Villa Zandoli and Ti Zan (Cottage).
The name "Zandoli" means "lizard" in the local French based creole spoken by the bi-lingual islanders on the beautiful island of St Lucia. This exotic house with its sensuous type of easy luxury and separate cottage - Ti Zan - set on an acre of hillside two minutes walk from the beach, combines the best of Caribbean architecture with a hint of the East, to create a villa of exceptional tropical flair, character and ambiance. With its typical West Indian woodwork, hand made Demerra and louvered windows, vaulted Indonesian style wooden shingled roofs, organic mix of natural stone, marble, wood and glass, burnt orange exterior, outdoor showers, stone and boulder enclosed pool set in lush gardens, and beautiful art collection, this stylish home provides a great location for an exceptional Caribbean villa experience.
The main house is designed around three pavilions on different levels, linked by enclosed bridges framing dramatic views. The handsome solidly built handmade wooden door introduces a hint of "old Spain" into the decor, incorporating massive handmade iron hindges and a pedestrian "window" with views into the main pavilion. The doorway opens into a 700 square foot, marble tiled sitting and dining area, capturing breathtaking panoramas of the Caribbean Sea and Pigeon Island - a historic National Park, home to the famous Jazz Festival held every May. This main room opens directly onto spacious decks overlooking the ocean, furnished with locally made cane-covered dining and rocking chairs, and a 10 foot long table - perfect for dining, listening to the surf, enjoying spectacular sunsets, or simply absorbing the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
The living room furniture is a blend of rustic Mexican and Balinese teak, mahogany and other hardwood pieces, complimented by an antique wooden Indian table fashioned from the sides of a horse drawn carriage. Modern lighting provided by scones, hand made terra cotta fixtures, chandeliers with an eastern flair and specialty drop lights over the dining table, provide soft lighting to this romantic room. The entire room is tiled in 18 by 18 inch italian marble tiles, each with its own tapestry of colour, set off with hand cut marble inlays, giving the entire room an elegant, yet relaxed feel.
A modern kitchen with rustic ambiance is fully equipped with all appliances. It opens directly onto the main deck - a favorite spot for eating meals and enjoying the ever changing seascape. Lightly stained cupboards lie both above and below tumbled marble covered countertops.
The second and third pavilions, flanking the main pavilion on either side, accommodate two equally appointed spacious Master Bedroom suites with unique, king-size four poster Balinese bamboo beds, and large, specialty stone titled bath areas with outdoor showers featuring 12 inch wide "rainheads", as well as bath tubs. Natural vines and ferns are introduced into the bathrooms which are titled in tumbled marble, slate and local stone for a real organic feel. Closets are lightly stained to compliment the tones of the stone and woodwork of each bathroom.
The third bedroom, the "garden suite" located at garden level, is an oasis of tranquility and peaceful relaxation; it is furnished with a queen-size bed with oriental bed-head, unique Mexican and Balinese furnishings and bathroom en-suite. The fourth bedroom is also downstairs. Each bedroom opens onto stunning views, and is appointed with ceiling fans and private patio leading directly to the pool and tropical gardens.
A large sunny room capturing spectacular views with TV (cable) and overstuffed Indonesian bamboo sofas is located at garden level in the main pavilion. This room opens onto a rustic stone-tiled pool patio featuring a wet bar and swimming pool surrounded by a sun deck framed by large boulders, vibrant tropical gardens and dramatic ocean vistas - a wonderful place - as one guest put it: "to sip Francesca's (the housekeeper) wonderful rum punch, and watch the spectacular sunset"! It is also a great spot for a barbeque, and a swim under the stars. The full moon is a time of special magic.
Ti Zan (Little Lizard)
Ti Zan, the separate guest cottage on the property is a perfect hideaway for two. Perched on the hillside above the main house, the views from Ti Zan are even more dramatic. The large covered veranda with its rocking chairs and cane chairs around a round wooden table, is a perfect spot for any meal, or any time. The deck opens onto a spacious open plan studio with queen-size bed, TV with cable, and kitchen tiled in earth toned tumbled marble. The floor to ceiling wooden louvers and large doors are designed to ensure that the drama of the view is fully captured within the cottage at all times. The shower area is unique. Tiled with local river and imported stone, the area is suspended outdoors with large traditional wooden windows flung wide open to embrace the view. The cottage may be booked with the main house, or separately.
Both Zandoli and Ti Zan were designed with a blend of modern and traditional architectural detailing of their roofs, eaves and windows to capture the most of the prevailing Trade Winds to ensure tropical, yet cool comfort, year round. Unique pieces of art featuring the work of Caribbean as well as artistes from Africa, China and the Middle East grace the rooms of the villa.
The beauty of Zandoli and its surroundings has provided the backdrop for weddings and honeymoons of several happy couples from Europe, the USA and Canada. A garden path, a favourite of all guests, winds through the bottom gardens and through a gate, to the beach and Pigeon Island, a great place for hiking, running, walking and exploring the history of the region.
Zandoli has been featured by Elegant Resorts (Europe), by the TV show Better Homes and Gardens (USA), by Island Life TV series, and many International Luxury villa Operators.

Len…. I hope this e mail finds you well. I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you for allowing the party to have the pleasure of staying at Zandoli. We had a wonderful time and could not have asked for a more relaxing setting. Agnes was very helpful in providing insight to the local attractions as well as was very accommodating during our stay. Just one example of her kindness was that I had asked her about “bread fruit” and how it was prepared and eaten. The next time we saw her she had a bag of local fruits and vegetables (including - bread fruit) which she prepped and packaged for us to cook at our leisure. Virginia, whom we rented an SUV from, was also very accommodating and provided excellent customer care throughout the stay. Virginia coordinated the pickup and return drop off to the airport which was a nice touch. The driver Kerwin was a great guy offering local guide services to and from the airport. He and Virginia also provided there numbers in the event we had any questions and or needed assistance. The overall experience was amazing and Zandoli is a beautiful and tranquil property. You’ll be happy to know that upon our return home that we immediately began recruiting family members to join my wife and I for a week at Zandoli next January. If convenient……. May I ask for the availability for next January………. :o)

Good day Len After experiencing two weeks at your lovely villa Zandoli, it will difficult to get back into the swing of things again. But do it we will, so that we can save up for the next adventure to St Lucia!!! You have a lovely place there, well appointed, laid out and so warm and inviting, a true Caribbean experience. There will be favorable reports going out onto on-line travel sites from us, you can be sure of that. Again, we had a most wonderful time. The main goal of this vacation was to decompress from our hecktic lives and unwind. I am pleased to say that we achieved that.

Greetings Dr. Len, Zandoli… a place of luxury with the comforts of home and a slice of paradise. What an amazing experience I had at Zandoli for my 38th birthday celebration. Although the details of my trip were many and the number of guests arriving on different days was complicated, I truly appreciated your patience and ability to adhere to all my requests from grocery shopping, to arranging pick-up services to arranging for a caterer for my special birthday dinner. Euphoric is the only way to describe my stay; breathtaking views, melodic sounds of the ocean and pure tranquility was my daily experience and it was wonderful. Although there are many highlights of my 11 day stay, the most memorable are the days spent with Agnes receiving her impeccable service. She addressed my every need and went beyond the call of duty on several occasions. I truly felt welcomed and well cared for. Agnes prepared delicious meals and share all her insights about the wonderful Island of St. Lucia. Thank you for arranging for the car service for the multiple pick-up and drop off dates. Our driver Peter was truly amazing and assured that we were well taken care of at all times. Upon arrival he stated that he was just a phone call away and he truly meant it. I can’t wait to return, thank for a little slice of paradise. Again, thank you T

As the villa Owner, I decided to start the New Year by uploading a number of wonderdful comments from some of our past guests regarding their stay at our villa, Zandoli. These had been sent by our guests to our HomeAway Listing, and today I copied them from that site and uploaded them to our VRBO site. I thought I would take just a moment to add my own comments: the first is that since 2 months ago, the 4 minute drive to the Villa from the main road has been Much Improved, thanks to a road crew who came in with heavy equippment graded and leveled it, and put in drainage. We ended the Year on such a high note! The second is that mosquitoes, unfortunately are sporadically part of life in the tropics, and are more of a nuisance in the rainy season. All of our bedrooms are screened, as are our baths, and every bedroom has a mosquito net. We do recommend that guests to all of our islands travel with repellant. I must say however, that the worse mosquitoes and largest (!) I have ever encountered, were in Moscow, one summer a few years ago. My sense is that they are more than just a tropical nuisance. What is clear from our reviews however, is that despite this, our guests had a great time. I am so grateful to all of our guests who have taken the time to write these notes! Seasons Greetings and all the best for a safe and healthy 2011!! Len.

The most beautiful villa I have EVER Seen! Rating: 5 out of 5 Michael Criddle MD Review Submitted October 4, 2010 Date of Stay June 2004 I stayed here for my honeymoon in 2004. We booked online, not sure of exactly what we were getting. The drive up to villa is bumpy but once you get up there the views are amazing and the villa itself was absolutely gorgeous. The housekeeper prepares wonderful meals, the decor is beautiful, the location is prime. There were only two of us, so we used only a portion of the house, but the master bedroom had a wonderful king sized bed and it's own bathroom with an indoor/outdoor rain shower. The other master bedroom boasts the same amenities. The pool was crystal clear and looked out over the cliff which looked right onto the bay. There is a landscaper who keeps the grounds beautifully maintained - flowering trees and plants galore. There is plenty to do around the area - we went horseback riding, jetskiing, browsed the local market, dined out, got couples massages. I just can't say enough about this Villa. Perfect for a honeymoon, couples retreat, or even a family vacation. Only minor cons: Mosquitoes can be quite bad, road to villa is windy and bumpy. Perfectly Fabulous Rating: 5 out of 5 Mrs. Norville Bronx, NY Review Submitted December 13, 2010 Date of Stay December 2010 My girlfriends and I stayed here for a birthday celebration. It was wonderful. We did not want to leave. Mrs. Agnes, Housekeeper is a gem. Peter, our driver was excellent and a great tour guide. The catered food was delicious (owner recommended). We felt like royality. The views are spectacular, pool is warm and clean, each bedroom is lovely, and kitchen was great. Ethenet cord allows for internet access. Make sure you bring mosquitos repellent - they are disrespectful, European plug convertors, wash clothes, and great sun block. The owner has done a great job! It was my santuary Rating: 4 out of 5 Tameeka Norville Brooklyn Review Submitted December 14, 2010 Date of Stay December 2010 Zandoli was everything and more. The photoswhich were sent to me was right on point. Zandoli was my four days santuary, I felt at peace because it was so tranquil, the ocean so beautiful and the mountains so amazing. I stayed in one of the Master bedroom's with the inside/outside shower which I just loved. I would recommend Zandoli to anyone that would like to retreat to nature and clear there mine; I also would recommend Zandoli to honeymooners. The property was well maintained and clean. The housekeeper was very professional and pleasant, very helpful with information regarding St. Lucia island and its history. There is only two complains that I have the drive from the airport to Zandoli was two hours long, but once I arrived at Zandoli the ride was well worth the two hours and the mosquiteso will eat you up if you do not have on any repellant, they bite you less if you do have repellant. I would love to return. I felt like I was on top of the world. I loved my stay at Zandoli. Glenda Recommended for: ELDERLY , ADVENTURE , GIRLFRIENDS , NOCAR , TOURISTS , FAMILIES_TEENS , ROMANTIC

We returned to Zandoli for our 5 year anniversary..we had spent our honeymoon there five years ago. Now 2 children later, we could not wait to find that special spot to run away, just the two of us, for the romance which has eluded us for some time..what a magical, peaceful spot. Thank you Zandoli for providing us with a little corner of paradise once more. The gardens were now much more mature, but the views as breathtaking as we remembered. We will come again for our 10th!!
