Up to 10 times a year we have groups of up to 45 students and professors staying for 1 or 2 weeks at this location, to do charitable work and to relax fro a few days and reflect on our society and its future. The staff is extremely friendly, they help us with everything, they speak english and french, Wilton, Felix , Alexis and the girls, Marc the diplomat owner , the food delicious, large refined bedrooms, the installations are a unique historical landmark from the 16th century and all modern amenities, WIFI, Cable, AC, nice swimming pool, gym, jacuzzi and we can walk everywhere, museums, cathedral, shops, restaurants, bars , parks and even the clubs with great live music and dancing, bachata, merengue, salsa, all of it !Did you find this review helpful? Barbara Family with older children Kings Lynn Norfolk, United Kingdom September 24, 2012 We loved the ambiance, the architecture, the positions of the rooms, the pretty area, the very helpful staff, The staff went out of their way to bring us anything they noticed we needed, like a spoon and serviettes for our salsa and chips snack while we were sitting in the pool area. Jamie Family with young children NY USA January 14, 2013 The old world feel of the hotel - the free breakfast - the very helpful and friendly staff - the location - it was very quiet, we thought we were the only ones staying at the hotel. There was an older guest who had a local female "guest" stay with him on evening. My husband and I figured out that this female guest was a "lady of the evening". What was good about that, was that it was very discreetly done. Meaning that no attention was paid to this "hired lady of the evening" as she left the next morning. We had originally booked the apartment size accommodation, but when we got to the hotel,the owner had called the front desk worker and said that we could stay in one of the other rooms in the hotel because the apartment accommodation was located far away from the hotel (somewhere farther away from the Colonial Zone). The large suite we stayed was great....it had one large king bed in one room and the joining room had three twin beds, perfect for our two boys and my 70yr old mother!Did you find this review helpful? The hotels location is great if you're there for the Historic sights.....there are so many things to see within walking distance. The local little corner stores are a good time if you enjoy a drink with the local community. The rooms are clean and the staff was helpful. The only thing that should be mentioned is that if your an older couple some of the rooms, not all, you have to climb up a ladder/stair case to reach the second level deck where the bed is located.. We loved it, but some people wont. If your looking for just a high end 5 star this is not for you...But if your looking for atmosphere and the feeling of being in a historic location this is it......We would def go back.....and recommend this to those who are looking to find the feeling of the historic times...with a pool...hahahaDid you find this review helpful? Firstly, the apartment is two blocks from the hotel that supports it, so the photos of the lobby and the pool is not in the same building as you would think. Secondly, the location is very convenient to the shops, only one block away. The area can be unsafe at night, we had the side-view mirrors stolen off the rental car which was parked directly in front of the apartment. Third, inside the apartment the furniture is only average. Beds were average, the A/C in the living room DID NOT work, that was the worse. However, the bedroom A/Cs did work. Overall, the apartment could easily be nicer however, there was no concern to make it better by fixing the A/C and improving the furniture and beds.
