Lakewood Chalet is an elegant and spacious log home located on Shumont Lake, a private extension of Lake Lure in the beautiful Rumblingbald Mountain Resort, inside the Fairfield Mountains of Lake Lure, North Carolina. Lake Lure is a resort destination about 45 minutes east of Asheville. Nearby are the towns of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock.
Lakewood Chalet resides in the private community of Shumont Estates surrounding its own private lake. The home sits among tall, mature trees on a large, nicely landscaped lot directly on the lake. A spacious driveway accommodates four plus cars.
The main floor features a 'great room' with fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows offering an unobstructed view of the trees and the lake. A stone fireplace dominates the room, fitted with realistic gas logs and operated by remote control. There's plenty of comfortable furniture, a nice big TV, DVD and VHS, and DirecTV service for plenty of entertainment. Lighting is by scores of candles, cozy lamps, and adjustable downlights. Every room is professionally deoorated and has its own ceiling fan.
The large, fully screened rear porches (one on each floor!) look out over the lovely landscaped rear yard, the outdoor deck, and the quiet lake beyond. Vacant lots on both sides assure quiet and privacy. A lighted stone pathway leads down to the lake and your own private dock. Swim or sail, or just enjoy the sun. Behind the Chalet is a beautiful shaded deck with comfortable outdoor furniture, torch lights, another gas grill, and a huge outdoors free-standing wood-burning fireplace stocked with firewood. Enjoy the sunset away from the evening chill while warming to a bonfire on your private outdoor patio.
The RumblingBald Mountains Resort is a world-class golf, tennis & boating resort on Lake Lure. It features (2) 18-hole golf courses, tennis courts, private pool, private beach, private boat docks, a fitness center, and three restaurants. The Lakeside restaurant, a mile away on Lake Lure, has just hired a three-star chef and it's earning rave reviews.

Dave and Pat Pearson are from Washington, DC and work for the US Government in foreign assistance activities. They live and travel abroad most of the time, especially in Asia and Africa. They love Lake Lure and hope to retire to the Lakewood Chalet in a few years.
