    • What a truly memorable and delightful holiday for the Brink family. Our son, daughter-in-law and two small grandsons came with us from Tallahassee. As we arrived at Wildacre and drove onto the property, it was as if we'd stepped back in time in a classic movie. The setting is simply lovely and tranquil. The photos on the VRBO site do NOT do it justice. When our three-yr-old grandson got out of the van, he walked over to the porch steps, threw open his arms and said, "Welcome to the mountains!!!" The welcome baskets of goodies were so appreciated. What a nice touch!!!! We were very comfortable in the cabin and felt as though it was "our" place. The front screened porch was sooo relaxing, especially with the creek running by. I picked rosemary from the English garden and added it to my roasted red potato recipe one night. We used the tomatoes from the garden for salad and ate a few strawberries. Yummy!!! There was even a vintage high chair for Oliver, our 12-month grandson. Hearing the rain on the tin roof a few nights was so nostalgic, to say the least. What fun to use the fire pit--three times during the week!!! Hot dogs and S'mores were the best!!! We took the plastic chairs and sat in the creek to cool our feet. Of course, the boys LOVED the creek and skipped stones over it. The week was such a blessing in every way. We will plan to come back to Wildacre again in the future. With all the very tall trees on the hills that completely surround the cabin, we can only imagine what a fall weekend experience would be!! Thanks, Judy and Steve, for allowing to share in your little Georgia Mountains' paradise!!

    • The turn off onto a little winding gravel drive through the canopy of trees and flowering bushes brought us to the property gate beside a creek. From the front gate a short drive on the gravel path beside the creek opened to a beautiful mesmerizing meadow surrounded by rapidly rising ridges with the creek running along one side and back in front of a cute captivating country cottage. All we could say was "WOW"!! Inside the cabin we found all kinds of fabulous things to ooh and ahh about, way too many to list here, you will have to go and check them all out for yourself. The first day was spent just getting acquainted with the cabin and it's surroundings. The mountain creek was cool, inviting and wonderful for wading and splashing. Around 2 am there arose such a clatter we sprang out of bed to see what was the matter!! A little (well, maybe a medium size) Georgia black bear decided to stop by to say, Hi. He (or she) managed to get one of the lids off of the metal trash cans and was having a blast beating up the can and the plastic liner inside! After spotting us watching from the kitchen, it just stood up, looked around, gave the can another swat and wandered off upstream into the woods. Now that was neat!! We found out later that the bear had gone up to the vegetable garden for a snack and had eaten most of the corn patch. All too soon we had to say goodbye as we reluctantly tossed our travel stuff back into the trunk and pointed the car toward Interstate 75 to play concrete cowboy for the eight hour reality check back to Orlando, FL. Good thing we had some great times and things to talk about on the way home! We would highly recommend this cute country cabin to anyone that enjoys nature, like: flowing rocky streams, secluded areas in the woods away from traffic and people. As city slickers, we had a terrific time trying to tame nature. Don & Janet The Florida Wingnuts

    • This was our 2nd stay at Wildacre (5/1/09). What a fantastic place. Beautiful, quite (except for creek), lots to do (if you must do something), solitude, and wonderful hosts. Hiking, running, wading, relaxing. Five star plus! Can't wait to go back in the Fall.

    • Wow!--This place is fantastic. I am an avid mountain biker and have traveled to many places throughout the southeast to ride and race. I like to try to find great places to stay in the mountains and this one is a real gem. This cabin has an absolute perfect setting. It is very private and sits right on a perfect mountain stream. The owners attention to detail is second to none. It is like having your own state park with a perfect cabin and a plasma tv if you desire. Ok - I'm stopping there, hopefully not too many people will find out about it, but if you do you will be delighted.

    • "Wildacre" is wonderful. My wife, my son, and I rented the cabin this past Friday and Saturday nights - an early birthday present for me - and all three of us were taken by the beauty of the surroundings and the coziness and cleanliness of the cabin itself. We enjoyed the very scenic path alongside the stream, and we hiked a few of the surrounding hills. The cabin, while rustic in design, boasts modern amenities like a security system, full kitchen, and satellite television. (The latter, I am happy to say, is no match, in entertainment value, for the natural environment the cabin rests within.) The owners have taken apparent pleasure in providing for guests a very well thought-out, inspired, decor. What remains most firmly pressed into my memory about the weekend is how beautifully the cabin and an acre or so of cultivated land are snuggled into the hills. Here's to the owners; Thank you for sharing Wildacre with us. Sincerely, David

Dear Steve & Judy, We can't believe our stay is nearly over. We have had such a good time. We have enjoyed the hammock, walking in the woods and along the creek. My husband has done well without the Internet (Ha, Ha). We had everything we needed. My two favorite things were the floors and screened in porch. Well, there is a third thing - the floor of the shower. Oh, fourth thing - your blue themed dishes in the kitchen. We would have loved to stay longer, and hope to come back in the future. While there are plenty of things to do in the area, we were anxious to get back to our little "sanctuary." You all must have a most wonderful house not to live in this "little bit of heaven." Thank you for letting us visit, Jimmie & Diana, Tennessee

Judy & Steve, You're right! this place is a bit of heaven on earth. Gracie wants to know why we have to leave & can't just stay here forever. It seems you all have thought of everything & what gracious & talented hosts you are. We took pictures in the flower garden; Gracie has lived in the stream, played badminton; hiked the trails, made s'mores & roasted wienies! We have just taken it all in. What a desperately needed reprieve for an overworked pediatrician. We can't thank you enough for your hospitality. We are already planning our next trip & have a list of friends to share your secret with :). God's blessing to you, Lisa, Mike & Gracie

9/23/06 Wildacre is a little piece of heaven! We've never seen such a beautiful setting. Our girls had so much fun playing in the creek and woods. We had campfires every night and even cooked an entire supper over the fire one night! We love the perennial garden - I love all your unique pottery and artwork in the cabin. The beds are super comfy and soft! We can't wait to visit Wildacre again! Joy, Barry & Girls (Lilli, Mary Allen & Nora - ages 8, 6 & 3)
