, we really relaxed and came away feeling refreshed. We hope to return for another visit next year.

The beach house was perfect for our family gathering. We loved the quiet, light, bright feel of the house which had a wonderful rustic feel to it. Perfectly located, just a short walk to the beautiful wide open beach, or to town. Great for long walks and we enjoyed a nice loop from the beach through Nehalem State Park (campground) and back to the house. Hot tub is a nice bonus, and I would note that while this house does not have a television, we did not miss it one bit! (we did miss a dishwasher however) ;) We hope to return again- best deal for fully equipped house in Manzanita!

Rivendell is the perfect name for this enchanting beach house. White, powdery sand beach is is nothing short of spectacular. All the conveniences of home, without the nuisance of TV or traffic! Open the windows and drift off to dreamland with the lullabye of the waves on the nearby beach, and the wind whispering through the trees on the property. Be as relaxed or energetic as you like. Not hard to tell how much we enjoyed our stay is it?
