VILLA CHUPAROSA - has a zoologist host, a world class expert on tropical animals & plants. Guests can choose complimentary morning nature walks. We have designed several 3 hr walking nature excursions, such as "Sea Coast & Esturaries" and one exciting full day excursion to San Blas that many guests claim is the highlight of their vacation. Our 'jungle garden' is a haven for 100 beautiful native & migratory birds, many butterfly species, plus many other small non-poisonous creatures. We know of no other resort property in this whole coastal area that can claim the above. Further up to the creat of our hill, you look down on a beautiful agricultural valley, with Sierra Madre mountains in the near distance.
This completely enclosed compound w/high walls has secure parking, two separate guest houses, owner's hacienda (in residence during winter months), courtyard with pool, outdoor furniture,lush gardens & many potted flowers. The 'palapa' has breathtaking views of the entire crescent shaped Jaltemba Bay, its surrounding verdant foothills, beaches,the Pacific, & the distant Sierra Madre mountains. AND unobstructed cooling breezes off the Pacific.
'LA CASA GRANDE': A LARGE TWO BEDROOM vacation home with a double bed in each bedroom. An alcove off the living room has a settee for a smaller person. A portable crib or playpen is also available. Large airy colorful rooms have high ceilings w/large 4 speed fans & lights. Quality furnishings. One large bathroom has a shelf unit & 5 ft rod for towels. The back porch has clothes lines for hanging wet items.
'LA CASITA': A large separate studio for 1-2 persons, private location. Two twin beds convert to a king and leads to a large pretty bathroom. Delightful Mexican decor. Excellent natural ventilation & 2 lg 4 speed ceiling fans. The kitchenette is completely outfitted - see picture. It looks out on courtyard gardens, the Pacific & a squeaky clean pool.
We feature OUTDOOR LIVING choices for maximum exposure to an ideal balmy winter climate. Each guest house has choices for dining with an outside table w/oversize umbrella & lounges plus an upper covered 'palapa' with tables & cushioned lounges.
We provide detailed info on dining out, shopping, & local events. Our villa is located in La Penita de Jaltemba, a town adjoining Rincon de Guayabitos on Jaltemba Bay.
Pamper your senses with BREATHTAKING PANORAMIC VIEWS our guests claim are "beyond beautiful": Sunsets that fill the sky, foothills & cliffs, beaches, coves, valleys and mountains surround us, and all are visible from our raised covered deck. You see them as you walk down our hill. DINE under the stars in the courtyard or up on the upper deck with the twinkling lights of the shrimp boats and villages on Jaltemba Bay.
PERFECT WINTER WEATHER November thru April, the DRY season. You can depend on balmy Pacific breezes, sunny skies, and a temperature low of 62F (17C) nights & up to 80F (27C) at noon. Our villa is on a hill with no obstacles to ocean breezes - always 5-10F degrees cooler on a hot day than complexes on the ocean or in the shopping center.
THE BEACHES: Several miles of varied beaches span this crescent bay. Walk less than 1/2 km to the Pacific, or take a $2 cab ride.
LA PENITA is a friendly seaside town where you can experience firsthand authentic Mexican culture - A wonderful variety of fresh produce & outstanding seafood at unbelievably low prices. Walk 2 blocks to a family 'mini-super'. The Thursday AM market in the church square is a MUST with its local produce, indigenous natives in costume, and Artisans from many countries alongside the local craftsmen. LA PENITA has a bank & ATM, laundry at the foot of our hill, cambios, internet cafes, specialty shops, discos, & many restaurants - these resources are not available in most other towns of the area. What a treat to be 'modern' yet be where hens still roam with their chicks and men can be seen riding donkeys along the roadside, & roosters greet the dawn.
COLORFUL FIESTAS - La Penita is the only town outside Puerto Vallarta, on this long coastal stretch, that celebrates ALL the Mexican fiestas including the 5 day "CARNIVAL" just before Lent: street dancing, mariachis, parades, rodeos. On Mexican holidays, listen to the bands & watch the fireworks from our deck!
SAFE WALKING - This area is nearly crime free, usually a TV or bicycle theft. You see so much more walking than looking out a car window. Enjoy the night sights & activities without worry.
EASY ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE - An excellent doctor is 3 blocks away. Several pharmacies, dentists, clinic & lab are within .3 mile.
EXCELLENT TRANSPORTATION - (1) AIRPORT PICKUP: We can make arrangements for your arrival or departure in a luxury super-van w/bi-lingual driver for $60 that accommodates up to 6 persons & luggage to/from our villa (2) OR take a taxi to the bus terminal near the airport for $16 (3) La Penita has its own bus terminal - a trip to Puerto Vallarta is 60 pesos. There's a lineup of local 'combis' & many taxis. Public travel is easy & inexpensive.

- Linens Provided: The maid changes all linens twice a week. She also cleans the bathroom, mops all floors, & dusts on those days.
- Off Street Parking: Secured parking inside a high walled compound. The concrete driveway accommodates two cars in addition to Jerry's car. We often park on the street side, for convenience, & have never been vandalized. It's a quiet neighborhood.

- Shared Pool: Both guesthouses share this large swimming pool which can be entered at either end. The depth is 6 ft. in the center, and 3 ft. at each end. It is kept scruptuously clean but there is no chlorine odor such as that of a public pool.

- Full Kitchen: Everything you could want right down t a lime squeezer. The refrigerators are large, self defrost, with a separate door for the freezer. 4 burner gas cook tops. Toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, microwave, cutting board, wine glasses, etc.
- Cooking Utensils Provided
- Refrigerator: Large two door, self defrost, special thermometer so you can keep the temperature in the ideal range.
- Microwave: La Casa Grande has a large microwave.
- Catering Available: A Mexican friend will cook in our kitchen and serve on our veranda OR dine at her house, meet her family & animals. A wonderful way to experience Mexican home life first hand.
- Outdoor Features
- Gas/Electric BBQ Grill: A large commercial grill with flat cast iron cooking surface. Great for fish, shrimp, stir fry. Two separate gas burners. On wheels to roll out from the cabana.
- Deck/Patio: Tiles & cement pave surface on entire inner courtyard except for garden in center and potted trees & flowers on entire outer rim.
- Gazebo: Mexicans call this a "palapa" and is usually on the top of a home. Our palapa is one story up from the inner courtyard, giving a stunning view of the ocean, the mountains (Sierra Madre) around us, jungled foothills ending at the bay's edge, beaches, fishing boats, (at night the shrimpboats are lit up like Christmas trees!). AND it's a great place to watch our resident iguana family of five. Being on what was a foothill, we get unobstructed ocean breezes while dining or relaxing in our palapa.
- View/Location
- Beach View: Villa Chuparosa is located over half way up what was once a foothill. We can see over the trees and rooves to long stretches of white beach, and magnificent views of the total bay and its two main small towns of Rincon de Guayabitos and La Penita de Jaltemba. A river separates them.
- Ocean View: We view the mountain range that protects the bay as well as the open Pacific. It is rare to have fog or rain during the months of November through April.
- Water View
- Mountain View: The Sierra Madre mountain range is in view behind us. Walk to the top of our street and look down upon an agricultural valley and over to one of the ranges of the Sierra Madre. It looks like mountains protecting the bay but these are really 'headlands' or jungled (usually) foothills that go down to the ocean's edge.
- Communications
- Telephone: The owners' residence is built like the old fashioned haciendas. There is a telephone which converts to a remote so you can have privacy out on the veranda. Incoming calls only. There are public telephones on every block in La Penita's business boulevard called "La Avenida".
- Broadband Internet: We deliver any emails sent to your name. There are several internet cafes on "La Avenida" and one of these has 3 pay phone booths.
- WiFi (Wireless Internet): Our computer is wireless, so if you come up to the veranda of Libby & Jerry's hacienda, you can plug in your computer at either end. Just call out 'hello' & what you need so we know a guest is present and why.
- Other Amenities
- The pool can be heated for $12 daily, minimum of 7 days. Give at least one day's notice as we need that much time to bring the pool temperature up. We provide some pool accessories for fun or relaxing. A half bath is next to the pool so no made dashes to your guesthouse are necessary. You can reserve patio torch lights for nighttime dining in the courtyard. Special area to hang wet towels & clothing is available to both units.
