We found everything just as described in the listing plus extras like beach toys, beach towels, and chairs. The washer and dryer were important, allowing us to pack less. The rental process went smoothly and I would definately recommend the beach cottage to friends and family. We were actually discussing when we would come back and for how long while we were still there. We had 2 adults, a 4 yr old, and a dog in our party. Ocean beach had great waves for surfing and playing, and the dog beach was one of a kind and quite kid friendly. We were overwhelmed with how dog friendly the area is. We hardly needed a car because everything was so close. Be sure to make a stop at the Surf Rider Pizza Cafe (YUMMY). Newbreak coffee shop had an excellent Mexican Mocha, Daybreak cafe for breakfast, and Thai time for dinner. There were also music and arts festivals and an excellent farmer's market. We miss you beach cottage!

It was our dream to bring our two senior Labrador Retrievers to see the ocean for the first time. Staying at this property was perfect for us! As far as cleanliness and quiet goes, you cannot tell this is a dog friendly property. There is no smell of 'dog' in the cottage and no evidence anywhere, inside or out. The property is very clean and maintained very well and gives you the feeling of being right at home. Tobi and Andy were wonderful about answering all of my questions ahead of time and were only a call or email away while we stayed here. Our dogs are 80 pounds each and we felt this cottage was just the right size for us. Any more adults and we would have been cramped a bit. Be sure to plan on cooking at home during your stay because they've thought of everything. The house is well-stocked with modern appliances and cookware. Parking on-site is an added bonus and all the shops and redtaurants are very close by. Our dogs are 10 and 12 and walked everywhere daily, including Dog Beach. By the way, Dob Beach is a blast and has very clen water. We will most definitely be back!

The property was exactly as advertised: small, clean and comfortable, and very well-located in Ocean Beach. Lots of little touches, like plenty of clean towels (beach/bath), beach chairs and boogie boards for our use, helpful hints for restaurants and beach rentals, etc. The A/C units in both bedrooms worked great, and the beds were VERY comfortable. Perfect location to go back/forth from beach (1 1/2 blocks away), an easy 10 minute walk to dog beach, and 1-2 blocks from lots of restaurants, shops, grocery store, coffee, etc. Sleeping five with one bath was a bit tight, but the lovely front yard, picnic tables and gas grill added lots of extra space. Overall, fantastic stay, and we'd recommend Tobi and her properties to anyone. Will definitely come back!

We had a comfortable visit staying in the cottages. The beds were awesome! The only issue with sleeping was that Ocean Beach is under the flight path so the plane noise starts early and ends late but that would not keep us from staying here again. The cottage was well equipped and everything was in working order. The location is definitely worth a little noise! Well within walking distance to the center of town and the beach and dog beach as well. If we were to stay here again, we would pay the extra for the little lawn area to have somewhere nice to sit in the late evenings. The cottage was also very clean and tidy. Thanks!!

What a wonderful weekend getaway!! The cottage was spacious and in 3-minute walking distance to downtown OB as well as the beach; and overall, completely centrally located for those traveling with a car - major highways are within a 2-minute drive. We felt completely safe in the cottage and did not hear any noise from the street (neither traffic, neighbors, nor passers-by). The cottage is very well-kept and exceptionally clean (especially the kitchen and bathroom) YAY! The listing description and pictures were accurate and the owner was very kind and helpful! Tobi was quick to send information about the area as well as activities. I will definitely be referring this cottage to my friends and family. Thanks! Nadja, Steff, and Jan

We are a California family who appreciates old Califorina style at the beach. The bungalow brings back those times, warm sunny days, nightime beach fires, eating nachos and sleeping in a bungalow. We especially liked the fact that we parked the car and thats where it remained for our entire stay, all that was missing was listening to wolfman jack on the radio. Keep it going for those who like the life style. I will be back.

My family of five really enjoyed staying in one of the cottages during our first visit to Ocean Beach. They are so close to downtown and the beach, you can literally just park your car and spend your entire visit on foot. Thank you for a memorable experience!

We rented one of the front units with a yard and our friends rented the other front unit. It was the perfect way to stay. We never worried about bothering our neighbors because we were hanging out together. There is a picnic bench for each front unit that became our gathering spot and dining area. Our family of four: 2 adults/2 kids stayed very comfortably in the two bedroom cottage. My husband and I shared one room, 14 year old son stayed in other room, and 12 year old daughter slept on the futon. The bonus of staying here is everything that is provided. The kitchen is stocked with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, pots, pans, small appliances, and a washer/dryer. Beach towels, chairs, umbrella, propane BBQ, WiFi, TV, DVD player with DVDs, and very large rolling ice chest are some other of things that were provided. When you stay here you are merely a block and a half from the beach, no need to take the car and search for parking. (The on-site parking is great because the street parking fills up very quickly.) There is so much to do in Ocean Beach and the surrounding area that it would be hard to name them all. Newport Avenue has lots of shops, restaurants, and bars that kept us busy. If you like to people watch, this is a great place to stay. The one thing you should know is that the airport noise can get pretty loud but we were able to get used to it pretty quickly. Our kids love staying here which makes this a favorite vacation destination. We are looking forward to booking again next year.

DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY WAS RIGHT ON - HAVING A WASHER & DRYER WAS A BONUS. ACTUALLY CAME HOME WITH CLEAN CLOTHES. PLENTY OF TOWELS, & BEACH TOWELS, TOYS, CHAIRS, & UMBRELLA. LOADED UP THE COOLER ON WHEELS & A SHORT WALK TO THE BEACH & STAYED TILL DARK. CLOSE ENOUGH TO WALK HOME FOR A NAP OR MORE FOOD, ETC. KITCHEN WAS EXTREMELY WELL EQUIPED FOR A RENTAL. WE HAD A BLOW-UP MATTRESS & THAT WAS MORE COMFORTABLE THAN THE FUTON FOR THE KIDS TO SLEEP ON. WE WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS HOUSE TO FAMILY & FRIENDS. OWNER WAS VERY RESPONSIVE TO MY QUESTIONS & GOT BACK TO ME RIGHT AWAY. WENT TO THE ZOO,SEA WORLD & SAFARI PARK. VERY CLOSE DRIVE. 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS WERE SPECTACULAR.

Our family of 5 (two adults, two boys and a teenage girl) stayed in cottage 2012. The boys slept in the fold out futon in the living room, my daughter got the bedroom off the kitchen and we stayed in the other bedroom. In between the two bedrooms is a Jack & Jill bath with a tub/shower. We found the beds to be very comfortable. It was nice to find an air conditioning in each of the bedrooms. The weather at the beginning of July was still a little warm for us to be without air (being from AZ). The unit was cozy and we loved the fact that it seemed like a home-away-from-home. Tobi provided us with snacks and drinks upon arrival which was very nice. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals and it was nice to have a washer and drier in the unit. There were lounge chairs, a rolling ice chest, a beach umbrella and beach toys - all the things necessary for the beach (which was only a few blocks away). The location of the cottages was awesome! We were within walking distance of many shops, restaurants and bars. The Blue Parrot has yummy Mexican Food. The parking in the back is a little tight for large vehicles, but it was workable and nice to have a parking spot. Having one bathroom with 5 people was challenging so I suggest bringing extra mirrors or using your webcam as a mirror (like my daughter did). There were plenty of outlets available for all of our laptops, ipods, etc. We will definitely be back!!!!

This was a wonderful little cottage to stay at. We had 2 couples and a single and two kids were able to sleep very comfortable here. Great beds, great amenities, kitchen was fully stocked. The cottage was very close and within walking distance of grocery stores, great shops, restaurants, beach, pier. It was over all the best location for our family. Very kid friendly. Owners had beach toys already there for the kids to play with. We would stay here again anytime. You never know what you are going to get when you book online and we were all pleasantly surprised.

First, let me explain that this is our first experience staying in a home at a beach in California, and from what I can tell, the homes are all small, so while the size was a bit small for us (My husband and I, our 7 year old, and 7 month old) I think this is normal. The owners were great, we needed beach towels and couldn't find them in the house so Tobi brought them out right away and was ready to address any other issues we had. The place was very clean, it is close to a dog beach so I was a little worried about our 7 month old crawling around in a house that I'm sure had dogs in it at some point. But, it had hardwood floors and one area rug, so the dog hair was minimal. We stayed in one of the homes with a fenced front yard and it was great. Our 7 year old could play outside while the baby was sleeping, he found lots of snails which kept him entertained for quite a while! There were plenty of beach toys and we rented a pack and play, stroller, and high chair from a local company and Tobi coordinated with them to get the stuff in the house so it was ready when we arrived the first night (Which made the first night so much easier!). Cons: Since it's in Ocean beach, there's a lot of airplane noise, motorcycles, and cars driving by with loud music. However, it didn't bother us too much it was mostly noticeable during the day when we had the doors open. At night we had the window A/C units on so we didn't notice the outside noise. It was a little small, next time I’d like to try their bigger house with King size beds (it wasn’t available when we booked since we booked at the last minute) Pros: The washer & dryer were great, HE units that worked well. Fridge, stove/oven, toaster, were all great to have. You can tell the kitchen has been updated, it was very clean. The place in general was clean, close to the beach and many restaurants. My husband and son took surfing lessons and had a great time. One note to those who don't know this area, several places don't take credit cards, so be prepared to carry cash or get money out of ATMs (there were many ATMs but they charge a fee, so best to be prepared and save yourself a few bucks). My husband was working in San Diego so I can’t imagine having to find a parking spot in Ocean beach every time he came back, so the parking spot were great. Overall I would definitely recommend it, we had a great time!

To begin, I must say that the owners are some of the nicest people I have ever met!! They are both wonderful; helpful, kind, attentive (without being intrusive), just really good people!!!! As for the property, it is simply perfect!!! The cottage is cozy and comfortable. Everything you would need is provided including beach chairs and umbrella, cooking equiptment, even toys and chalk for the kids! Ocean Beach is a SHORT walk from the cottage which means you can go hang out at the beach, pop home for some lunch WITHOUT sand included, and go right back!! The washer and dryer are essential and provided!! This cottage is absolutely perfect for a family of four with the two COMFY queen beds (Did I mention that they are COMFY?). We had other family stay with us as well during our stay. They slept on the pull-out futon which, they said, wasn't bad. Parking anywhere at the beach is a nightmare! Thank Goodness, everything is in walking distance from the cottage so no need to move your car from the parking space provided with the cottage!! Within 1-4 blocks of the front door is, of course, the beach, but also there is the Appletree grocery store, Newport Ave (the OB strip) which house the famers market, three coffee shops, great pizza, Hodad's, excellent BBQ, a quaint Italian restraunt, and Wings (the best place to pick up cheap souveniers!!) I would highly recommend staying at one of the properties owned by Andy and Tobi!

Wonderful vacation rental. Only a block or two from the beach and the great restaurants and bars in Ocean Beach! The property was clean, allows dogs, has a big TV with cable, wireless, full kitchen and even a washer and dryer. Small if you have never lived at the beach before, but we lived in OB for years and all the places there are small. Certainly beats a hotel room! The owners were great. I highly recommend this rental.

This was truly a great blessing for our San Diego getaway. The owners are wonderful and they didn't leave anything left unchecked on our wishlist. From the wonderful linens and toiletries to the snacks and beverages to say Welcome. We are going to come back every year to these cottagese and next year we are going to rent all of them for a family reunion. It is wonderful as everyone can come together and bbq and then have there own place to relax and unwind. I highly recommend it. There is also a park at the end of the street on the beach with picnic tables and firepits on the beach for a campfire. You can walk to everything in the area. If you decide to rent it, you won't be sorry. Jennifer

We had a great stay in this little cottage! Everything was spotless and the kitchen was extremely well-stocked. The beds were comfortable, and had tons of pillows. Tobi provided extra beach towels for us and responded promptly to our one need during our week there. We definitely made good use of the washer and dryer. We didn't have small children, but there were lots of beach toys provided and we appreciated the beach chairs and cooler on wheels! Our group included my husband, me, and 4 children in their early 20's. It was a bit tight for that many grown people in the living room - although we did discover camping-type chairs under the bed on our last day. Both bedrooms had full length mirrors with plenty of outlets, so the one bathroom wasn't really a problem, even with 3 women getting ready for a wedding at once! One block to the beach, one block to the pizza place (very good), two blocks to the grocery store, Starbucks, and tons of bars and restaurants. The taco shop 2 doors down from Gallagher's was amazing - at least one person from our group ate their every day! We also had a very good breakfast at Shades. We'll be back!

Our family of 4 had a fantastic stay at this cottage in Ocean Beach! The location was great! The beach, tide pools, and the pier were so close and a hit with the entire family. It was also a close drive to so many of the places we visited during our vacation. The beach toys, chairs, and umbrella were so nice to have during our daily visits to the beach. The snacks and drinks that were left for us were a special treat! A parking space at the beach and the washer and dryer were wonderful to have. The beds were very comfortable as well! We also found the owners to be quite helpful.

We are a family of six, with two yorkies. This place was perfect for us. The location was fantastic, it was really close to dog beach and also really close to all the restaurants. We didn't need to drive anywhere except Legoland. My teenagers could walk to the beach anytime, and we sat on the front lawn with our baby and two dogs--I definitely recommend you get the front unit, it is worth the additional cost for the kids and dogs to play. The owners were a very nice family too. We will be back next year, thank you!!

If you are not familiar with the setup of Ocean Beach, generally speaking the closer you get to the beach the smaller the houses and lots. I mention that because while these units feel tiny, it's appears to be that way for most of the places in that area. Our unit was pretty nice, but considering these places are maybe 600 s.f. (that's an estimate as I didn't actually measure it I stepped off approx. 20 ft across the front and 30 ft along the side), there just isn't much room. There were 5 of us and I feel it was too small, but I would also say that it could work depending on what 5 people. Me (38) and my wife (30) had one room, Our daughters (11) and (2) shared a bed in the other room, and my Father (62) slept on the futon. Everyone slept comfortably but the drawback to the setup is that the only way into the bathroom is through one of the bedrooms, which is challenging at night. It is perfect for 4 people where 2 people sleep in each bed. The unit was clean and had a great selection of movies and the kitchen was stocked quite well with pots, pans, silverware, etc. It was particularly nice to have a front unit so our girls had a small fenced in area to play. We really enjoyed having breakfast on the picnic table in the mornings. The corner is pretty busy with cars and foot traffic because it is so close to Newport Av AND the beach, but if close to the action is what you want then this is the place. There was also quite a bit of airplane noise, but I think that's a lot of Ocean Beach not just these units. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much but we will probably spend a bit more for a bigger place next time.
Owner response:Steve and Erin, Thank you for your review. Don't forget to check out our luxury beach home (vrbo listing #101013), which is a bit more expensive, but twice the size and has two bathrooms!

Everything was great, the place was perfect, everyone was extremely nice and you couldn't ask for better weather. We came back to 95 degrees and humid. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place close to the beach because the location was perfect. This cottage is the perfect size for four people. The landlord is excellent and was very accommodating. It's a bit smaller than it looks in the photography, but the location is ideal. Quick walk to the people beach and about a 10 minute or so stroll to dog beach. It was great to be able to bring the dogs on vacation with us. Parking was a huge plus, especially on the weekends. We enjoyed the yard out front as we rented a cottage with the yard. Perfect for the dogs to run around and sit out and people watch. It can be a little noisy with the airplanes above, but still a great find.

A lot of good things about this rental: 1) Good location. Close to everything. 2) Comfortable bedding. Both my kids and I slept like a baby. Bedding have good quality. I looked at the brand of the pillow. If I am not wrong, it is a brand Costco carries. I am a super Costco fan, everything there are proven good quality. 3) Owner is very detail-oriented. She printed out a map showing restaurants and grocery stores nearby. We tried one of the restaurants she recommended. It tent out very nice. Another little detail is she put kids DVD in the rental. My boys love watching "three little piggy". They always watched modern cartoons, never watched this classic one. It was fun. 4) Good Parking. 5) Fully equipped kitchen. On the last night before leaving, we had quite some leftover from the previous couple of days’ dinner. (I always order more food than what we can consume). The family decided to finish them instead of wasting all the foods and spend another $100 eating outside. The kitchen has everything what we need even beer! Overall the experience with this rental is excellent.

This Beach home worked perfect for our trip. We loved the location. Very easy to get to and it was great to have our own parking space. We loved the fact that it was a short walk to the beach and to the shops and restaurants at Ocean Beach (just a couple of blocks for each!) It is less than 10 min. drive to Point Loma, the San Diego Airport, Oldtown, shopping etc. This home was way better than an hotel. With 2 bedrooms + futon in living room, we had plenty of room. It was nice to have a full kitchen, washer, dryer. Beach chairs, cooler, & beach towels were helpful for day trips. The DVD selections and the Big screen TV were a nice way to end the day! The owner went out of her way to help when we had questions or needed anything. We would definitely recommend this property and these owners.

We recently stayed at this wonderful cottage near the ocean and couldn't have been happier. Everything was walking distance... the beach, stores and tons of restaurants! Also, the place had everything we could ever need. Be sure to check in the closets because there were a ton of things to make your vacation complete. My particular likes were the beach chairs and frisbee's. Also, the full kitchen, washer/dryer, tv, dvd player, movies and things to read made me feel like I had all the comforts or home... not that we stayed in much. We will definitely be back.

Our family loved it. We have four small children ages 1, 2 1/2, 4, and 7. We were close to all the child-friendly restaurant, close to the beach, close to the pier and tidepools, it worked out great! We hardly had to drive at all, which is great because stuffing a family of 6 into a rental car is tough!

Your wonderful "Beach House" was great. It was close to the beach, restaurants, Starbucks, etc. We couldn't have asked for a better location. Plus, for anyone considering their stay here, do it. It is literally a 5-15 minute drive to anything: Sea World, Belmont Park, Balboa Park, the Zoo, downtown, etc. The house was wonderful and had all the amenities one needs to have an enjoyable stay. The beds were wonderful and neighborhood was quiet. We have 2 young sons and our dog and it was a lot of room for all of us. The dog beach is a short walk and our dog Maya and the boys had a blast there. The beach is 2 blocks away and wonderful. We will definitely stay here again!

The cottage on Saratoga Ave was everything we expected and much more. It's less than five minutes walk to the beach and to restaurants, grocery, and shopping. The two bedrooms were very comfortably appointed with Queen beds and the kitchen was stocked with many small items that came in very useful. Thank you!

We loved it!! There were six of us in our party and the owners were thoughtful enough to bring us extra beach chairs, towels, and even snacks so we had enough for all six!

This was a great little cottage very close to the beach and with all the amenities we needed. No real complaints and we would definately stay here again. The owners were very nice and even left little snackies to welcome us!

My wife and I brought our 2 year old, our 5 year old, and our golden retriever to stay in this beach cottage and we all loved it. It was clean (my wife is a clean freak and she approved of the place), the beds were really comfortable, and it is close to everything. The owners left us some snacks and drinks upon our arrival, which was great after an 8 hour drive from AZ. We will be back!

We had a lovely stay in the little yellow cottage by the beach at the end of July. The beds were very comfortable, but the best thing was being just a block from the beach and so close to Sea World. We had a great time. Thank you!

My family was able to make reservations at the last minute and stay in Ocean Beach for a few days at this little Cottage. We were able to take our dogs and it was so comfortable and charming. I hope that we will be able to stay there again in the future. All appliances were brand new, very cute and comfortable. Conveniently close to town for food and shopping, and to the beach. All amenities were greatly appreciated; beach chairs, washer/dryer, fan, window units in bedrooms, large t.v. etc.

We were pleasantly surprised! The price is reasonable, which led us to be skeptical. We arrived and the place was hot as the a/c hadn't been turned on yet and it was late in the afternoon. We turned the a/c on and went to dinner, by the time we got back it was cool. It was our first trip to San Diego and we were not accustomed to the weather there. In San Diego you get at least 2 completely different types of weather: coastal and inland. Inland is hot in July, 20 degrees hotter then coastal weather. This place was loacated in the coolest neighborhood around, Ocean Beach, which is of course in the coastal weather. The weather is amazing, we were there a week and never any rain, always sunny and high of 78 or 77 everyday with a nice cool breeze. Perfect for swiming, golf, etc. The cottage itself was small, but it had everything advertised plus many extra that provided a very nice touch! It had two legitimate bedrooms and two queen beds that were VERY comfortable. There was some sort of pillowtop mattress on there, it was nice! Even the pull out futon in living room which we utilized as a bed as well was way beyond your typical uncomfortable futon. It was actually a extra long bed when it was converted and it had an extra section that could be attached to be a perma footrest when set in a sitting position: VERY nice! They even put out snacks in a basket on the table in living room, and some drinks in the refrigerator. There were plastic plates, bowls, cups, silverware, dishes, beach toys, beach towels, regular towels, etc, a lot of unexpected extras! There is of course a very nice full kitches, and to top it off a high end washer dryer set on top of each other. We will prolly be coming back bnext year, this place was PERFECT.

We came down with our 6-week old baby to have some alone time and bonding time and it was wonderful! The owners were very attentive to our new-baby needs and the place was very cozy and clean. Thanks for all the "freebie" snacks and drinks, it was very refreshing to have when we got there after our 3 hour drive with the baby. We will be back next year for our daughter's 1-year birthday!

Great place; we were lucky to have good neighbors; bring your bikes, everything is very close. It is small but well layed out. My only 'complaint' is the beds were too soft - everything else was perfect!!

The cottage was perfect. Exactly as we pictured it to be . Only a couple of suggestions would be to have a few more kid friendly cups, we only found glass or coffee mugs which are not the best for a 3 and 4 yr old, and maybe mention about the dogs if they are still there . We got a bit nervous about that with two small children. Tobi was awesome and answered any questions we had , her husband even came over our frist night to help get the internet working on my computer ... thanks for that you guys are awesome. We are already looking into our trip for next year at the same place .
Owner response:Thank you for your feedback! We now have kid-friendly plastic cups in addition to the glasses and coffee mugs!
