Magic in the Mountains

If you're looking for a home away from home for as little as a basic hotel stay, this Cabin is it. This cabin has all the ammenities of home along with the million dollar views. Plus, if you so choose, the million dollar chance at the Cherokee Ruby and Sapphire Mine at the bottom of the mountain, in the heart of Carolina gem country. I found a 2 carat ruby on my first try. I give this place 5 out of 5 stars.

Owner response:Thanks for the great review. We pride ourselves on being one of the best value in the Smokies. There have been some beautiful stones discovered lately at the Cherokee Mine, yours being evidence of it. You can't beat the convenience of a 2 minute drive down the mountain to get to the mine. See you next time!! Jeff & Tammy

Cowee Valley Rustic Log Cabin is truly a little gem!! We have stayed in alot of cabins, but the affordability of this one is unheard of. It is really a log cabin!! Their is a wood burning stove, and a gas fireplace to keep you toastie on those chilly mountain nights. They are pet friendly and very gracious about it considering they are " Dog " people too!! It is cosy and well taken care of. The view is breath taking and their are lots of property to roam around on.Everything is very close to get to. It was easy to book thru the Owner Jeff, and he was very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this to anyone, because of the great price we are going to be able to make more visits up their!!! Thanks Jeff and Tammie Lori Mc.

Great long weekend getaway!

Our trip was planned at the last minute. My husband is an Army officer and had a little bit of leave time. We live about 2 1/2 hrs from Franklin, but felt like we were a world away. We were able to enjoy this adorable little cabin with NO STRESS. Morning were spent having coffee on the elevated gazebo, overlooking the beautiful valley. Thanks Jeff for hooking us up and we hope to get away again soon!!

Owner response:Thanks Kim and Luther, Glad I can help the men in service unwind in these trying times. We look forward to hearing from you in the future to get some more R&R. Jeff

My husband and I recently spent a wonderful week at the Warshaw cabin near Franklin. We hiked to waterfalls, fished & boated on nearby Lake Nantahala, explored Franklin and enjoyed just relaxing on the swing at the cabin. I highly recommend staying here.

Owner response:Thank you very much Cindy. It was our pleasure having you are our guests. We look forward to hearing from you next time you are in the area. Jeff & Tammy

Perfect little getaway!

We loved our time at the cabin! It is very secluded and so comfortable. We will definitely be back again. The area is so cute too! We went to the gem mines and had a blast. Only thing is, do not follow map quest directions!!! We came from Charlotte and it took us the wrong way. Took us over an hour to finally get to the cabin. But, we loved it once we got there! Can't wait to come again sometime

Owner response:Thank you very much Blair, Sorry about the Mapquest ordeal, I guess the satellite systems are not as reliable as we thought. I will make a note about the misdirection in Mapquest. We look forward to having you again as our guests. See you next time! Jeff & Tammy

Cabin in the Clouds--a very enjoyable time!

My husband Ron and I wanted to do some gem mining in Franklin, NC. We found your cabin listed on the internet and booked Memorial Day weekend. We traveled from NW Ohio and when we arrived, well it took our breath away! Such beauty and solitude! Each morning we had coffee in the swing atop the outdoor "gazebo". The place was more than we expected. We definitely want to make a return trip either this fall or next near! Such an enjoyable time! Found some neat rubies and sapphires, too!

Fantastic value, comfy, quiet, and close to town

We stayed here for the second part of our honeymoon and it was perfect. It's just enough out of Franklin, NC to feel secluded, but not too far away for a last minute dinner out at a couple of good restaurants. We used this as a base for activities in the Smokies. The cabin is in excellent condition, kitchen and bathroom are modern and very nice. Enough hot water for two was never a problem. The bench swing in the gazebo overlooking a couple mountains and valley is sweet. Jeff handled the transaction perfectly; it was my first time to do this and was a little wary about sending funds to an absentee owner but Jeff maintained great communication through the early reservation (a MUST) all the way to the return of the damage deposit a week after we returned home. We will definitely return here when we visit the area again! Thanks, Jeff!

Owner response:Don, Thank you for the kind words. It was our pleasure having you at our place and an honor having you as our guests for the celebration of your honeymoon! We look forward to hearing from you in the future for your return visit. Jeff

Great Get Away

Mountain fresh air, great views and a log cabin, what else can you ask for? We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary here and it was a wonderful 8 days. Amenities include washer/dryer, microwave, Direct TV for two tv's. Queen sized master bedroom and loft with bedding as well as a fold out couch. Located minutes from the Cherokee Ruby Mine this little cabin is a great place to run to when you need to run away from the day to day stresses of life. Travel up the gravel road into a quiet little sanctuary. You won't hear traffic noises, just the wind blowing through the trees. Sit on the elevated swing and look down into the valley and enjoy life. All you need is your clothing and food. This was our second visit to the cabin. We stayed for a long weekend once before and enjoyed it so much we had to go back.

Owner response:Thank you for the very nice words about our cabin. It was a pleasure having you here again celebrating your anniversary. We look forward to seeing you next year!

Absolutely Fantastic Vacation Getaway.....

Just returned from a 2nd excursion to the Warshaw cabin. Plans are to return again and again. The well kept and immaculate cabin provides a spacious living area with all the amenities of home. The Warshaw's have been very accomodating, easy to reach and respond promptly to all inquiries The cabins location on the mountain couldn't be better if your looking for an escape from the real world. Love the views and the sounds of nature that greet one upon awakening each morning. The cabin is located within a half to one hour drive of many sightseeing and hiking trails to explore and discover westen NC. The numerous waterfalls in the area are an added bonus, for those willing to make the short treks to discover them. There are numerous pristine golf courses in the vicinity, rivers inwhich to raft, kayak, canoe , or fish in. Loved visiting, shopping and dining in the towns of Bryson City, Franklin, Waynesville, Highlands, and Cherokee, to name a few. The Sweet Onion in Waynesville has table fair to die for. A stop at Kilwin's chocolate shop and Highlands Smokehouse restaurants are a must. All in all, this is one of the best vacations spots we've ever been to.

This was the most perfect family vacation we have had in a while! We arrived late at night and when my daughter woke up in the morning and went outside she said "I think we are in heaven, we are up in the sky!". The view was perfect and cabin was great! We went mining for gems and I believe my husband and I had just as much if not more fun than the kids! We are planning on going back soon for a kid-free weekend just to relax and this place is perfect for that and then bring the kids back this summer to go rafting! Jeff and Tammy were so easy to work with as well!

Great Get-Away Cabin

Guest: Diane (Panama City, FL)
Date of Stay: 10/31/10 Review Submitted: 11/08/10

Loved the quiet area and the cabin. The cabin had everything we needed for our stay. We arrived too late to take advantage of the mining at the bottom of the hill though; they had closed for the winter. The town of Franklin was bigger than we expected, but very quaint. We took our dog, CC, and she loved it as well. Just as a side note, there were several neighboring dogs that were allowed to roam the neighborhood. We didn't have an issues with them, just thought we would mention it for those who love to walk like we do. Thanks for a great get-away.

What a great cabin in a great location. We loved watching the beautiful sunsets from the swing in the gazebo. The kitchen had all the amenities of home (and some even better). The perfect place if you are looking for seclusion with lots of peace and quiet. A very short drive down the mountain were loads of other things to do, including exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway and the quaint neighboring towns of Dillsboro, Franklin, and Waynesville. The weather couldn't have been more perfect when we were there. The owner was wonderful to work with and provided prompt reservation responses. Overall, a great experience to refocus on the important things in life. Marilyn and Paul

VACATION TO REMEMBER

We had a wonderful vacation in a very nice cabin, with a beautiful view. Jeff and Tammy were so great to work with, even in our short notice situation. The place was so private, our little baby (dog) had so much room outside to run and play without having to worry about her. The weather was just beautiful and the fall colors were the best we've ever seen. Thank you Jeff and Tammy for allowing us to have a vacation to remember.

Great vacation

Date of Stay: 03/31/09 Review Submitted: 04/07/09

The cabin was great. We had rainy weather and so we really got to enjoy the coziness of the place. When the rain stopped the view was fantastic. The location is very nice for those looking for real mountain experience. We have a 5 year old and a 12 year old, they both had a blast mining. We went to Mason Ruby and Saphire mine (about 20 minutes from the cabin). A real mining experience. The 12 year old loved finding real life treasures within all the mud. The 5 year old loved... the mud! Digging was his favorite part. We also visited the Cherokee mine right at the bottom of the mountain where the cabin is located. Also a very nice experience, a little bit less mudier, but still very authentic. The area is a treat on its own. The Cowee Valley is very beautiful! this is a great trip for families looking for some different experiences, contact with nature and not so much Nintendo DS time. The cabin was the perfect setting for the whole experience and after being so tired from mining, the wood burning fireplace was very enjoyable. Thanks

The pictures do NOT do this cabin justice! We enjoyed the location, the comfort and the ambience of the cabin itself. The owner was great to work with. Our rockhound daughter was the motivation behind this trip to Franklin and we can say no one was disappointed. The unsalted gem mines were an absolute blast and very close by. The town is easily accessible and will meet your needs. So much to do in the area withiin 1 hr's drive...we will be back.
