Silver Beach Cove is a sanctuary from the workaday world! Settle in to a relaxing stay in this lovely three bedroom, two and-a-half bath house (and outdoor shower!) All rooms have vaulted ceilings, and gorgeous views!

Nestled on a secluded cove, we are surrounded by woods and farmland. Bay breezes and nature embrace you on the wrap-around screen porch and back deck. Living areas center around a river rock gas fireplace. Enjoy your coffeecake while watching trees rustle and egrets fishing for their breakfast. Just outside are fresh herbs growing to supply your gourmet needs.

The master bedroom suite has a queen-sized bed and a soaking tub under garden windows. Other sleeping spaces include another queen bed in the second BR, and a double in the third BR. Extra sheets, pillows, and quilts are provided.

Extra-wide doorways and all-one-level floor plan accomodate wheelchair use gracefully. Your well-mannered pet is welcome, and a 'petdoor' allows easy access to the screen porch (ask about pet and baby arrangements). Crib, high chair, and stroller are available.

There are many activities and delightful restaurants within a short drive from Silver Beach Cove (we'll leave you a list of our favorites), AND crabbing, biking, and canoe/kayaking equipment provided on site. But we bet you'll just want to settle in-—it is one of the most beautiful, tranquil places on the East Coast!

Charming cottage located on beautiful cove, the perfect place to quietly celebrate a milestone birthday. The owners welcomed us with a bottle of wine from a local winery & chocolates on our pillows. A very nice touch! The home itself had everything we & our dog needed to be comfortable, a vast array of amenities from a well stocked/outfitted kitchen to book cases with a wide array of videos & reading material. We loved the openness of the home & the fireplace in the great room was wonderful considering the chilly weekend. The back of the house has a wide porch, with a screened in area that overlooks the cove. We hoped to be able to take advantage of the kayak & canoe, however, the weather wasn't in our favor. We absolutely plan on coming back so we have that adventure to look forward on our next trip! Thanks so much for sharing your cottage!

Loved the home with all of the extras. Much nicer than a cottage. Everything owner described was true. Owner does everything possible to make you feel welcomed and "at home". Porch and outdoor shower are truly wonderful features. The dock is a great place for extra sunning and dunking your toes in the water.

Very relaxing comfortable home. We spent most of our time outside, even when it rained. Kids caught fish and crabs from dock. Took kayak and canoe out, made smores at the fire in the evening and enjoyed playing family games. We loved one so much, had to buy it on our return home. Our dog was in heaven - loved the water and room to run. We tried the shrimp stand that owner recommended and it was fantastic - wish we could get this at home. We took a day trip to see the ponies and went to a nearby beach. Owners were very helpful and easy to work with. This is a chance to slow down and enjoy just being together.

We visited this beautiful house the second time this year on July 4th week and it was as great as a couple years ago. This time we brought our friends who heard a lot of stories about our previous visit and even after we told them everything they were surprised to find such a secluded quiet and friendly property. Beautiful views, relaxing and peaceful place! The house is gorgeous, you will find everything there. We will definitely come again!!! Thank you Karen and Don.

We stayed in this lovely house with our three children aged 20, 19 and 15. Really enjoyed paddling around in their canoe and kayak. The kids caught crabs in the owner's pots right off the dock. We also brought our own floats/rafts and used them in the cove. Taking the ferry from Onancock to Tangier Island was a nice day trip. My husband and son also went on a 4 hour fishing charter in the Bay out of Cheriton with Miss Jennifer Charter Fishing. They caught enough croaker and trout to feed our family that night. We brought some of our bikes and also used their beach cruisers. It's easy to ride around the area and you get different views of the water. Karen, the owner, is very helpful and welcoming. They keep a huge collection of movies in the house and the kitchen was well stocked. All paper products were supplied. If you like a more quiet destination, I recommend it!

My family had the honor of staying at Silver Beach Cove for 9 days over the Memorial Day weekend and following week. The pictures shown on-line do not do the place justice. The house is nicer than expected, and fits the criteria of a "home away from home". Inside is very spacious, bedrooms are comfortable and kitchen is more than adequate for a week long stay. The six of us (plus 2 dachshunds) thoroughly enjoyed all the amenities at the Cove, to include the kayaks, horseshoes, fire burn pit "which resembles the getting voted off of the TV Show "Survivor" (LOL). The outside, screened in porch is great for all to sit outside and watch the sunset or just time pass by. There is a 2-person swing on site that is great for relaxing, etc. One word of caution for using the Kayaks--please view the clock in the kitchen that has the tide tables on it, and make sure you get the tides right--otherwise if you go out at low tide--you may have to walk/pull the kayak thru a few low points. The outdoor shower was a godsend for all of us, allowed ease of rinsing off prior to entering house, etc. There is an over abundance of on-hand DVDs to view during your down time. Outdoor grill was utilized numerous times, and is very nice. Overall a great stay at Silver Beach Cove and would recommend this to anyone looking to "get away from the hustle and bustle of major tourist traps"

We enjoyed the quiet setting and the well-equipped house. My dog, son and I enjoyed wading in the water at low tide. Unfortunately, I couldn't try out the canoe or kayak due to an injury. There were some very nice touches in the kitchen, like the large deep sink, which made washing up or using large pots easier -- First place I've stayed where I didn't wish I'd brought some kitchen gadget I needed. It was a busy day on the road if more than one car passed by. When we first arrived, there was some minor generator noise on a property across the road, but you couldn't hear it in or behind the house; and it stopped that evening anyway. There is a small working farm on the road, which the Silver Beach houses circle. It seemed to be low-key. One of the properties on the other side of the circle has a horse behind an electric fence, so keep your dog on a leash if you walk by this one. The horse seems quite mellow but you don't want the dog to scare the horse or be hurt by the wire. The only very mild complaint I have is that there computer needs updating (but who goes on vacation to check email anyway) and you can't get cel phone service inside -- just go out to the road and it's fine. But that's not a complaint -- I loved being away from it all.

We are two couples in our 70's and have been friends for a very long time. One couple lives in the northeast U.S. and the other lives in the south. Silver Beach Cove was the perfect location for us to vacation together and relax. We had a wonderful week even with cloudy weather and rain. The cottage is very spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. It is very well equiped and we enjoyed using the bicycles, canoe and kayak. We found plenty of good restaurants including the Exmore Diner. This is a great get-a-way location.

We chose Silver Beach Cove for our annual Girl’s weekend and couldn’t have been happier. From the moment we arrived, we were drawn in by the beautiful home and the awesome scenery. The views, both from indoors, the screened porch and deck were spectacular. Our stay was in early October and while the foliage had not yet changed color yet, the reflection of the trees was beautiful….can only imagine how it would look with the fall colors reflecting on the water. We saw egret and an osprey (luckily we had someone in our group who was expert at spotting). As we sat on the deck with our morning coffee & tea, we all dreamed of what it would be like to be retired and live in this house and to be able to do this every day. How awesome it would be to see the changing of all four seasons here! The house itself offered everything to make our stay comfortable. There were plenty of towels and linens and we really appreciated the staples provided in the kitchen (spices, refrigerator condiments, flour, sugar, tea, pots/pans, paper products, etc.) The owner also provided useful information and recommendations for the area. While we did not try Henrietta’s bread, we did have a meal at the Exmore Diner (yummy). We only explored the area slightly since we wanted to make the most of the time we had at the property so we cooked the rest of our meals there. It is obvious the owner, Karen, put much thought and time into making sure her guests would have everything they need. I have rented several other vacation properties through VRBO and have found that not all owners provide the same personal level of care. I definitely hope to return to this property in the near future.

My husband and I, along with a few friends and our dog, spent 10 wonderful days at Silver Beach Cove. The home and setting are quite conducive to relaxation. Karen, the owner with whom we had the most contact, was extremely gracious and informative. We especially appreciated how pet-friendly she and the house are. The listing accurately reflects the amenities, but the pictures do not do it justice. Not only is the home clean and well-maintained, it is extremely comfortable and well out-fitted for time indoors or out. We made use of: kayak, canoe, bikes, fireplace, pancake griddle, baking supplies, movies, internet access, beach within walking distance, beach within paddling distance, and outdoor shower. We also brought a small sailing dinghy that we were able to launch from the dock. Perhaps the best feature of the home is the gracious screen porch. We spent hours on it every day and took most meals outside. (We enjoyed local seafood, corn, and peaches and regretted not making an order for homemade bread with a local woman.) A highlight was seeing a bald eagle circling over the cove. We also spent several minutes watching a great horned owl perched on a mailbox on Prettyman Circle. When we could bring ourselves to leave the porch, we enjoyed several outings. The Exmore Diner had great food at bargain prices, and we also enjoyed lunch on the water in Onancock. We always find browsing the Blue Crow antique mall a treat, and this year we made it to Exmore's town-wide yardsale. All in all, it was a delight, and I'd highly recommend this property.

About the owner: As two middle-aged teachers, we built this cottage to be our future retirement heaven. Until that time, we rent to folks who turn out to be amazingly similar to us: outdoorsy, like reading more than watching TV, enjoy chatting, padding, and drinking homebrew beer, and LOVE to eat!

Why the Owner Chose Silver Beach:
When we cross the Cheapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, our stresses are left behind in the city, and years fall away. Eastern Shore has been protected by the CBBT toll, and a slower way of life is here on the Shore. We avoid chain restaurants and instead shop at the many quirky mom&pop places, vegetable stands, seafood-from-an-icechest on the back of a-truck style of life.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Snowy egrets winging down the cove, profound peace, solitude, a feeling of connection with a larger sense of wholeness; giant oak trees and the rippling gold of winter wheat across the front field. Shifting light creates translucent colors 'painted' across the cove at dawn & sunset. Even lightning storms, glimpsed across the Bay, make this an almost magically calming place.
