This was our second visit to Eagle Island. It was different this time as instead of the children and grandchild, we only took our dog. She loved the island as much as we do. An Eagle Island vacation is about rest and relaxation. A great place to have quiet times to read and walk in the beautiful natural environment and to eat. We feel it is similar to a cruise in how much you relax and how much you eat, the exception being you do your own cooking. With Andy's grocery delivery service, it is not difficult to have plenty to eat. By all means ask him to get you fresh shrimp. Shrimp and grits or low country boil go great with the overall feel of the island, although steaks are a pretty easy treat too. Be sure to make time for a meal at Skipper"s restaurant and the gift shops near the landing. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Cathy surprised me with a trip to Eagle Island for our Valentines Day wedding anniversary. I had no idea where we were going until Captain Andy picked us up at the dock in Darien. We were delivered to the magnificant Eagle Island by boat, unloaded and said goodbye to the Captain for the weekend. This was without doubt the most relaxing weekend that I can remember. The cottage has everything you could ever need and is mega comfortable. We spent the first day exploring the island and sitting on the dock fishing, reading, and watching the many birds out in the marsh. That night we grilled steaks on the more than adequate BBQ grill, drank some wine and retired to the oversized hot tub. After a late morning we had breakfast out on the inclosed deck, showered in the outdoor shower downstairs, and began another relaxing day. (see above). At the pre arranged time Captain Andy picked us up for the trip back to Darien. On the way he took us by another property that he is rehabbing. I cannot say enough about Eagle Island and Captain Andy. The property is magnificant and is about as private as one can get. The only thing that you need to bring is a tired body and food. Andy will even bring the food if you tell him what you want. We considered an oyster roast but opted against it as we had plenty of food with us. But the option is there for you. Bring plenty of wine or your favorite beverage and enjoy peace and quite like you have never imagined. We are looking forward to another trip to Eagle Island and are talking to relatives about a family reunion there. I strongly recommend this property to anyone who wants an adventure.

Me and 9 other women escaped to Eagle Island this past weekend. It was "Heaven on Earth!" The house was well accomodating to everyone. The outdoor shower, outdoor swing, hot tub...the list goes on and on. I couldn't think of a better way to get away from it all than here. The cabin is beautiful, the landscaping is beautiful, EVERYTHING is marvelous!! Our guide "Paula" was fabulous as well. We all totally enjoyed our stay and are recommending it to everyone we know! We uploaded pics of our trips on facebook and all of our friends are curious about it now. We will be bringing people back here for years to come! Thanks for sharing this property, Andy!!

My wife and family spent my 30th birthday at Eagle Island. I have been a lot of places and seen a lot of things and this place is definately one of the most scenic and unique places that I have visited. Andy Hill has a real gem on his hands with Eagle Island and his other projects that he has going down there on the Mayhall and Sapelo. This is a perfect place for a nice quiet retreat on the Georgia coast. Thanks Syd Rives

Captain Andy Hill offers the most bang for your buck! We highly recommend Eagle Island and neighboring Sapelo Island. It is truly amazing BUT not for everyone. One must be adventurous and ready to go with the flow. We experienced the hottest week on record with frequent thunder and lightening storms but journeyed everyday to neighboring Sapelo, skirting the storms to find some of the best shelling (conch) and sand dollar beaches anywhere. On top of that there was hardly a soul to be found on the beaches... There is an outdoor, screened in hot tub with a fireplace...one night in the midst of a torrential downpour with the rain dancing on the tin roof and every frog, cricket etc singing to the pounding rain, we fired up the hot tub, lit the fire and sipped cocktails! Heavenly! Andy goes above and beyond and is reachable by phone... we even had a leak under the kitchen sink and within an hour, help was there and the leak fixed. I highly recommend Eagle Island, who knows, you may even see the eagle, like we did... Worried about biting flies...just stay on the cleared land around the house and you are safe! Even though we had a boat (rented from Andy), we ordered all our groceries and Andy picked them up and had the house stocked with our order!

My family and I (6 Total) were at Eagle Island for a week, but we wanted to stay longer! This place is wonderful. Andy and his crew have thought of everything. All you need are your clothes and food. They will even pick up your groceries after you order them on line and take them out to the Island for you. The pictures of this Island do not show you the beauty of this place. If you have dogs, they will love it there as much as you. We didn't use a leash all week. We took our boat to explore the area, it was fantastic. We saw many Dolphins, Alligators, birds of all kinds. We sat on the dock at the Island one afternoon and watched 2 Manatee play. We went to the private Island beach. No one was on the beach for miles. That is huge to us, we are use to a crowded beach (Myrtle Beach) so that was a real treat. We went into Darian one afternoon and had dinner at Skippers Fish Camp, the food was great. Took our car to St. Simons to explore a little, but we could hardly wait to go back to Eagle Island. It is peaceful and so quiet there. We have never stayed at a vacation house twice and we go somewhere every year, but we are all in agreement that we will come back here again!! Andy has another place not far from Eagle that should be finished soon. My husband and I are already talking about going there. Andy was gracious enough to let us tour it, it is great! So if you want peace and quiet and someone else to handle all the little details, then Eagle is the place for you.

Andy thanks for a great time on your wonderful island get away. Our group of 12 really enjoyed your island and the great house you have designed for your guest. It was really nice to be away from the busy city life. We enjoyed the kayaking, fishing, playing board games on one of the largest and most beautifully screened wrap around porches we have seen. We even used the crab traps and caught crabs for our last dinner on eagle isalnd. We will be back in the fall or winter to enjoy the fireplace and hot tub on the porch. It was so nice to actually spend time with our friends without all the distractions. We travel a lot and this is the first time where the actual place was better than the internet pictures and write up. Thanks also for taking the time to show us some of your neighboring islands and your plans large group camp outs.

There is not a whole lot to do in Darien, but if you like shrimp, oysters, and fresh local seafood and don't want to be bothered by anyone...go to Eagle Island! Andy and his staff have got this thing vacation in solitude thing down pat. There is a lot of history in this little town, and within an hours drive either way a visitor can wonder through Savannah or St. Simons or any of the local barrier islands. The 20 minute boat ride from Darien Dock winds through the Salt Marshes and one could see numerous wading birds, the occasional alligator, many Osprey and maybe even a Bald Eagle. The home is situated just close enough to the mainland to be accessible for touring, but far enough away that we saw one other fisherman in the four days we spent at Eagle Island. Another twenty minutes boat ride to Sapelo Island, Andy has a 4X4 that provides a short ride to Nanny Goat Beach. There are no goats, no people, no buildings...only pelicans, enormous horseshoe crabs and seashells for as far as the eye can see. The custom built home has the amenities to serve a party of ten or more comfortably. Andy has an outdoor kitchen area with stainless steel fixtures that provide the opportunity to and steam oysters, grill, have a low country boil...everything you would need is there!...right down to the oyster shucking knives. There are outdoor speakers, a hot tub, fireplace and plenty of firewood for the quiet lover's evening. Lose your inhibitions if there are no kids around and bathe in the outdoor shower...What a treat! We enjoyed the dock for fishing and watching nature, which comes fully serviced with electricity and water for cleaning a day's catch. Bring your boat, or rent one. Every corner you turn you'll be thinking, "This guy thought of everything". We brought a lot of our food and drinks with us, but Andy's offer stands....He and his staff will get you anything and have it waiting at the house for your enjoyment. I mean anything!! He even offered to buy our groceries for the visit. Buy some shrimp to take home; it comes in 5lb blocks, but it is some of the best shrimp I've had, and growing up in Florida, I'd say I know seafood. Truly a once - in - a - lifetime experience. Our Thanks to David for the boat use...the tour of Sapelo Island...and your local knowledge in where to go and what to see. I wish I would have taken my pole to catch that Redfish the old-timer caught on Sapelo. That's our secret, because I'll be back. Next time we go diving!

My husband and I enjoyed a weeks stay on Eagle Island for the second year in a row this past March. Total privacy, silent serenity, along with the shear beauty of the Lodge and surroundings will keep us coming back for as long as we're able. There were many breathtaking views from the dock and hiking trails, we took so many pictures. Grounds around the Lodge were well maintained and landscaped beautifully. There were many perfect spots on the Island to meditate and commune with nature ...Stillness.... We looked forward to waking up every morning to the serenade of many different bird species. A Treasure Island indeed for bird watchers. Our eagle made his visits very early in the morning.....Peaceful.... We rented a boat, and enjoyed daily fishing and exploring the tributaries surrounding the Island and near Intracoastal Waterway. We had many exciting wildlife sightings from sunning alligators, numerous sea birds and dolphins. We spent an entire afternoon watching a flock of pelicans feed.....amazing.... just relax and enjoy ...We spent time on the secluded beach on Sapelo Island ...too good to be true...no one on the beach for miles in both directions....Privacy........We have travelled around the World, and stayed at many different places, the Lodge at Eagle Island is comparable to 5 star treatment......very clean and comfortable..... Owner, Andy Hill would provide anything you need at a moments notice. He was the epitome of Southern Hospitality, sharing his great recipes for Steamed Oysters and Low Country Boil with us, and he even shopped and delivered all the ingredients we needed to prepare the meals.....delicious.... Guest amenities were exceptional and we felt very pampered by Andy and the staff. The fully stocked kitchen allowed any type of cusine to be prepared with minimal effort. Great outdoor cooking accomodations too!! Nothing in this world was better than relaxing in the hot tub, roaring fire in the fireplace, every night before retiring...... Romantic...... I have recommended this wonderful vacation spot to all my friends and family, and we hope to be returning very soon.

If you are looking for a great get away for a couple or the whole family , this is the right place to go. A beautiful island to enjoy all by yourself. The island is only accessible by boat. Bring your own or they will deliver you. My wife and I have been there 3 times already and cannot wait to go again. Hiking trail, wildlife, fishing , kayaking and great views. Catch crabs and fish right from the dock. They will deliver and stock you up on any thing you need for your trip. Great outdoor kitchen area for grilling and steaming you fish and crabs. Thank you Andy for a great time. The oysters and shrimp were also wonderful.
