Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
We have lived in Breckenridge since 1984 and have always felt it was home. We came for the skiing, spent a summer here and then never left. The skiing is incredible, but there is so much more to do - Breckenridge is a real community - not just a ski resort. We think visitors feel that too. Our family has had annual family reunions at the Bristlecone Lodge since we bought it in 1987. So when we rebuilt the new Bristlecone in 2009 we knew what amenities worked for large groups and families (we have 21 in our family) - lots of room to spread out, but also lots of room to be together, as well as easy access to ski area with plenty of ski and snow board storage for equipment, hats, gloves, wet boots, etc., lots of entertainment for big and little kids - pool table, movies and outdoor fire pit, hot tub and a large private yard for snow forts and snow man building and sturdy materials that can hold up to alot of use.

We moved to Breck in 1984. Our family purchased this property in 1987 and have rented the old "Bristlecone Lodge" since then. The rentals went so well that the house was getting that "used" feeling and was also a bit dated. So instead of remodeling, we tore it down (we recycled, saved or gave away almost all building materials, including all appliances, paneling, light fixtures, tiles and even the kitchen sink) and rebuilt the new Bristlecone Lodge (completed in 2009) specifically for short term vacation rentals - private suites and lots of room for large groups to get together, but also lots of room to be "alone".

Not only was the location perfect, the house was perfect! The house was just beautiful and accommodating in all ways with breathtaking mountain views!! The owner was wonderful and thought of everything! You can't get much better than to be close enough to walk to the slope AND just a short ride to the town’s market, restaurants and shops. It was so relaxing to be here...we got the total effect of the mountains here but were close to everything. Had a blast at this lodge, LOVED the fact that the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook with (they thought of everything), felt like home & the beds was sooo comfy. We were lucky enough to stay here this winter vacation for unbelievable skiing, and loved every minute of it! The home is nicely decorated and maintained, down to every detail! A fireplace in almost every room and pool table downstairs great for entertaining our group. This house has everything you need-even separate locker rooms for your ski gears with dryers/warmers! It is well appointed, and spacious enough to accommodate several families without feeling crowded. The living area was expansive with a beautiful fireplace has majestic mountain views. Hard to beat the decks at this house, which overlook the mountains, perfect for barbeques and soaking up the sun. The hot tub has its own deck and was perfect touch at the end of the day. We’ve stayed at numerous ski destinations, hotels, and VRBOs, and this is by far our favorite!! Thanks Carol, for letting us stay at your wonderful home!
