Good location for a family holiday. Had been in the car all day so it was nice to get out a walk to several good places around the area. The rooms are spacious and the best thing is Burch St. Casitas is not noisy at all. Would stay here again on a holiday/business trip to the CA area in future.Did you find this review helpful? The Burch St. Casitas is by far the nicest, most elegant and comfortable place in New Mexico to stay in. Just put it this way, after two nights of sleeping on their beds, we left and went immediately to a high end furniture dealer, and bought the closest mattress to the ones at the Burch St. Casitas we could find! Spent 5K on it! :) Excellent place for a romantic getaway, honeymoon, family outing, etc.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Close to the historic downtown(a short walk). The casitas are well furnished and cozy with radiant heat floors(ideal in winter) and a beautiful fireplace. We were extremely happy with the accomodations. The owners are knowledgable and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit to Taos and a big part of that is due to Jim and Nancy and the wonderful accomodations. We will definitely stay here again and we will recommend to our friends and family.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This is our 2nd visit to the Birch Street Casitas. We relaxed, explored, dined out, shopped! Home away from home with all the comforts of home. So much to do...just not enough time. Each visit gets a little longer. Next year we will plan for 2 weeks stay! Jim and Nancy are gracious hosts with exquisite style and taste. The Casitas are clean, comfortable, spacious, yet cozy. The walk to town is lovely. Just minutes to town and so much to do. Can't wait to go back! Thanks for sharing your hide away with us. We stayed at Burch Street Casitas for 2 nights. The owners gave us good directions to the place when we made the reservation, it was easy for us to find. There was ample parking off street for our use. The casita is open concept, with a living room area, a nice kitchen area, and a bedroom area. There is a nice sized bathroom adjoining the bedroom and an outside patio with seating for 4 as well. The kitchen is well stocked, we had everything we needed. There is a lovely fireplace, but no firewood yet. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was very very clean and well maintained. Plenty of towels, pillows, and a nice quilt we used while we were watching t.v. at night. There are also lots of books to read which we appreciated. This really is a great lovely place to stay. We highly recommend it!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Jack for your kind words and your business. Nancy and I are glad you were happy staying with us! Jim

I am so happy we discovered Burch Street Casitas! It was the perfect spot to be for our daughters wedding 'week'. We couldnt have been happier with the Casita. Having our own kitchen, patio, perfect location. Spotlessly clean, All the kitchen 'perks', The owners, Jim and Nancy, have the intuitiveness to be there when and if you need them, but to give you the feeling that you are the 'owner' of your own space. I would highly recommend this property. I felt as comfortable as I am at my own home. Nice feeling.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Deborah, For your business and friendship.Looking forward to seeing you again. Jim and Nancy

Upon arrival we were very pleased with what these little casitas had to offer. A kitchen, nice bed, privacy, and basically all the things you would need. It was so cozy and so close to downtown. We walked several nights to dinner. The price was so amazing too. The hosts Nancy and Jim were so sweet and were really accomondating to our needs. We would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone visiting Taos.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Great place to be with family and relaxation. The pictures describe it all with the comfort of home. The casitas were very clean and maintained. The owners was helpful with answering questions with where to go and this would be my first recommendation to a friend or relative. Walking around the plaza and shopping or window shopping is a great time and if you love coffee elevation coffee or world cup is great!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I think we stumbled into a little bit of heaven when we came upon Burch Street Casitas about 6 years ago. It has everything we could ever want in a place to stay. Beautifully built and wonderfully equipped are these casitas. Our home away from home. we have stayed probably about 20 times now in the past 6 years. It is better every time. Comfortable king beds, all the amenities of a fully furnished apartment with washer and dryer and cooking utensils. we save a ton of money by staying here because we can cook most of our meals with produce from the Farmer's Mkt in the summer which means we only eat out once a day. You can walk downtown in just 5 minutes, but when you are in your casita is is so private and quiet. The hosts Jim and Nancy are the best. Free wifi is a plus and in the winter, the fireplace is divine. We love this place every season of the year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I've stayed with Jim and Nancy so many times that Burch St Casitas is my home away from home. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in Taos. My big concern is that word will get out and I'll have too much competition for my casita. It is the perfect spot if you like a modern immaculate property that is quiet and only a two-block walk to museums, restaurants, galleries and the Plaza. Staying at Burch St I feel that I am part of the community living on the most beautiful street in Taos, especially in the fall with the golden canopy that shimmers in the sunlight. Jim and Nancy are the perfect hosts, always there to help no matter the question, but never intrusive. I always look forward to my next visit at Burch St because I know it will provide the perfect getaway for whatever I need at the time.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Jim & Nancy have a great property and location. A nice walk to the plaza and easy access to the highways. It is very private and a great place to relax. Strolling on the plaza with a cup of coffee or grabbing a bite to eat at one of the great restaurants is a great way to spend a fall afternoon. The Fall foliage in and around Taos was beautiful this year. Jim and Nancy were helpful with suggestions for sight seeing or if you needed additional supplies. We recommend having dinner at the Anaconda Bar at The El Monte for a great meal and excellent service. Jim let us make our reservations for our next trip in June and are looking forward to another great time. Even if you only have time for a short visit, I would make this the place to stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When we discovered Burch Street Casitas several years ago, we had no idea what was in store for us. We found it had everything we wanted, i.e. wireless internet, washer/dryer, fully equipped kitchen, a big, comfy bed, lots of windows to let in the sunshine during the day, and the cool mountain air while sleeping. There is the convenience of being able to walk to the Plaza, and the availability of our wonderful hosts and friends, Jim and Nancy who are are so accommodating for your needs, suggestions for things to see, or directions how to get there. The best part is the privacy and serenity. You check in and you can shut out the world in your cozy little spot. It's sunny and it's clean, comfortable, quiet and it makes us happy to be there, and feels just like home. It is a convenient spot to stay if you want to take day trips to Red River, Angel Fire, Cimarron, Santa Fe, or drive the Turquoise Trail down to Chimayo. There are many art galleries and lots of shops, including the John Dunn shops. There are a wealth of things to do around the area with much history to explore. New Mexico has 14 Indian Pueblos which are extremely interesting, and some can be visited. We have done a river raft trip on the Rio Grande which was awesome. Nancy and Jim have many brochures, magazine and other information waiting for you in your room. We have never been disappointed in our stay at Burch Street Casitas, and always look forward to going back again to our little piece of Heaven.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have stayed in hotels all over the world, and after staying a week at Burch Street Casitas in Taos, New Mexico, we can say this will forever be one of our favorites. The owners made us more than comfortable, and our casita had everything we needed to feel like we were in someone's home. We had a kitchen and a fireplace and all the things a great hotel would have and more. The whole area is so green and lush with majestic old cottonwood trees and fresh grass, and the blue skies echo the sweetest songbirds you'll ever hear. The casitas are tucked in well off the road making it a very private lodging you can't get at a hotel. And everything we wanted to see in Taos was just a short, very pleasant 5 to 10 minute walk. We recommend this as a destination rather than a hotel. They made our time in Taos so pleasant we told them we would definitely stay there again next time we are in Taos.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you very much for your business and are glad you were so happy here! Jim

I found this place by searching for Casitas in Taos - i didn't expect to get a direct hit, but my wish was granted. Even better, I got an immediate reply to my query to the owner, Jim, which surprised the heck out of me, as I was writing at midnight west coast time, and it's an hour later in Taos (mountain time). We had a great e-chat, realized we had connected with kindred spirits, and we couldn't have been happier with the entire experience. Everything about this place is as advertised. It's functional, fastidiously clean and absolutely comfortable in every way. From the charming decor to the wish-we-had-it-at-home radiant heat (yes!!), to the plush towels and great shower, we loved the place. There are adorable fireplaces in each room as well, and we took full advantage of the very well-equipped kitchen - and learned that things cook a little differently at high altitude! The coffee tastes even better, btw... And we loved the experience of being so close to town, a walk which grants you fabulous views and a total sense of the rustic frontier this place still is at the outskirts of town. The owners are generous, kind and wonderfully friendly hosts. They even invited us for Christmas Eve dinner with all their friends: Jim is a professional chef, and prepared a feast to remember. We will never forget feasting on spicy posole and roasted game as the snow fell from a sky that seemed close enough to touch with our tongues, as we let the snowflakes melt in our mouths. Enjoy wine tasting at La Chiripada in the Plaza - a unique taste of the Embudo Valley of New Mexico- and don't miss the fantastic collection of Painted Ponies on display at the Mercantile there. A pilgrimage to the pueblo is a must, and if you can join in the procession on Christmas Eve, you will have experienced something to remember - and savor - for a lifetime. Just don't bring a camera or cell phone, or they will be confiscated. The mind is the best camera of all. And this place is one wonderful photographic memory.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

?The beautiful Burch Street Casitas, or little homes, are nestled under towering 200 year old Cottonwood trees on private property. The Casitas may be only four-years old but are loaded with Old World charm. They are light and airy with lots of windows to let in the New Mexico light and dramatic shadows. A separate door leads to aspacious-covered patio and the shady yard, perfect for morning coffee or settling in with a book. The hosts, Jim and Nancy, are former city folks and such a nice couple. Jim, a chef by trade, told us they designed the Casitas to be “What we like when we travel.” The Casitas are very comfortable - more like a little home. They are on a quiet residential street three easy blocks from town. Almost like being in the country - no traffic noise or lights at night. Clean, up to date, relaxed. Each has a fully-equipped kitchen, stacked washer/dryer, cable TV,and comfortable bed and bedding. The kitchen was perfect because we like fixing breakfast in rather than going out every morning. A couple of nights after long museum and gallery treks, weheated up our restaurant leftovers and kicked back to watch a movie. The good-looking rough hewn fence separating the Casitas from the owners’ property gave us complete privacy and seclusion. (If you need something, however, Jim or Nancy would be therein a minute.) Santa Fe is a scenic hour and a half away, so we took a couple of day trips. It was nice to get back to Taos after the tourist chaos that is Santa Fe. The Burch Street Casitas are on our permanent Must-Stay List.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 15/15
