The location of this cottage is great with some beautiful scenery, trails and a lovely beach. However the property was not up to my expectations. Although a good concept of design the place was not at all clean and i did not expect the owner to be cleaning as I arrived especially as i was not booking in until 2pm. We could not sleep in the bed as the sheets appeared dirty and about 10 years old we tried the pullout sofa downstairs that too was dirty. Its a good job we had some blankets in the car as we had to make our bed on the floor. And the bathroom was absolutely terrible we had to go out and buy disinfectant before using the toilet and what was supposed to be a shower was like something from the ark.... I could not use it. However the kitchen was clean. It is such a shame as I was so excited about our anniversary night at the cottage. I would only recommend this to a friend if they do not mind staying at a not so clean place. The restaurant at Marine Drive was awesome and very reasonably priced. We made the best of our stay because it was nice to have a break away from the city.
Owner response:We always use freshly washed all cotton sheets. This comment on that particular set is duly noted and we will retire them. We made a special arrangement for these folks for a one night stay as it was an anniversary but the cottage was occupied the night before and the check in time is 2 pm. We make every effort to keep the cottage very clean but it is a cottage in a forest and not a hotel in the city.

Highlight is the dbl bed loft with skylights and sunshine peeking in through the stainedglass window in the morning, but unless you want to spend all your time there, you will be disappointed. Toilet and shower in the same 6x3ft tiny area downstairs, which made it uncomfortable to accomplish either function. Ikea garage sale decor that is too small for two people to share and a bit grungy. Great hiking trails right behind the cabin that will take you to spectacular views of the bay but definitely not near the beach. This cabin is made for a Thoreau type weekend...with books, no T.V...since it is quiet and in the woods. 5 stars for the company I shared it with :) but I doubt we would return.
Owner response:While there is no TV reception in our area, there is an entertainment center to play DVD's, CDs, and MP3's. (recently updated). The beach mentioned is one mile of secluded pacific beach about ten minutes walk through the park trails.

Where do I begin? Cute-- check... Cozy--check... Peaceful--check... The list goes on. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Perfect Gingerbread Cottage Getaway in Point Roberts, WA. My parents joined us for a couple of days and even though the quarters became quite tight we enjoyed it, nonetheless. Pat even put up a few Christmas decorations to make the cottage more festive for the holidays--nice touch... : ) The convertible bed has seen better days but the main bed in the upstairs bedroom is quite comfortable. As well, the bathroom is VERY tiny. Somewhat like a cruise ship, the shower and toilet share the small space in the bathroom. I am mentioning this because some may wish for a full bathroom with a tub. The four of us recognized that this was a cottage and not a hotel suite so we were not detered. As has been stated, the cottage is nestled in the midst of many cedar trees with paths from the back of the cottage to various bluff lookout points and down to the beach. Ahhhh... tranquility. What a perfect getaway. Thank you, for opening up your cottage to us Pat. It was truly a pleasure.

The cabin is so charming. Lily Pt. is magical. Having the trails so near was amazing. Walk every trail! Each one is special. The micro-oven does everything. You can get fresh fish to cook at Brewsters on Tuesday and Friday. The halibut and mussels were excellent. Visit Liberty Wine Shop. The wine is carefully chosen from $5 to $20, 000. Our dog, Billy, thought he was in heaven. We saw eagles, a big owl, and black squirrels. Many thanks. The cabin was even fun in the rain.

Dear Pat, in answer to your question: we're happy! We love the cabin. The people of Pt. Roberts are terrific - so friendly and helpful and kind! It is an extraordinary place with its beaches and forests. Weather was perfect. It was a wonderful place for three friends (one from New Zealand, one from IL, and one from New York) to converge after 25 years. Thank you! On the suggestions... all good couches must come to an end sometime, and I fear that your sofa has met its final days. It's time for a new one. Otherwise, the design of the cabin is great, compact, functional - but big enough for 3 middle aged ladies <-- (also known as "women in their prime"). We'll be back! Thanks!

Sweet, adorable little gingerbread cottage nestled in the woods - perfect weather and a welcome respite from city life - we will be back! That deck and heater made for wonderful evenings - very welcoming and friendly neighbors. Brewsters is a gourmond's paradise, as is Cafe Cappana for coffee lovers - we don't want to leave! A hammock strung between the trees would be perfection - a broom would be useful - as would an extra tea towel - a barbecue is pretty essential, given that some evenings no local restaurants are open - and for the cozy winter months a simple TV stand (on wheels!) WE LOVE IT!

Your cottage was an amazing place to write. I cannot believe how much I got done and I managed to fit in some gorgeous walks as well. Saw herons, eagles, rabbits, birds, cows, horses - beaut, love. The rain and wind were welcome friends as well. The cottage is perfect. I'll be back in the summer with my boys in tow. THANK YOU!

It was a restful location but the conditions we found in the cabin caused us enough concern that we talked of leaving and returning to home immediately. As a result we spent time a portion of each day out of the cabin. There were an accumulation of matters, the greatest of which was the lack of cleanliness: The cabin was not swept or vacuumed adequately. Upon entry we observed dirt on the floor and rugs. The dust under the bed had accumulated in several large dust balls. Dust was under all the furniture upstairs. The mouse droppings were evident in the cupboards and in the silverware container. We did not see any mouse traps or any other means to eliminate these mice from the house. The dishes and silverware were not properly washed. Grease was on the first two plates I took from the cupboard as well as several pieces of the cutlery. We were required to wash the dishes and cutlery we needed to use for our meal. The BBQ was not cleaned from its last use and I did not seek to use it due to the rusted out state of the burner. We had planned to BBQ a meal as the website stated a BBQ was present but it was not in working shape for meal preparation. The washroom / shower facility was heavily marked with active mildew on the door and lower tiles. I have no idea of the nature of fungus or the likes that could be easily passed on from the tile flooring. The toilet has not been properly cleaned (I will spare you the details). All these issues are resolvable by someone taking responsibility to confirm the cabin is properly prepared for the incoming party. That did not happen for us.
Owner response:The cottage is always fully cleaned with fresh high thread count cotton sheets and towels. It is vacuumed and swept throughout. I often wonder what is to be gained by looking under beds for dust. I, for one, do not spend a lot of time under beds. I much prefer being on top of them. I live next door and I always try and check in to see if things are ok. While I did not speak specifically to this guest while they were at the cottage, I do remember them and they did stay for their entire vacation and did not mention to me any problems at the time. It must be remembered that the cottage is in a rural forested setting and so those desiring 'hospital clean' might not be fully satisfied.

This morning woke to a symphony of rain on the metal roof and window panes. We're all "hoyglee" ("cozy" in Danish) inside this sweet cabin with its Scandinavian-simplicity. Why it's built so thoughtfully with tile along the diminutive staircase, wood-framed French doors and Bay windows - all which maximize the light and create a cherry little "boat-like" cabin in a sea of ferns. Lovely indeed! And to add to this experience - miles of woods and bluff trails leading to a long beach flecked with the white shell bits of ancient midden sites. It's no wonder, this place feels welcoming. This peninsula whose thumb pokes into Boundary Bay has been inhabited for 1000s of years. Thank you for this restorative stay!

Thanks for a great time! The cottage is so cute and a great alternative to camping (ewww). We all had a great time at the beach and watching Seinfeld and playing "Rummy" (I won as you can see on the page before) (HAHA!). We will be back in the summer. Suggestion: make it more clear on Craig's list you do have a monitor to watch movies (which was AWESOME). Discoball would be great above table (haha!)
