Antico Podere is located in the renowned Gallo Nero Chianti region, in Tuscany, right in the middle between Siena and Florence. It stands in the largest safeguarded cypress-grove in Europe, surrounded by the typical hilly landscape which makes for a feeling of peace and tranquillity.
During the day and throughout all seasons, guests can admire a continuous colour variation of the landscape. Antico Podere is situated 400 m above sea level and from there you can enjoy a unique view on the Val d'Elsa area and S. Gimignano An unpaved road of 1.6 km leads to the property.
Antico Podere is a traditional rural Chianti farmhouse, which has been carefully restored, retaining its original features. The restoration work and interior design project were entrusted to well-known local interior designer, who carefully selected suggestive colors, styles and décor to fill the rural house with a refined yet comfortable atmosphere.
THE BEDROOMS
Seven double rooms have been created within the house, some of them with independent entrance from the garden, all finely furnished with a stylish and comfortable interior décor. Each bedroom offers guests all the modern conveniences such as satellite TV, telephone, mini safe and a spacious ensuite bathroom. Three bedrooms have a little private terrace equipped with table and chairs, one has its private little garden in front of the room.
One bedroom has an additional sofa bed, suitable for a single person or two children. Another bedroom is large enough to place a single bed. A maximum of 16 people can be accommodated. Each bedroom window (not the glass doors) has fly screens.
All materials used to restore the building, as well as those chosen to furnish both the inside and the outside of the house, are the highest quality available. The rooms are furnished with double beds with wrought iron bed frame (some are canopied double beds), antique wardrobe or wall closet, and small lounge area with sofa bed or armchair. Main color schemes: beige, antique rose pink, and sand. All curtains were painted by hand and go perfectly well with the quilts patterns.
THE BATHROOMS
Each bedroom has its own private bathroom. All bathrooms were restored using special materials and the walls have been treated by specialists with a particular technique which was already in use by the Romans in ancient history. All bathrooms are furnished with a marble table with integrated basin. Five have shower enclosure, two have an old style bathtub.
LIVING AREA IN THE HOUSE
On the ground floor there is a living room with cosy fireplace, a bar, a sofa and several armchairs. The fully professional and high-tech kitchen is equipped with six-ring gas hob, oven, large fridge, dishwasher, electric cutter, toaster, american coffee machine and a large stainless steel table for preparing meals in the centre of the room. In the dining room you can join together around one large oval table or you can divide your group as there a seven smaller tables as well.
OUTDOOR
The lush grounds surrounding the farmhouse are perfect for relaxing outdoors. In the gardens you will find large well-kept lawns, fragrant rosemary bushes, many different kind of flowers and shady trees. You can enjoy barbecues on the panoramic terrace.
THE LOGGIA
At of the panoramic side of the house there is a spacious loggia looking onto the garden and the open landscape. The loggia in terra cotta and typical exposed wooden beam ceiling has been decorated and furnished in a simple yet elegant manner. Here you can enjoy outdoor meals - the breezy room is filled with a magical atmosphere every evening, as the sun sets in the summer skies.
THE "PICCOLA CORTE" (also called "La Piazzetta")
Tucked into a corner with small café tables and muted lighting, the Piccola Corte is perfect for a drink after a day in the pool.
THE SWIMMING POOL
You can relax in the refreshing waters of an wonderful swimming pool while enjoying the view of the vineyard and the surrounding valley. The structure measures 8 x 16 meters and was built entirely of stone. The water completely fills the depth of the pool and spills over the edge, while a small stone waterfall has been built in one corner of the pool. The pleasant sound of water tumbling over the rocks makes lounging around the pool even more relaxing. Also, inside the swimming pool you can relax while seated on a stone bench equipped with hydro-massage plant. You will find sun loungers on the sun terrace, a small gazebo with fridge for cold summer drinks and an outside shower provides additional coolness.
SERVICES IN THE HOUSE
The owner (a young family of four people) lives in a detached stonehouse at a distance of approximately. 20 m. The friendly, English-speaking owner will do everything possible to help you to enjoy your stay without intruding your privacy. Upon previous request directly to the property owner several extra services are available: you can have a breakfast buffet and skilfully prepared local dishes for dinner - prepared in your kitchen and served in your house.
Also first shopping and extra maid service are available upon previous request. Last but not least: the owner can organise cooking classes in your house. For further information regarding breakfast, dinners, first shopping, extra maid service and cooking classes you can email the owner directly once you have received your travel documents (two month prior arrival).
Parking is available. A small to medium size dog is only allowed by prior agreement (if allowed, only leashed outside the house). A friendly dog (German Shepherd) of the owner comes with the property. Two hours house cleaning of the living areas on the ground floor (not bedrooms) on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday is included in the rental price. On Wednesday's and Saturday's bath and bed linen are changed. |
