Located just a short 30 second walk away from one of Maui's beautiful beaches lies....Hale Ma Ke Kai...the house by the sea. This is what my eldest brother, Kilani, named our privately owned 1/2 acre property, across from the beach, when we were growing up in Kihei, on this property. We would like to share with you our cottage, that beautiful view and colorful sunsets!

In addition to being located 30 seconds away from a five mile long sandy beach which promises peaceful mornings or spectacular sunset strolls, water sports and whale watching (during the yearly humpback migration, Oct. thru April ), this cottage is also centrally located to the different sights and other attractions that Maui has to offer.

There is a farmer's market and a convenience store 1/2 block one way and open air markets, tour sign-ups, fantastic resturants, health care, if needed, etc., about two miles away. Year round, the surfing, paddle boarding and the snorkeling is even better.

Our cottage offers tasteful tropical blends of old and new, and are complimented nicely by some antique Hawaiian furniture and thoughtful amenities that lend to a cozy and relaxing feeling of "coming home" to your beach cottage. Our full modern kitchen offers Kenmore appliances and Corian counters, and marble like 16x16 ceramic floor tiles throughout. It is equipped with just about everything you might need. Almost like home because we do treat you like ohana (family)! And we even have FREE wireless high speed internet!

For the warm days that Kihei is noted for, just turn on the Lennox Air Conditioning and/or overhead tropical fans to cool off and relax. We have just added a teak outside shower to wash away the salt and sand after a day at the beach!

  • Harry and Linda, Thank you for being such gracious and wonderful hosts. We truly enjoyed our stay at your cottage. It was beautifully decorated and was a great home away from home. We've been to Kihei many times and we've never found a vacation rental as well-stocked as yours. You thought of everything, and then some. One of the best things was close proximity of the cottage to the beach. We were able to get up in the morning, cross the street, and take a relaxing walk on the beach. The huge front yard was perfect for sunning and playing games. All in all, we couldn't have asked for better accommodations. We've yet to return to a Kihei vacation rental twice, but we certainly intend to return to your cottage in the future. What a wonderful, relaxing place to come home to after a day at the beach.

  • We just returned from our 2nd trip to Maui. We're glad we chose this central cottage location in Kihei. It was close to everything - Lahaina, Wailea, airport and Paia. There is a beautiful 5 mile beach across the street great for walking and swimming. It was never crowded and the water is very clear. The cottage had every amenity needed and then some. The welcome basket with fresh fruit and flowers was another nice touch. Nicely decorated with a touch of 'home'. Did I also mention LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION!!

  • Linda & Harry: We loved your house -- you thought of everything!!! Our college-age children were thrilled with the flat screen TVs/DVDs in all of the bedrooms, playing poker with the playing cards, and especially the huge park-like yard for playing frisbee. They spent a lot of time sunning in the fabulous lounge chairs out front. We loved the fully functional and handy kitchen, the beautifully appointed bathrooms (we used the jacuzzi bath several times - awesome!), the amazing amount of hot water as no one ever complained of running out and five of us were using the showers nearly simultaneously! The quiet setting close to all amenities, the amazing view of the beach and ocean, the crashing waves at night -- we loved it here. We thank you for your gracious hospitality, your personal attention every detail and your interest in our welfare and the success of our holiday. We appreciate knowing locals for suggestions on restaurants and activities -- you two were great! In all, your property and your hospitality exceeded our expectations and we are delighted.   • Linda and Harry, We had such a wonderful stay at Hale Ma Ke Kai...the house by the sea. The cottage was everything we wanted and much more than expected! Very clean, comfortable and bright with all the comforts of home. I highly recommend either the two bedroom cottage or three bedroom home as they are both very nice places (thanks for the tour of the "big house"). Thank you again for letting us stay at the wonderful cottage. I'll never look for another place to stay again in Maui as your place was "tops". I've already recommended it to friends and family.
