Why the Owner Chose Sugar Mountain
We chose this area for snow skiing and the beautiful sites that the High Country offers. There are several ski resorts close by and the largest one in NC is across the street "Sugar Mountain". Grand Father Mountain is less than a 10 minute drive and it has unbelievable views. Grand Father Mountain also has a mile high swinging bridge and wildlife habitats to include bears, deer, and all kinds of other animals.

Location, Location, Location it is here. Across the street from Sugar Mountain. 5 Minute drive to downtown Banner Elk. 10 Minute drive to Grand Father Mountain and several other hiking trails and water falls in the nearby area.
My favorite restaurant in Banner Elk is Sorrento's which is downtown. After a wonderful meal, I love the hot tub on a cold night. Listening to the sound of the blowing of snow on Sugar Mountain and soaking in the hot tub is very relaxing.
Lots to see here. Great views! Worth the money and trip to check it out. You can make a day out of this. If you are up to it some serious hiking here also.

My wife and I are Realtors in the Charlotte area. We love the mountains and getting away. Often we leave Charlotte and head to the mountains. We are always amazed at the sights and drop of temperature in a two and a half hour drive.

This is the place. If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful and intimate condo, then look no further. If you're going to Sugar Mountain, it's just across the street. Beech and Appalachian Mountains are close as well. This one bedroom has it all. For the four of us, my wife and two children (ages 8 and 10), it was great. The living room with sleeper sofa, dining area and kitchen are on the second floor and the bedroom and bath are upstairs. The hot-tub, just outside of the dining area, was perfect, after a long day of skiing. It's about 5 minutes to downtown Banner Elk and about 30 minutes to Boone. In Banner Elk, Zuzda (make a reservation) and Bayou Smokehouse and Grill, were two of our dinner spots and both were exceptionally good. Enjoy and have a great time.

Quiet and Cosy. We stayed Thursday and Friday nights and really enjoyed the Gas Logs and Hot Tub. The unit is great for a romantic long weekend. Clif was great to work with!

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend away in Boone. This place is about 15-20 min from Boone. We really enjoyed the fireplace and the hot tub. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook in or heat leftovers. We had a private, very clean, quiet, and comfortable accommodation at a better price than most hotels in the area. Cliff was great to work with, even allowing us a late checkout. We would definitely stay here again!

I would definitely recommend the chalet as a great place to stay. The location is great and it is a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay. I truly enjoyed myself at Sugar Mountain and the chalet just further added to how much I appreciated the stay. When I return I will definitely try to stay at the same chalet, because Clif and his wife do a great job with the upkeep and communication and their prices are great.-Lauren
