Why visit Orosi? The Orosi Valley is a landscape of topical hues. The rainforest of Tapanti and the Alto Cedral Cloud Forest paint a background of various shades of green, teeming with wildlife. Every turn of the road provides a new diversity of colors and terrain. Located south of Cartago, the Orosi Valley is a true jewel. Famous for its beautiful views, colonial churches, coffee farms, white water rivers, hot springs and Lake Cachí, the Orosi Valley and surrounding towns are like a birthday present, waiting to be opened. The small quaint villages offer a unique location where you can relax and enjoy a real slice of Costa Rican life. During coffee picking season, September through January, the valley comes to life. The pickers can be heard singing and talking in the fields as they pick the worlds best coffee.
It is easy to book activities such as: guided local tours, mountain biking, horse back riding, hiking, water rafting, and other interesting activities to keep active during the day. For detailed information on local tours, visit our web site.
Orosi Valley Self Guided Tours
The Orosi Valley and surrounding areas have many different tours, which can take up to a week to see all of the local attractions. Of the top 20 things to do in Costa Rica, four are in or near the Orosi Valley, numbers six, seven, eight and nine.

Steve & Nancy's property is amazing! The rental villa is first class all the way, and a huge bargain. A couple can have tons of space in a private house surrounded by endless greenery, birdsongs, and a spectacular mountain view. It is a very peaceful place, perfect for thinking, writing, and recharging the batteries. It is a very romantic spot as well. Even though they are totally secluded, the city of Cartago is only 15 minutes away, and there are big supermarkets a 10 minute drive. I went with Steve & Nancy to a great farmers' market, and they took me on a couple of their excursions around the countryside. This part of Costa Rica is not touristy at all so you get a feel for how the Ticos really live. They have turned their property into a fabulous botanical garden with nice paths to walk around on. Nancy has spent years planting and planning one of the most gorgeous landscapes you'll see in Costa Rica. They can also rent their car out, which is great because there are some good hikes, bike tours, and river rafting in the area.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

It is hard to think of something that hasn't already been said: The amenities in the cabin villa, the graciousness of the hosts, the view, the gardens make this a great place to stay. Thank you Steve and Nancy for making our time with you a very memorable one. If we ever pass through the Orosi Valley again we will make sure it is when your villa is available, we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We immediately felt welcome at the location. Steve went out of his way to pick us up from the bus and take us shopping for basics. He brought bread and cinnamon rolls to us that he baked him self. Both Steve and Nancy were exceptional hosts and provided wonderful recommendations around activities and restaurants. We spend much time on their porch visiting as well as getting a private tour of their beautiful botanical gardens and farm. We felt like we were in paradise with amazing territorial views. The photos on the web site were accurate right down to the friendly pair of dogs that we thought about kidnapping. I would definatly recommend to family and friends and plan on a return visit. Thank you Steve and Nancy...Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

My partner and I are expats in San Jose and visited this property for a quiet weekend getaway. It really is an excellent choice. We loved the huuuuge comfy bed and the outdoor jacuzzi. The only times we left the house all weekend were to go for walks on the property's lovely trails. Birds of all sorts could be observed from the balcony, and yummy food was easily prepared with the well-stocked kitchen. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Steve and Nancy are exceptional hosts. This was our third stay in their villa and were treated like royalty. We could not ask for a better experience in Costa Rica. The views are fantastic and Nancy's extensive gardens invite birds and butterflies in abundance. Steve has so much enthusiasm and information about Costa Rica and both are a joy to be around. The villa was very clean and well-maintained and an outdoor kitchen is in progress. We feel so safe and secure and certainly cared for when we stay in the villa that Steve and Nancy so lovingly provide. The place is very comfortable place to stay. It had beautiful views from the veranda and nice trails to walk. The vegetation was so diverse. It had gorgeous blue morph butterflies flying around. They had pretty yellow oropendulums flying around and hummingbirds. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The property was clean and well maintained. The listing photos were accurate but, there is nothing like being there. The temperature during August was wonderful and cool. After being in Texas the temperature was a wonderful relief. I did not want to leave. Maggie, the black lab, the greeting committee was so friendly and loving. It was like being at home.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This is my 3rd review and nothing has changed. The view is breathtaking, the villa is well-equipped and beautiful, and the hospitality is so welcomed in a foreign country. I'm so sorry we didn't get to see Nancy, however, Steve's strawberry/mango bread made up for it.....lol. It was soooooo good. I'm already planning next summer's trip and this will definitely be one of the places we stay again. Just love it! Steve, please give Maggie and Lola big doggie hugs from us. We love those dogs!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We stayed on your lovely property, August 7 and 8th. We had a wonderful stay. Steve made us feel welcomed and we enjoyed our visit with him. We were sorry Nancy was in the states and we didn't get to meet her. We fell in love with Maggie and Lola, the dogs. They were alot of company and made us feel like we were at home. We already miss them both. The accommodations could not have been better. What a beautiful place to relax and visit. We would love to return. The views are breath taking. The climate is perfect. Cool day and night.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.
