Spend time strolling up and down the lane by the house, fishing in the private waters of a trophy trout stream, unwinding in the hot tub, gazing at a star-studded clear night, and bathing in the noises that surround this this north Georgia retreat: tree frogs at night, the rush of the burbling creek 24/7 from the comfort of the screened porch. You deserve the rest-and-relaxation. We offer the ideal location that is secluded, yet not isolated from the amenities you need.

We are a 15 minute drive off Interstate 515 in North Georgia, a 30 minute drive from Amicalola Falls State park, a 25 minute drive from Blue Ridge, a 15-20 minute drive from several apple orchards, 10 minute drive from the fabulous Ellijay Apple Festival, and no distance at all from one of the most beautiful sections of Mountaintown Creek. It's a secluded cabin on a private drive in a REFRESHING environment that has something elegant and enjoyable for all styles and preferences: trout FISHING and TUBING in your FRONT YARD, a hot tub, a clean, mountain creek to spash in, gourmet kitchen, cozy den for the enjoyment of TV, a wood burning FIREPLACE, and a decor that appeals to all with finer tastes.

The cabin is also near other exciting, outdoor activity sites (golf course, horse back riding, hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting).

Our creek front cabin is spacious and will comfortably accommodate 2-6 adult friends, a family of four to six, or 3 couples traveling together. It's of course, ideal for a romantic getaway for two.

River Rest is nestled in a secluded area on the Mountaintown Creek: only four other cabins nearby. One cabin is next door to River Rest, the others are not visible from our property. There are no properties within sight across the creek from us, just beautiful undeveloped wooded land. All paved roads, up until the last mile before the cabin. Then, the road turns to gravel, but it is accessible for all types of vehicles. The air seems to feel just a little bit lighter and cooler, and the sleep is always much deeper and peaceful here. It's a short 15-minute drive from the Ellijay square and local grocery, shopping, and dining options.

The creek by the cabin is a TROUT fisher's local pilgrimage site and flows like a gentle river: about 60 feet wide, 1 to 4 feet deep, and perfect for fly fishing, wading, and floating. Local ANGLERS call Mountain town Creek "one the most picturesque and beautiful trout streams in North Georgia and is quietly becoming one of the best trophy trout streams in the state."

Enjoy the beauty of a unique, Native American fishtrap in the Mountaintown creek on cabin property. Children can spend hours splashing and floating. In the morning, wake to a dip in the hot tub or creek, followed by a breakfast on the porch with brewed coffee, pancakes, syrup, and local apples. At night, wrap yourself in a cotton throw on the screened porch and listen to the burbling water. Tubes for floating are provided in season.

This beautiful creek front cabin features unique, antique and traditional décor and amenities. The first floor has 1 bedroom with a queen-sized pencil post bed, 1 bathroom which was updated recently with shower and tub, den, kitchen, dining area with 19th century tilt-top breakfast table, and screened porch and deck.

The second floor has 1 bedroom with 1 queen-sized, carved post bed, 1 bathroom which was updated recently with a shower, loft with sleeper sofa, and large walk-in closet. All one-of-a-kind furnishings are selected to make you feel special. You truly feel at home, versus in a rental cabin, at River Rest.

The screened porch has charming, white wicker furniture including a dining table that seats 4, ceiling fans, and rocking chairs. You'll want to sit and stay as long as possible to play some checkers, read a book, or dine with friends and family. The deck has a picnic table for four, and is a great spot for morning coffee.

The HOT TUB is an easy few steps from the door. It is private, faces an undeveloped creekfront lot, seats 5 people, and is accessible from the deck with a great view of the creek.

Last, and our favorite, the cabin has a small and growing "Lending LIBRARY." Need a book to read while you are here? Can't finish it during your stay? Fine. Keep it and return it upon your next stay. Leave a book for our other guests if you bring one of your own.

Your friends and family will thank you for selecting a special place for building memories, having fun, and relaxing. River Rest offers a home away from home. You need the rest, and you're always at home at River Rest.

Why the Owner Chose Ellijay

My family purchased this property a few years ago, after falling in love with the beauty of Mountaintown creek that flows by us as well as the quiet, dead-end lane where the cabin is located. In addition, we like the Ellijay area, because it represents a sharp departure from the cookie-cutter, over crowded, mountain vacation destinations we have seen elsewhere. Ellijay and the surrounding area offers our family ample options with regard to outdoor activities as well as the chance to be together away from the hustle and bustle of life.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

This cabin reflects the touch of an interior decorator, and our personal preferences for antique and traditional furnishings. We think that the decor as well as the cabin location offer a unique destination for guests.

Peaceful with Babbling Creek

What a lovely luxury cabin! We spent a week and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, the creek with huge rocks; we watched movies and read; there were several good reading spots in the cabin with good lighting. We hiked on nearby trails; we enjoyed kayaking nearby at Cortecay. The owners were so gracious and helpful. The kitchen was quite nice, as well as the washer and dryer. The upstairs bedroom with its own sitting area was especially nice. The hot tub was a real treat. The cabin was clean and neat and nicely decorated and comfortable. The screened in front porch was so delightful! We didn't fish but lots of visitors there do and catch trout. It was a wonderful week!

Wonderful vacation

We had a great time at the cabin. The location is beautiful and the pictures do not do justice to the place. Our children spent their days tubing up and down the creek and they loved it, we also enjoyed the recreation center at the resort. One day we went tubing in the river for 21/2 hours, a really fun thing to do.. We also drove to a really beautiful town called Dahlonega, to the falls and to the gold mine. We cannot wait to come back. It was a wonderful experience and I cannot say enough about Sarah, it was excellent to deal with. I forgot something at the cabin and she shipped it to me immediately. The house was so nicely decorated, with attention to detail and I loved the floors!! Thank you Sarah for letting us share your place...

Perfect place to propose!

Guest: Kris and Katherine (Savannah, GA and Bronx, NY)
Date of Stay: 02/11/11 Review Submitted: 02/15/11

So first off, this place is a little piece of heaven in the woods. It is very cozy and peaceful. I met Katherine on Eharmony.com and this weekend (11-13 Feb 2011) was very special for us, for this weekend Katherine agreed to be my wife. I couldn't think of a better place to have proposed. The cabin is really cozy and is right on the river. The fireplace warms the cabin well and if you open the door or the window, you can hear the river (trout stream) really well. It is a very peaceful sound. The hot tub is very perfect and is great regardless how cold it is outside. You don't feel the cold air when your in it. There is tons to do in the area and if you choose there is even a chef that will come to the cabin, cook a wonderful meal for you and even clean up afterwards. We will be returning in the near future again. I will also be recommending this cabin to lots of my friends in the future. Sarah is great to work with and she can help you make any week or weekend special. Kris and Katherine

Date of Stay: 09/03/10 Review Submitted: 09/07/10

Just returned home from a wonderful Labor Day weekend at River Rest. Highly recommend this cozy cabin Our family had a wonderful time wading in beautiful Mountaintown Creek, hiking in the nearby Cohuttas, and picking apples. The owner was very nice and called to make sure everything was OK. There is a cabin next door but it still feels pretty isolated.

WHAT A GREAT PLACE!

Guest: J & R (Knoxville, TN)
Date of Stay: 08/08/10 Review Submitted: 08/17/10

Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us! This truly is a peaceful place. The location of the cabin is fantastic. It is secluded, but so close to everything. The cabin, itself, is lovely and so comfy. We really enjoyed the large screened porch, overlooking the beautiful creek each morning and night. There is nothing more relaxing than listening to water running over the rocks in the creek. The owner was great to work with and made sure everything was in order for us. Once again thank you it was wonderful and exactly what we needed.

You'll love River Rest

Guest: Relaxed Guests (Peachtree City, Georgia)
Date of Stay: 07/16/10 Review Submitted: 07/20/10

We had the most relaxing vacation ever at River Rest!!! I would call this cabin: rustic elegance. The furnishing are beautiful. Everything is high end. From the kitchen to the linens, nothing but the best! It literally sits on the river. The only thing between you and the water is a single lane dirt road. We loved it and plan to return soon.

Peaceful Vacation

Date of Stay: 10/14/09 Review Submitted: 07/11/10

We stayed at River Rest in October 2009. The pictures are exactly what you will get when you stay here. Sitting on the patio listening to the creek was just so relaxing. The owner was very helpful when we called with a hot tub temperature concern. The first time you drive to the house can be a bit concerning as you drive along the creek with little room on either side. But do it a few times and you will relax. We even had massages at the house - they came to us.We left each morning to do the touristy stuff and came back later afternoon for drinks and relaxing on the patio. The guys would BBQ and then we'd sit in the hot tub. It was too cold for us to enjoy the creek for anything other than listening to it.

Thank you so much for a great long weekend. The cabin was beautiful! The "hot pool" was a hit with the kids as well as the short drive to the pool. We had so much fun splashing in the creek and seeing who could count the most deer! Again, thank you so much or a great weekend. Tim and Karen

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this beautifully furnished cabin in the woods by a wonderful rushing and somewhat noisy river. Everything was perfect, we liked the area so much we purchased 'a little log cabin' in the woods!
