For the week we stayed in the garden apartment it was a perfect base for us. Travelling as two families with children aged 3 and 6 we received a warm welcome from Stephanie. The apartment was cosy, nicely decorated and well equipped with all we needed. Best of all the subway was just around the corner, with plenty lines giving us easy access wherever we were going. We also found the local bars and restaurants to be excellent, a great neighbourhood so stay in with kids, which is exactly what we were looking for. Would highly recommend to others and stay again next time we are in New York. Alan & Kim, Scotland.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We (2 parents and 2 young couples) had a perfect stay i Stephanie and Justin's apartment. We really felt at home and welcome there. Everything was perfect (clean apartment, nice neighborhood, perfect location for the subway and very helpful hosts). Don't hesitate to rent this if you are going to New York. Brooklyn is a great place to stay. One small suggestion for you Stephanie: Change the pullout/trundle bed in bedroom #3 with a narrow Queen size bed. There is room for it - and it would be a bit more comfortable for a couple. We really loved being there. Thank you for a wonderful week. Best regards J M N S B CDid you find this review helpful? Our family ( including three teenage daughters and grandmother) had a fantastic time time in this beautiful apartment. Without the owners help we might not have made it across the Atlantic at all. Due to the Blizzard hitting New York, 3600 flights were cancelled but we received an email from Stephanie warning us and were able to change to an earlier flight. The apartment is very comfortable and cosy warm even during a blizzard. It is super clean and tastefully furnished and we felt at home the minute we arrived. The apartment is very well kitted out, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. Stephanie could not be more helpful and obliging and her tips regarding restaurants, shopping and how to get around were very helpful. Fort Green is a very pretty area and feels very safe, there are plenty of good restaurants and shops very close by. It was very easy to get from JFK to the apartment by train and it is only a 4 minutes walk from the station to the apartment (if you don't forget the map Stephanie sends you in advance) The 15 minutes trip into Manhattan, crossing Manhattan Bridge is exciting every day and it is great to escape the hustle and bustle of Manhattan in the evening and experience a residential area with its beautiful brownstone buildings. 5 minutes walk from the apartment is the Barclays centre, home of the Brooklyn Nets and definitely well worth a visit for a basketball game. We can highly recommend this apartment and will stay here again the next time we will visit New York.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family was in need of a place to stay while visiting me for Thanksgiving and I was very happy to find this one. The apt is comfortable, quiet, and very large. We had 4 people stay with more than enough room. The owner was very professional and returned my calls and email right away leading up to the stay. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in Brooklyn.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We ( a family of five, with 3 teenage sons) had a very nice stay last week. Every evening it felt like coming home. The apartment has such good beds, that our very sore backs, feet, legs and knees ( New York, New York!!) could recover over night! It is very clean, very spacious and decorated with love and good taste. We truly think that a hotel would have been a minor alternative. What also was very convenient, was that all the stuff that you usually have to pack when you rent an apartment, like toilet paper, cleaning devices, basics for cooking etc. was already there. With all that in mind and with the washing machine and dryer that worked perfectly after Stephanie explained them to us, you can certainly travel light ( always good when you want to go shopping in New York). However, when you ‘re from outside the US, think of bringing an adapter that fits the electric devices that you bring with you from at home. Otherwise you may not be able to recharge your telephone; the American plugs are very different than the European ones. Stephanie, thank you very much for your help in advance of planning the trip; your suggestion about taking the Air Train from JFK to Jamaica Station and then take the L.I.R.R.-train to Atlantic terminal was just right. For a group of 5 it wouldn’t have been easy to find a taxi cab ( we tried). I really can’t imagine that a taxi ride would have been quicker and certainly not have been cheaper. And although we planned our stay in New York in advance with a day to day plan, it was good to get some insider tips from you. We’re looking back with a very positive feeling. We will certainly recommend the apartment to our friends; for the short time that it takes to ride the subway from Manhattan to Atlantic station and the following 4 (!) minutes’ walk to ‘your own front door’ it’s not necessary to stay in noisy Manhattan. Best regards, with one star per person, R M F K JDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We are a family of four from Australia, with teenage children. This apartment was perfect for us, and I highly recommend it. It is clean and well maintained. The living area is a good size, the beds are all comfortable, and it was very quiet at night. It is also only one block from the subway, and you can travel anywhere without needing to change trains. The surrounding area is great, with lots of shops and restaurants. In fact we discovered that Brooklyn is a great place to look around, with hardly any tourists. Stephanie and Justin are very helpful and made us feel at home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

Stephanie and Justin's apartment was just as the listing said. We had a great time in Brooklyn and Fort Greene is such a central location ... close to the subway, shopping centre and great restaurants and diners. The Smoke Joint and Academy Diner were fabulous with great food and value for money. Stephanie was extremely helpful and nothing was a problem. The apartment was perfect and very comfortable for our family of four and it was great to have private access to laundry facilities. Stephanie & Justin thought of everything when they prepared this apartment as a holiday rental. There is everything you could possibly want and need in the kitchen and bathroom ... and there's a crib and high chair if you have a bub. I highly recommend this apartment for anyone wanting to explore Brooklyn.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Description a little generous in stating that sleeping is for 6 adults. In reality, comfortably slept 4. Should also note it is a basement apartment. Not enough seating for 6 people. Furniture OK in terms of comfort, but a couple of people had to sit on the floor. Some nasty smells from sewer meant that couldn't leave windows open and had to leave air conditioning on. Good location (10 minutes subway to Manhattan) and an OK apartment if you intend to spend all your waking hours away doing tourist activities.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.
Owner response: We are very sad and taken aback to see such a review of our apartment. I wish the Guests would have expressed their concerns to me personally. Our objective is to have satisfied and happy guests. We strive to make visits convenient and comfortable. We do not feel it is an accurate depiction of the apartment and address it as follows: 1. We have never received complaints from anyone about sewer smells nor did these Guests (or others) say anything about this while here. We have spoken with the guests that stayed before and after the these Guests and all assure us they did not experience unpleasant smells and were able to open the windows. We live in the house too, in prior years we occupied this apartment ourselves, and never had a problem with smells. 2.This is NOT a basement apartment. This is a typical 19th century Brownstone townhouse garden apartment. The front of the apartment is one and half steps down from street level & has full sized windows; NOT subterranean as can be seen in our photos. The back of the apartment is at ground level and walks out straight out to the backyard. 3. The setup of the bedrooms and number of beds is clear from our description and photograph. There is a King, a Queen and 2 twins/singles (one extra long and one normal). We have had numerous groups with 6 adults who found it comfortable. It is clear from our description that with 6 people there will have to be 2 people in each bedroom with some bed sharing. 4. Unfortunately, immediately prior to the Guests' arrival, a club chair had broken and we did not have an immediate replacement. (The replacement club chair is back in the apartment and is the same chair in photos.) We informed the Guests about this and they indicated it was not a problem. Otherwise there is seating for 6 in both the living/tv area and at the dining room table. We encourage all interested to contact us and welcome questions about the property ! Stephanie

We enjoyed our stay at Stephanie’s place. The apartment was spotless and very well furnished. It was very hot and humid in NYC during our stay but the 3 air conditioners in the apartment were enough to keep a comfortable temperature to refresh us after long days of walking and visiting. We also enjoyed the nice terrace in the backyard of the house. There is a large supermarket open 24/7 to get all the food you need and plenty of nice restaurants around the place. The subway is at one block and you can get quickly to Manhattan via express trains (we always felt very safe using the subway even late at night). We found also very interesting to have a shopping center at a walking distance as well as Prospect Park (which is a very nice and large park in Brooklyn). I am a jogger and did my 10km run each morning in the park before heading to the city. We will definitely come back and explore Brooklyn a little bit more next time.Did you find this review helpful?
