Our Island Thing...
If you have a "thing" for the islands of the Florida Keys then come have a fabulous get away at "Our Island Thing." Do not be cramped on vacation - at over 1900 square feet and beds to sleep nine comfortably - there is room for your whole family, extended family, or even two families.
Located in the Doctors Arm subdivision of Big Pine Key on a double lot with 100 feet of canal frontage and a boat slip Our Island Thing provides easy boating access to the back country, ocean, Looe Key Sanctuary and, Bahia Honda State Park for the best fishing, diving, kayaking, and beach combing in the Keys.
Big Pine Key is home to the only population of Key Deer in the world. They can often be seen milling around in yards and even walking down the streets. Speaking of walking, the famous No Name Pub is within easy walking distance of Our Island Thing for great pizza and cold beer. To take a walk on the wild side Key West is only 30 minutes away.
Our Island Thing is a very spacious, three bedroom, two full bath, solid CBS, private home with dual zone central air. The house has a relaxing tropical décor that is comfortable but not overdone. No smoking or pets are allowed.
On the upper floor there is a huge kitchen equipped with everything you might need. There is a living room with a 27-inch cable TV, DVD, VHS, and stereo with a couch and lazy boy. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and walk in closet and a shared full bath. There is a sitting/reading room with a full size futon for over flow and a eating area with full dining room table and a breakfast bar. All linens and towels are included.
The lower level has a big recreation area with ping-pong table and, a small TV with Nintendo 64 for the kids. Also in the recreation. area are a second full-size refrigerator and a chest freezer for bait and ice and, all the fish and lobster that you can catch. The lower level has two bedrooms and a full bath. The first bedroom has a bunk bed with full futon down and twin up and, two more twins. The second bedroom has a queen. There is a full-size washer and dryer too.
Outside you will find a pearock yard, 100 feet of concrete sea wall, a fish cleaning table with water and electric, and a 12 foot wide by 20 foot long boat slip. There is a guest storage building which houses a gas grill, four large chaise lounges, umbrella, and chairs to go with table for dockside dining, an adult and child’s bikes, and a 12 foot two-person sit on top kayak with paddles and life jackets of all sizes. There is plenty of room to park vehicles and a boat trailer.
As you can probably tell we have equipped Our Island Thing with everything that we would desire to have while on vacation because we use the house too. You will find the house relaxing, comfortable, clean, and convenient to what ever kind of Keys vacation you have in mind. |
