Absolutely incredible house! Elevator did not work when we got there, call the management person, a service man was there within 5 minutes of our call to repair the elevator. The house is so beautiful and our total stay was above expectations.Owner response: We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. I am glad that the technician was able to get out there to assist you with the elevator in a very timely manner. Please consider us for future reservations as we have other properties in this area.

WE HAD A BLAST!!!! Teresa - Review Submitted December 15, 2011 Date of Stay November 6, 2011 Hello Amanda, Thank you so much for the use of your beautiful home. We had a blast. I'm not sure if you were responsible for ordering the perfect weather for us or not, but we appreciate it very much. I had one of the most relaxing days I've ever had while on vacation on Wednesday spending almost the entire day on the beach with my grandchildren. They played and my husband and I sat and watched, enjoying their laughter and squeals of delight. It was a most perfect day. Again, thank you so much. We enjoyed our stay to the extreme thanks to "our" beautiful vacation home. I say "our" because one of my granddaughters told me that of all of our other houses that we had stayed in this was her favorite and when we came back to Folly we would have to stay here from now on. Sincerely, TeresaDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

Amanda, We had a wonderful time at your beach house on Folly Beach. Thank you for renting it to us. The home is beautiful, the weather was great and we enjoyed getting to know FB. We had great meals in Charleston and visited the Lost Dog for a fabulous breakfast on the recommendation of a close friend who has a home there. We will be sure to tell our friends about your home.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

My family and I arrived at the home and were not able to locate the "lock box" . We had to call the owner and after leaving several messages we finally got a call back. The "lock box" was in the garage located in an out-of-the-way location. The owner never gave any specific information as to the location. Would have been helpful!! Also, upon getting to the home, the front door was completely UNLOCKED!! Once we went into the home it looked as if the previous renters had just went out for a stroll!!! FILTHY HOME! All of the beds looked as if someone had just layed in them. Food was all over the kitchen. Crumbs and old cheese on the countertops. Ramen noodles all over the floor. Garbages full of stinky food. Refrigerator had spilled beer all over the inside. Couch slipcovers all crumpled up. Master bathroom shower was filled with mold. I had to go out and purchase a bottle of bleach cleaner just to take a shower in there. I took several pictures. I should have known that dealing with these people would have been a problem. When I called the owner prior to our arrival to ask why the listing I had originally seen the house on was suddenly offline her response was "I'm really busy with my kids' harvest party"...oh, I'm sorry...I have children also!!! And I am just as busy. She is totally unprofessional. When we called to report the condition of the home she did not apologize. She did not follow up after sending "the cleaning crew". NOTHING! I would not boast that you are a "Charleston native"...you have NO hospitality at all. Terrible representation and management. Will NEVER rent from you again. Granted, the home is a nice home...in DESPERATE need of re-painting of the interior walls and in need of a new cleaning crew, but the management/owners/realtors...they need to get their act together!!!!Owner response: We had a situation where the rental property booked our home and failed to put it on the calendar, so in turn, our private housekeepers were not notified. Unfortunately, our tenants had to be the ones who found the house uncleaned. Once we were made aware of the situation, we immediately sent out our cleaning crew and it was confirmed that they took care of the situation. I am/was sorry that this event occurred. Truth be told, we are always willing to work with our guest in a case where a mistake has been made. We have issued a check to compensate for the maid service. Again, we can't say enough just how sorry we are that this happened. Sometimes mistakes are made, but we have always been and will always be owners that work with our customers to make it right. After all, we want your repeat business. It is true that I am a mother....of 4 who runs 2 family businesses as well as heads up all charitable fundraisers for my children's school, all while showing "Southern Hospitality." I was in the middle of running our children's School's Bazaar when this incident happened. As I stated earlier, once I was notified of the problem at hand, I took immediate action and resolved the issue. I am sorry they feel as if I didn't do enough for them. I wish there was more that I could say. Sincerely, Owner/Manager/Realtor & MOM.

We had a great week at your lovely house on Folly Beach. 1679 A Ashley Avenue. Thank you so much for renting to us despite the false claims posted on the website. We checked in the same day they checked out and saw nothing wrong with the unit. Not sure what she was complaining about. Everything was fine! We plan on coming back next year! FYI, The code worked smoothly and the code was scrambled when the key was replaced at our departure on September 18th around 9:30 am. Again, thank you for the rental time. Re: Beach House Stay From: Amanda Salmonsen <amandasalmonsen@yahoo.com> View Contact To: Sandy Gierlach <sgierlach@sbcglobal.net> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HI Sandy! I'm glad you all had a great time and i do want to apologize about the staircase. For some reason our contractor did not put in stainless steel stairs and they rusted right out. We were finally able to get in the start removing them so they wouldn't pose a threat. Unfortunately, it takes 3-6 weeks to get the stairs in and installed. When the season finally slowed down, we were finally able to get in there and start the process. Thank you for understanding! If there is anything else I can do for you, please let me know! It was absolutely gorgeous! We couldn't have asked for a nicer location. I don't know why our family never did this vacation home thing before. It was nice having us all at one place. Of course the weather was perfect beach weather. The only bummer was not being able to get to the rooftop, but I can see how the ocean takes it toll on beachfront property! The dolphins cooperated too! Can't believe they just swim right by! Anyway, thank you so much for allowing us to rent your beautiful home. We would definitely come back, and next time maybe for a longer stay. It was a wonderful rental experience! Thanks, SandyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This house was NOT as advertised. It is NOT a brand new home. The pool is about 10 feet by 15 feet. We saw many roaches. The mosquitos indoors were awful. The house was full of mold and we all were sick by the end of the week. The owner was totally defensive and ultimately only had the filthy windows power washed. None of our other concerns were addressed. Rooftop deck was selling feature but was closed because stairs had rusted out. We were never told about this. Owner said lack of electronics and dirt was due to the house being burglarized the week before our stay. Thas was not very comforting.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/5

Our extended family stayed at this house in August. It had ample room for all 15 of us (6 of them young children so the provided blowup mattresses for 2 preschoolers were fine). The pictures accurately depict the house minus some wear and tear: there were some stains on the carpets; the spiral staircase to the lookout deck is eroding and is therefore unusable; many of the dimmer switches had problems; and the ocean side deck needed painted as did some of the inside walls/railings. There were some other upkeep issues which I notified the owner of; she said she was addressing them with maintenance. The windows were filthy from ocean salt when we arrived so I did clean what I could reach--we didn't want to miss out on that beautiful ocean view through these large windows! Also we had seen a few cockroaches--which are common in that area. We called and emailed the owner who sent an exterminator within a few hours. This took care of the problem. This house is beautifully made with detailed woodwork and upgraded lighting and appliances. Its location on the island is great--at the northern end away from the hustle and bustle of the older, crowded central entrance point. We particularly enjoyed the ocean side decks during the day and the marsh side decks at night with their great view of Charleston lights. We made several trips to Charleston for tours and really enjoyed the city...just a 1/2 hour drive away; we recommend Hyman's Seafood restaraunt downtown. Several of us walked 15 minutes to the northern tip of Folly to fish with the Morris Island lighthouse in direct view. The pool is small, but was fine for us with smaller children--very refreshing! The elevator was helpful especially for my brother who had recently broken his leg. There was some confusion at checkout with the key. I received conflicting information about where to put it. The realtor concierge book in the house (which was very helpful in other areas) said to take it to the realtor. An early email from the owner stated to put it in the lockbox. I called the realtor the morning of checkout who told me to take it to them; I did. Subsequently I was charged $50 from my deposit by the owner. I have had several emails back and forth with the owner regarding this. She was very nice, but this just isn't good customer service--especially considering all the issues we had. Even with the negatives, our family's overall experience was still a good one.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children.

Our combined family just spent a week at Folly Beach, SC in this home. It was better than expected by the description given, although there were some large stains on master carpets, the house was very clean. Children and adults of all ages enjoyed the spacious rooms and easy access to beach. The pool was an added delight for all! Kitchen is supplied with necessary cooking utensils, ample storage room and counter space for multiple cooks at one time...a must with a large crowd...Elevator was great for move-in and out days and elderly parents. The owner was easily accessible via email. No problem with check-in. Our boys attended Shaka Surf School taught by Jenny Brown and Moira gil Johnwere. Definitely worth the time and money. Some of the restaurants we recommend are: Bowens Island, Rita's, Jack's Cosmic Dogs, Lazo's, Crab Shack, Tokoyo Crepes, Locklear's on the Pier and the Lost Dog Cafe. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone with a large family.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
