This gem of a house is right at the top of one of Provence’s most beautiful hill-top villages - Menerbes in the Luberon natural park. It has stunning views of the Luberon mountain and the valley below. Even when you are in bed there are three views to choose from – the mountain opposite, down the valley to the sunset, and over the rooftops. Menerbes was the village that inspired Peter Mayle to write 'A Year in Provence'. Being at its highest point means peace, solitude and inspiration; while the little shops, cafes, restaurants and village life are a couple of minutes stroll down the hill. To maximize the light and views the bedroom and bathroom are on a mezzanine above the living room and kitchen. There are huge windows opening onto the view and a sun terrace where you can eat and lounge. It is finished and furnished to a very high standard, with hand-made tiles and furniture. There is free WiFi internet and even an off-street parking spot.
Location is everything: Menerbes is the heart of one of the most enchanted corners of this world – the Luberon. Everything you read about in ‘A Year in Provence’ is here - the lavender-scented landscapes; daily markets overflowing with local produce that actually tastes of something; hilltop villages rising above the sea of vineyards and sunflowers; outstanding food and wine; and the sensational quality of light that has always brought painters and poets here. In Provence, everything simply tastes, smells, and looks better than at home. And it’s all right on your doorstep.
This is a year-round destination - the Luberon in winter is as beautiful in its way as during the long summer that can stretch from May to October. High above the cares of the world, the house is perfect for a romantic couple or an artist in need of inspiration.

Having just spent a week exploring the region of Luberon while enjoying this marvelous house perched at the top of Menerbes, we can confirm that it is the perfect home away from home for two people. The comfort, privacy and expansive views would be difficult to duplicate along with the fine appliances, comfortable bed, high speed Internet access and private parking. Of all the villages we visited in the area, and many are incredible for sure, we found ourselves anxious to return “home” to enjoy all that this house has to offer.Did you find this review helpful? We stayed in this wonderful apartment looking over the farming land and beyond to the Luberon mountains for a week. Our stay was just so enjoyable as Paolo had ensured everything was provided. We had breakfast out on the terrace each morning and of course cocktail hour relaxing out there as well. Next time we will definitely stay more than a week as we totally enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this apartment to anyone wanting a relaxing and romantic stay.Did you find this review helpful?
