Valhalla Cabin is located on a private ridge facing Rich Mountain, only four cabins in all. A short drive on a gravel road (less than a quarter mile) makes this location very convenient to get out and about. This secluded location also allows for year round views from both the front and back porch where one can enjoy the sunrise, sunset and when lucky the moon rise!
NEW in 2011- In May the GREAT ROOM got a 'New Look'. Now a warm color palette providing a cozier feel.
Then in October THE 'Hill' had a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT. Now the road is more like asphalt even though it still has a gravel finish. So no more lumps and bumps or dust in dry weather.
Valhalla Cabin has all the comforts of home and each bed is equipped with 3' Memory Foam for a truly great nights sleep. The wireless computer service has been updated again (Oct. 2012) and gets a FASTER and FULL signal.
A new toilet was installed in 2012, now a 'comfort height' style making it easier for those with knee, hip or other restrictions.
Also a ramp is now in place of the steps to gain access to the covered porch from the parking area.
The cabin is easy to get to, just a half mile from 'The 4 Lane' aka 515/76 however, one feels like they are miles away from civilization. A variety of activities are located nearby as well as many shops and restaurants.
The outdoor hot tub is on the covered porch so it can be enjoyed year round.
This is the perfect honeymoon or romantic getaway and fun for families too. The family dog is always welcome at no charge.

When you read the descriptions above, bank on them. Valhalla is a wonderful, rustic, cozy getaway. We were hoping for warmer weather (about 48 hours of snow flurries), but the ample supply of firewood chased away the chills. We did a little bit of cooking at the cabin, and everything we could have wanted utensil-wise was there. Comfy beds, spectacular views, and less than three minutes to the four-lane highway to get to Ellijay and Blue Ridge -- both of which have plenty of charm and nice antique stores. Every suggestion Helen made was golden, and we appreciated the dog friendliness. The box of treats addressed to our dog by name was a nice touch. Would I recommend Valhalla? Tough question. If I recommend it, we'd have competition for dates to return, and I'm not sure I want to do that. Perfect for a couples getaway, or a family with small children.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

My husband and I have been enjoying private rentals for more than 15 years. Only a very few times have we found a home that really calls us back. Helen and "Valhalla" have certainly done that for us. The cabin was so welcoming, from the dog treats, water bowls and pet towels for our Chihuahua to the firewood brought in for us. The bedrooms have shades that allowed us to sleep in on very comfortable beds and the great quality linens were a plus! Plenty of fluffy towels, paper products, reading lamps and seats for watching all the incredible views. "Valhalla" is truly a break for the weary. Helen even provided grocery store discount cards for Ellijay. And the local "fried pies" were awesome. I recommend all five flavors!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed at Valhalla for our honeymoon and it was just fantastic! We drove up from Florida, arriving after dark, and Helen had the lights on, the heat and hot tub on and treats set out for the dogs! After relaxing for a while we retreated to the awesome loft bed and slept comfortably all night. During the following days we went to some of Georgia's most beautiful state parks and towns and enjoyed many a hike. We were iced in one day- no problem because the view from the hot tub and the crackling fire kept our interests sated all day. THE DOGS LOVED IT! They loved running around the cabin and meeting Helen's dogs as well. If you have dogs and are looking for a getaway look no further. We certainly won't be! We're already planning our next visit. Thanks Helen!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We chose Valhalla for my birthday and a girl's weekend. It is quiet, secluded and everything anyone could want when choosing a place for reflection and relaxation. The cabin is very cozy and everything a cabin should be. It has a lot of character. The views are worth a million dollars alone. Helen makes the experience inviting - even leaving dog treats for our two Aussies that also had a wonderful time. This is one of the easiest and most economical vacation rentals I've ever worked with. Helen provides everything for you including firewood. Just bring your clothes and some food and that's all you'll need for your stay.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My girlfriend and I rented Helen's cabin for a weekend getaway. Helen was extremely helpful and friendly and allowed us to check out late Sunday afternoon. The cabin was clean and I must echo another reviewer's comment that the pictures do not do the cabin justice. The loft bedroon really is a neat feature. We enjoyed building fires and sitting in the hot tub. We will definitely come again and appreciate dealing with a caring owner versus a company managed property!!!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My friend and I stayed here for a short weekend getaway. We had an amazing time! We didn't ever want to leave the cabin because it was so warm and cozy. We made ourselves venture out and do some of Helen's suggestions and it made for a phenomenal weekend. I will definitely be visiting Valhalla again!!!Did you find this review helpful? Valhalla Cabin was much, much more than I expected. Heavenly view is the perfect description from every angle. The cabin has every comfort and Helen, Violet and Lindy were the greatest hosts to us and our Aussie. We will return again and again in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: My name is Helen, and I have owned the cabin next to Valhalla since 1989 and would come up on weekends. I was lucky enough to move here full time with my Bernese Mountain Dogs (from Atlanta) in 2005. This private ridge is very unique for it supports year round views to the east and the west.
Why the Owner Chose Ellijay:
I love this location so much that when Valhalla Cabin was available for purchase, I could not pass up the opportunity to own the cabin next door to mine, about 150 feet away.
At first the idea was to have a guest house and then decided to enter the Vacation Rental market in 2004.
I have met so many nice folks over the years and I love sharing my knowledge and love of the area.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Very private but only 10 minuets to Ellijay and 15 minuets to Blue Ridge.
The Fantastic Views are always beautiful and change from season to season, and from morning to night.
The Full Moon Rise coming up from behind Rich Mountain is my Favorite time up here. Just imagine while sitting in the hot tub or relaxing in a racking chair and then you see a glow, then right before your eyes the moon peeping through the trees and then as its continues to rise the sky lights up-its just magical.
