  I wanted a truly authentic experience and this was the perfect place to explore Pennsylvania. The home is warm and the welcome charming. It's hard to decide which was my favorite...starting and ending the day on the porch in the swing with a cat curdled up on my lap listening to the babbling brook below, watching the baby goats play, or walking on the trail in the spring light. The goodies of farm fresh eggs, local wine, Hershey chocolates, Miller's Cottage honey, and kitty treats were a wonderful welcome. I would recommend this place and hope to return soon Even though it is set in the remote country side, it's close to a small town with a number of convience and from here we went to Gettysburg, Hershey, and Pittsburg (all less than 2 hrs away).

  Ruth's place was true to every detail in the listing. She even went beyond what was needed when she learned my Mom (who is allergic to dogs) was coming along instead of my husband and the dogs. See, my husband was suppose to come orginally but then was called to go on a deployment. My Mom came out so the kids wouldn't have their trip to Hershey cancelled for the second time. My Mom's allergies never developed even though this is a place frequented my dogs. Ruth also was very helpfull in providing for our every need (even a screwdriver for a scared of the dark child who's star-light pillow-pet needed batteries). We can't wait to come back with Daddy (and of course the doggies too)!

  Ruth was great and our kids loved the dogs. The place is very comfortable and conveniently located to all of the Hershey attractions!!!

  Ruth was very friendly and she made sure our stay was comfortable. Very cozy place to stay at, equipped with everything you would need... I was surprised to find a crock pot in the cupboard! There was even toys for the kids to play with. After a long day out the kids enjoyed decorating the driveway with sidewalk chalk. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is upgrading the bath tub to a walk-in shower... it was a little difficult to shower in there. But overall we had a very enjoyable time staying at Ruth's playce!

  Our family of four (one of us is covered in fur and barks when she talks, but shhh! we don't tell her she is different) stayed here in snowy January. My expectations weren't huge when we pulled up and saw that this is a basement apartment that is entered thru the garage, but the second we met Ruth and saw this cozy little place, we were instantly charmed! There was little natural light in the place, but there was an awesome fireplace and some of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! The kitchen and bathtub were a little small if you are plus sized, but not one of these little imperfections really mattered or hindered our stay. Our pit bull terrier rescue was welcomed like one of the family and the huge fenced in back yard was a blessing I haven't found anywhere else. Anyone traveling with pets won't mind the occassional bark from upstairs, and even if you are not a dog lover, there is no more noise than the average hotel would have. Ruth was awesome, even played cards with us on a relaxing night in. We found that we were so comfortable that we stayed in and read books and watched movies, napped and played board games a couple of days instead of going sightseeing as planned. Priceless family time since our lives are generally chaotically busy. This place is no more than 5 minutes from any of the local attractions and there is a ton of info in the apartment on things to do in the area and restraunts to try out. Thank you, Ruth for your hospitality. We will definately stay here if traveling back in this area!

  Pros: Convenient to Hershey Park, Giant Center, & Hershey World. King size bed was comfortable. Very, very, pet friendly. Owner was pleasant upon arrival. Cons: Damp, dark basement apartment with very poor lighting. Access to the apartment is through a cluttered garage, no key needed you enter & exit with the garage door opener. Because this is a basement apartment their is no outside view since windows are up near the ceiling. Sleep was limited due to snoring from upstairs resident that you could hear through the ceiling. Every time the owner's pets moved during the night you could hear their claws clacking across the floor overhead. Christmas decorations were still displayed in May. Very dusty shelves, numerous cobwebs on walls, visible hair on lamp shades & pillow case. Ceiling tiles missing in bathroom, plumbing pipes exposed, claw foot tub not easily accessible. "Buyer Beware" Price listed is based on single occupancy, verify price with owner in writing before finalizing contract.

  Recommended for: Pet owners.

  Owner response: I was surprised with this response as there was never any negative comment presented to me at the time of their stay; as a matter of fact, I always ask the rentors if everything is to their satisfaction, as I did their daughter, when they were on their way out, she told me everything was very comfortable; I am so sorry or any inconvenience these rentors experieced; they, as others, read my profile of the apartment and knew what to expect in the way of the clawfoot tub, it is listed; I encourage folks to let me know if they find anything uncomfortable when staying at the Suitest Playce Guest House; and in my pricing, it states, the price is based on number of guests; these folks had no issue with pricing when booking; I am upset they did not have a positive experience. Thank you.

  We were really lucky to find Ruth apt. to stay in. Ruth is such a nice, charming lady. She even took care of our 2 dogs while we spent the whole day at Hershey Park, which is only 3 mins away from her house!!!! We only stayed there for a weekend and we didn't have the time to do all the things we would have wanted to, there's so many things you can do there. However, now we know we can return anytime, making sure to plan ahead of time, to have our dates booked.

  After searching several options in Hershey Ruth's "Suitest Playce" jumped to the top of the list. And we are certainly glad we stayed at this humble abode. From our arrival to our departure it was a 5-star experience. Ruth was doing yard work and her rescue pups were hovering watching for friendly guests to arrive. They loves our sons (ages 15 & 9), and the 9 yr old spent time playing with all of them. Our rescue dog, Willo quickly became a "friend" of theirs and Ruth was our doggie-nanny while we visited Gettysburg (45 min) and Hershey Park (4 min). Her place is nicely appointed, clean & the beds are VERY comfortable. The kitchen has all you might need, there is a BBQ grill, laundry facilities, outside fierpit, lawn chairs, and a wonderful fenced in yard for our four-legged family members. The TVs all have cable and the kids liked that after a long day at the park. The rooms are spacious and the ceiling fans kept the rooms cool. The only down side of the trip --- we had to leave! But we will return!

  My husband and our 2 1/2 year old daughter stayed here recently and enjoyed our stay. The master bedroom had a toddler bed set up with princess theme bedding and my daughter loved it. The owner is a very nice lady and showed us plenty of toys for our daughter to play with. We spent most of our time visiting with family, shopping, and seeing Chocolate World, so we weren't at the property long enough to enjoy the horses. You enter the guest house through the garage, and the owner lives upstairs. It met our needs and we slept comfortably. Before we left, the owner gave our daughter some Easter eggs and coloring items in a basket, which was a thoughtful thing to do.

  My husband, six year old son and our two Weimaraners enjoyed a nice week long stay at Ruth's. The accomodations were fantastic and just what we were looking for. The park is a two minute drive and there were plenty of other exciting things to do nearby. We also enjoyed some downtime at Ruth's and our dogs just adored Ruth and her dogs. Ruth was so kind to us and made us feel right at home and even cooked us dinner one night. Such a treat! We will certainly stay at the "Suitest Playce" again in the future. Thanks for such a great time!
