Accessed by a private shell-paved road, the 4-bedroom house is set back into acres of wooded forest with commanding, uninterrupted views of the Chesapeake Bay. Built in 2006, it is a contemporary beach cottage taking it's cues from it's natural surroundings. Unfinished cedar planks along the wood side exterior wall blend naturally with the native pine, cedar, and oak trees. Smooth sand- based stucco on the beachside dramatically ties the house to it's setting. Native grasses and plantings have been reintroduced to extend the natural landscape.
A straightforward layout emphasizes the floor-to-ceiling views from the living, dining and all bedrooms. With comfortable beach cottage furnishings throughout the house is calm, quiet and relaxed. Bamboo flooring extends throughout the living areas, a sea washed stone defines the kitchen and bathrooms, and a natural wool sisal carpet is used in the bedrooms. While care has been taken in creating an environment for getting away from the complexities and distractions of 21st Century life, wireless access, I-pod docking stations, wide screen televisions and other amenities are provided. A large, southern-facing porch and generous decks are perfect for lounging, reading, and gatherings.
