We stayed here for our annual retreat to Sturgis. It was easy to access and centrally located to all the activities. The cabin was clean and well maintained. I would reccomend this as a place to stay when visiting the Black Hills.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

I highly recommend this house for it's beautiful setting, as well as it's thoughtful layout. David and Cathy have poured themselves into this home and it shows. Very efficient use of space, well equipped kitchen, furniture works well for a family, etc. It's crowning glory is the deck. Magnificent is the word that comes to mind. It is HUGE! Two grills, outside furniture for relaxing or dining or reading or... You get the point! There are two nice size bedrooms and a loft type space with a ladder leading up to it. The loft would be good for children older than 5 and adults less than 60, if they are coordinated. If you like to walk or run, the setting is perfect! We love this area of South Dakota. Here are some of our favorite things to do: Custer State Park. Be sure and buy gummy bears or something similar so that you will have a treat for the "wild burros". Also a camera ready for when they hi jack your car. Buffalo may wander right by your car - be sure and have the windows down to hear them grumbling. Very cool. Needles Highway. Bad Lands. The town of Wall with a stop, of course, at Wall Drug. Strolling the streets in Rapid City. Favorite places to eat: Sugar Shack outside of Deadwood. (not too far from David's house.) FABULOUS hamburgers. Sit outside! The Corn Exchange in R. City - make reservations. This is a real treat! The owner is delightful and takes such joy in her restaurant. Beau Jo's Pizza - best pizza ever!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

Our family stayed at this gem! The drive from Rapid City to the cabin was filled with beauty. The cabin was cozy and spacious for us three and even more if you need. The wrap around deck provided beautiful sunsets and sunrises, besides the deer’s that would visit. The star gazing was amazing from the deck at night. We explored the Black Hills within walking distance from the cabin. The drives to the National Parks were within an hour from the cabin which was not an issue since the drive was amazing. Next time we will stay longer to spend more time just at the cabin. We spent one day at the cabin to explore nearby and it was filled with serenity. All communication was done through email. He provided wonderful customer service. Thank you David for sharing your gem!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thanks Julie. We're glad you enjoyed your time at Dragons' Lair as much as we do. It is tough to beat the nights spent on the deck! David
