Lakewood Chalet is an elegant and spacious log home located on Shumont Lake, a private extension of Lake Lure in the beautiful Rumbling Bald Mountain Resort, within the Fairfield Mountains of Lake Lure, North Carolina. Lake Lure is a resort destination about 45 minutes east of Asheville. Nearby are the towns of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock.
Lakewood Chalet resides in the private community of Shumont Estates surrounding its own private lake. The home sits among tall, mature trees on a large, nicely landscaped lot directly on the lake. A spacious driveway accommodates four plus cars.
The main floor features a 'great room' with fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows offering an unobstructed view of the trees and the lake. A stone fireplace dominates the room, fitted with realistic gas logs and operated by remote control. There's plenty of comfortable furniture, a nice big 42" FLAT-PANEL 1080p HI-DEFINITION PLASMA TV , with BLU-RAY DVD and 5.1 Hi-Fi SURROUND SOUND speakers and Subwoofer and Dish Network HD satellite service for plenty of entertainment as well as a chess game table with chess set and a fully stocked bookcase for reading selections (perfect... for a rainy day).. Lighting is by scores of candles, cozy lamps, and adjustable down-lights. High-speed WIRELESS INTERNET is accessible throughout the property. Every room is professionally decorated and has ceiling fans.
The large, fully screened rear porches (one on each floor!) look out over the mountain foilage and landscaped rear yard, the outdoor deck, and the quiet lake beyond. Vacant lots on both sides assure quiet and privacy. A lighted stone pathway leads to the cabin entrance as well as down to the lake and your own private dock and rowboat. Swim or paddle, or just enjoy the sun. Behind the Chalet is a beautiful shaded deck with comfortable outdoor furniture, torch lights, another gas grill, and a huge custom-built outdoors free-standing wood-burning fireplace stocked with firewood. Enjoy the sunset away from the evening chill while warming to a bonfire on your private outdoor patio.
The Rumbling Bald Mountain Resort is a world-class golf, tennis & boating resort on Lake Lure. It features (2) 18-hole golf courses, tennis courts, (3) private pools (3), private beach, a marina with private boat docks, a wellness center (beauty and massage salons, video nook and computer stations, sauna, pool, exercise room & optional classes, and three restaurants. The Lakeside restaurant in the Rumbling Bald resort has just been renovated with a three-star chef with excellent reviews.

Rumbling Bald is the nicest resort community in the Appalachian foothills. It is built on one of the most scenic parts of Lake Lure, and includes 3 smaller "feeder" lakes within the property. There are two mountain golf courses, three restaurants, three pools, beach, marina, walking paths, and beautiful mountain scenery everywhere you look.

First, the photos don't due this cabin justice. No fault of the photographer. I tried to take some shots, but it is difficult to capture the beauty of this cabin. Before arriving, we looked at this cabin on multiple websites and viewed multiple photos. Only when we pulled up to the cabin did we realize how beautiful it actually is. My wife and I spent a week here with our twin six-year-olds and loved every minute of it. While we were a short drive to the amenities of Rumbling Bald Resort and Lake Lure, we had our own semi-private lake behind the cabin. It's a small lake shared by a handful of houses, but it felt like our own private lake since we rarely saw our neighbors. The deck is great and the fireplace a hit especially on smores night. This cabin is perfect for the small family or two couples.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

The elegant chalet is indeed elegant!! From the beautiful artwork, furnishings, and accessories, this chalet has it all!! We so enjoyed the big outdoor fireplace every evening and lighted candles you provided all through out the house. Special touches were greatly appreciated from coffee, firewood, and the management company was fantastic! They were thoughtful, informative, and friendly!! The beds were extremely comfortable and the porch outside was wonderful for our morning coffee. Very close to Lake Lure. It was a great jumping off point for excursions into Asheville, Brevard and the surrounding mountains and of course Lake Lure. We hope to return soon to your beautiful home. Thank you again for a great weekend!!!
