Why the Owner Chose Laie: Vacation Home. Vacation Rental
The Unique Benefits at this House: We love the quiet location and low-key atmosphere of Laie. For us the perfect day in Hawaii starts with a walk on the beach. From our house it is two blocks to Temple Beach. Temple beach has calm water and is great for small children. Keep walking north along the sand and you come to Hukilau Beach.
Hukilau Beach has small waves that are perfect for children to play in and learn to ride a boogie board. if you keep walking you will pass Goat Island. At low tide you can wade to the island. Keep an eye out for turtles. We frequently see them in this area. Walk around the point and you come to another beach. At the far end of the beach is the surf spot the locals call crystals. This beach is popular for beginning to intermediate surfers and boarders.
After walking on the beach head to the Hukilau Cafe for breakfast. Made famous in the movie 50 First Dates, it is popular with both locals and tourists. My wife loves the banana pancakes while I opt for the french toast.
That is how we love to start our day in Hawaii!
