What a wonderful vacation spot this is! The Lauberhorn offers splendid views of the Jungfrau valley. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and accommodating. Lauterbrunnen is a quiet, beautiful place, even during the busy ski season. We traveled by train from Vienna and found the apartment after only a 5 min walk from the station. The Lauterbrunnen train station allows access to the many ski areas without having to stay in expensive and congested ski resorts in the area. Also, with Lauterbrunnen being located in the valley, it allowed my wife and I to easily walk, hike and jog around this exceptional town and surrounding area. For the more active in your family, the "Air Time Cafe", across the street, offers excursions to a ski school, passes to the many ski areas, and everything from paragliding, to base jumping. The owner, Teresa, was exceptionally accommodating with our last minute changes, and even refunded a day since we had to leave early after our son missed his flight. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a little gem this place is ..... the view is amazing and it is extremely clean and tidy. We stayed in the smallest apartment, "Jungfrau" and whilst it is small, it has absolutely everything we required for a 5 day stay. Bigger apartments are available. We would love to return to Switzerland one day and would definitely stay here again. It is within easy walking distance to the train station, supermarket, bakery, butcher, cheesery and restaurants. Lauterbrennan is a beautiful village and our hostess, Theresa, could not be more accommodating and was very easy to deal with. Absolutely no problems and would recommend 100%.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The title of this review describes my feelings about my stay last January at the Chalet Horner in Lauterbrunnen. I traveled alone and stayed at the smaller Jungfrau appartment. This is perfect for 1 - 2 persons, including a small kitchennette, and everything you may need to spend joyous days in this paradise. The views from the private balcony are simply stunning and it is so easy just to spend a long time sipping a hot drink while sitting on the balcony ... regardless of the weather! Ms. Stager is a lovely hostess who kindly shares local information with her guests. I am already planning to stay at Chalet Horner during my next vacation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We visited Lauterbrunnen in October 2010 on a family tour of Europe and stayed in the studio. We all fell in love with Lauterbrunnen and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chalet Horner. The accomodation was comfortable, clean, warm and cosy. Teresa was friendly and helpful. The chalet is in an excellent location and has lovely views. We have two young boys (aged 3 and 7) who enjoyed playing in the garden and watching cog trains climb up the moutains. Lauterbrunnen was beautiful with autumn colour in the valley, and enough snow in the ski resorts for the kids to have a snow balll fight (a novelty for us)! We had only booked 4 nights and left (as planned) and drove to France. The following day we turned around and drove back to Chalet Horner to stay longer because we had all been so sad to leave!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife, two teen-aged daughters and I stayed in this beautiful quiet apartment for 3 nights in August 2010. We found the apartment and beds very comfortable and the view from the belcony breath-taking. There were no amenities lacking and the flat screen TV with satalite reception was a nice bonus. The hotel owner, Teresa, was very kind, friendly and helpful. We loved the village of Lauterbrunnen, its shops, and especially the hiking. The shops and mountain train were only minutes away from our apartment. The City of Bern, (a must see) is less than an hour's drive away. Out of the 7 weeks of travel across Europe, this was our favourite location. I highly recommend the Lauberhorn as an ideal location to anyone planning a trip to Switzerland. We are a family of four, stayed in the "Schilthorn" unit. This is a very cozy and pretty place. From interior to all the furniture, kitchen wares, bathroom, beds, are all exceptional. It kept us really warm while there was heavily snowing during our stay. And we got internet access for just a few extra SFr. We've enjoied cooking a lot at the place. Supermarket is just almost on the other side of the road. This unit is not spacious, but we had a friend came along and still found it comfortable to move around. The owner Teresa is a very friendly person. Right from the beginning i wrote her email to enquire about the place, she got back to me really quick. She made the renting process very easy and clear to me. Also provided information like how to get to the house, places-to-go, etc. You just need to ask. The house is just 5-10mins walk from the Lauterbrunnen Train Station. So easy to get around the region. We were all glad that we had stayed there. It's a real treat!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and 3 children (8, 12 and 14) stayed 3 nights in the Schilthorn unit at the end of September 2009. The unit was very comfortable and clean. The beds were some of the best we slept in during a 40 day stay in Europe. Frau Staeger was very approachable and has put a lot of thought into the things that are important to self catering groups travelling in Europe. The small kitchen was well appointed with all the necessary cooking equipment. The only drawback was that the size of the unit meant that it was quite tight for 5 fairly large people. However, the beautiful views from the verandah and the care that had been put into preparing the property more than compensated for this drawback. During our stay in Europe this was our favourite location.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Great apartment in a lovely chalet. The apartment had everything we needed and was very clean, comfortable and well maintained. The chalet is very well situated being only a couple of minutes walk to the centre of Lauterbrunnen and five minutes walk to the train station where there are frequent trains to Interlaken, Grindelwald and Wengen. The views of the mountains and waterfalls from the balcony are beautiful and impressive just as the photographs show. It is also possible to watch the little mountain train making it's way to Wengen. Although the chalet is close to the centre of Lauterbrunnen it is set well back and therefore is very quiet and peaceful. Teresa the owner was very friendly and helpful and was available should anything be required. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at "Chalet Horner" and would highly recommend it as a lovely place to stay and a great base for exploring the surrounding area.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This property was very quiet and private, very clean and spacious. The view fromt the balcony was fantastic. Since it is self-catering, its proximity to grocery stores as well as restaurants, shops and the train station made it very convenient. One big draw back was that the mattresses were not at all comfortable and the blankets seemed to be childrens size, as my husband and I were fit just perfectly under them. A good night of sleep is something one looks for after a long day of hiking, walking and trekking. Otherwise, our stay was very enjoyable.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We stayed at this property in the studio, which was fine for the two of us. The room was very warm and had a neat view of the valley even though it is on the ground floor. The room has everything you will need during your stay as well as thoughtfull extras. It is extremely well located near to all amenities and suitable for people traveling without a car. The owner was friendly and very helpful with our questions about the area. We would definitely go back again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.

The Lauberhorn unit is an excellent choice as a base or a long visit in the Swiss Alps. It offers two rooms plus a bath in a superb location with a fantastic view. It meets well all of the normal requirements of being clean, attractive, and accessible to all the attractions of the Berner Oberland. It has our highest endorsement. Since 1998, my wife and I have used Chalet Horner as our base in Switzerland 9 times and we have reservations for our 10th visit in July. I think our repeated visits are the best indication that I can offer as a measure of our satisfaction with all aspects of the chalet itself and the location as a transportation center in a most attractive setting. The owner has worked us repeatedly to accommodate our visits, which is one reason we have returned so often. Needless to say we give Chalet Horner our highest recommendation for a vacation apartment in the Swiss Alps. Rather than talking about if we are going to visit the Swiss Alps, the question is more "When do we go to Chalet Horner?" People where I live ask me why I don't go other places in Europe. The answer is simple: We love the mountains and we have a perfectly suitable place to stay where we know we will be welcome.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
