Always Happy to Return to this Vacation Rental

Once again, my husband & I have spent two weeks in this very comfortable & pleasant vacation rental that is worth its rent in every way. As during our previous stays, we have found the property clean, well maintained, & offering all the conveniences that help make our vacation better than average. -- Since we like venturing out into all directions [hiking in the Sandia foothills in the east & the Volcanos in the west, exploring nature preserves & monuments all around town, shopping for groceries & diverse items, going out for dinner in Old Town, using major highways for longer excursions, & much, much more], we very much appreciate its convenient yet peaceful location. After a day of adventure we often relax in the delightful large private garden or in front of the cosy fire place. What's more, the owners always make sure that we are well cared for & even help out with little extras that did not fit into our suitcases, such as the hiking sticks that proved most useful. -- As a photo enthusiast, I can say that the house & its surroundings are better than the photos, & we wish that some of the other guests that have written many words of praise into the guest book might take a moment to share their positive experiences also here. -- In the mean time, we are looking forward to our next visit. -- Recommendations: Sandia foothill hikes around Elena Gallegos Picnic area, ABQ Nature Center, Open Space Visitor Center & Nature Trails, Three Sisters Volcanos, Old Town, Petroglyph Ntntl Mnmt, Sandia Crest, Cienega Picnic Area & Trails, ABQ Botanical Garden, Jemez area [including Walatow Visitor Center & Green Chilli w/ Frybread from roadside vendors], Bandelier Ntnl Mnmnt, Coronado Ntnl Mnmt, White Rock overlook, ... likely more after our next visit ...] PS: In this bed I sleep better than in my own!

Back in Los Ranchos Again

Guest: Carl & Sheila (Travelers)
Date of Stay: 11/01/10 Review Submitted: 01/24/11

This adobe house has been beautifully restored, and is comfortably and attractively furnished. It is very spacious with a huge living room. We especially appreciate the excellent collection of books and videos. This is our third visit, and every time something has been added to improve the property. The new wall around the garden has created a beautiful, peaceful, and private space. Just sitting there and listening to the cottonwood leaves rustle (they make a music all their own, you know) is wonderful. Los Ranchos de Albuquerque has a village/rural feel but is a short drive to Albuquerque attractions. The house is located on a large property with access to the Rio Grande Bosque just down the lane. You can take a short walk or continue on for hours. On Christmas Eve, the luminarias are breathtakingly beautiful. The owners are helpful, generous and a good source of information. Having them just across the road is a real advantage. We are so grateful to them for introducing us to the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, an Albuquerque treasure we have thoroughly enjoyed. We highly recommend this property and will be back.

A vacation rental so good that it has become our second home!

Guest: Landeras (Kalamazoo, Michigan)
Date of Stay: 08/01/10 Review Submitted: 08/26/10

This vacation rental is so good that we’d rather keep it as our secret so that no one else might stay there at times we wish to return. But since we are not that selfish and since it truly deserves our praise, here is what ABQ travelers might like to know: The Basics: the location is accurately described [it is GREAT – quiet enough for that needed sense of VACATION & nonetheless w/i easy reach of most attractions & necessities ]; the photos do not begin to show just how pleasant this adobe & its garden are [comfortable & attractive already on our first visit, but it even improved the second time]; the property is clean & well-maintained [even well-stocked w/ some basics to help out until we could make it to the store]; the owners are most helpful in answering questions even about matters unrelated to the property [such as recommendations – where to take our car for repairs, a great lunch, nice walking trails, etc]. – We definitely would recommend this vacation rental to anyone about whom we truly cared—considering however what their personal preferences would be. For travelers [such as some of our friends] who prefer the sterility of multi-star hotels, this is not for you. This place is for those of you who like a home-base w/ easy access to many delightful places and those of you who like to stay in a place that owns a comfortable southwestern charm and feels like “home” rather than a hotel suite that only recently slid off the assembly line; but it does own plenty of useful amenities [a good kitchen, TV as a last option, & radio & CD players & such]. This place is for those of you who like to enjoy breakfast in a pretty sunlit garden surrounded by a variety of trees, grasses, & flowers throughout which humming birds, nuthatches, and many others make their way in search of food or sing a song, and all of the aforementioned is enveloped by a picturesque adobe wall that is not too close for comfort. When it’s too hot for sitting in the sun, it is fun just hanging out in the shade of the trees and adobe walls, perhaps reading one of the many books from inside the adobe or just eating ice cream. When it’s raining—yes, sometimes it does—it is quite pleasant under the extended adobe roof. And when evenings are too cold for further enjoyment of the garden, inside there are fireplaces just waiting to warm up not only feet but spirit. And that's not all ... In 34 years we’ve never returned anywhere—but this one we've booked already again.
