We knew this was going to be a fantastic vacation right away from the moment we booked this rental. Brenda, the condo owner, is beyond helpful with great communication through email-- even sending us the weather outlook for our week in Puerto Rico. Upon landing in San Juan, we were met by a member of Brenda's family at our rental car pick-up place and followed him into Loiza and then to the condo. The second we opened the door, we knew we were in love. The pictures do it justice-- it's just as roomy and big as the photos make it look. We had five adults staying and we were able to make it work easily. Our favorite part of the condo, by far, was the roof-top patio. This being the top unit, you have basically an entire extra floor of space to inhabit. We spent most of our time in the condo on that rooftop, lounging in the chairs and on the couch. The grills on the roof were also a fantastic touch as I was able to grill out several times through the week. An now-- the beach. We've stayed at many inclusive resorts and tropical destinations, and I have NEVER had the beach to myself. That's right-- we had the entire beach to ourselves at least two of the days we were there. And the water was so much fun to jump into... The waves were not too big, but also not too small which made for a lot of fun. When you were done in the water, you could climb up into one of the beach chairs (the condo has several to use) and just imagine you were on a deserted island. We hope everyone enjoys the inflatable water loungers and boogie board that we left behind! They are FUN to use in the water! The pool area was nice also; while they were not deep, the pools were well-maintained and there was never a problem finding an available chair to lay out in the sun. We also like the covered patio where we could sit and have a drink or a bite to eat. I really don't have any negatives to talk about with this rental. The only downside it that it's not exactly close to any shops or what-not, but it's about a 10 minute drive to get to the Wal-Mart or grocery store if you need anything. But that distance from everything else is what makes this property such a gem! If you are thinking about staying Puerto Rico-- with easy access to San Juan, El Yunke, and Fajardo: STAY HERE!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great stay at the penthouse condo. Everything we could need was there for us - dishes, towels, relaxing furniture (especially on the top deck), and other kitchen utensils. This allowed us to cook breakfast and lunch at home and only go out for dinner. We even flew a kite on the beach one day - the beach is a short walk from the condo and was beautiful for swimming/sunning! The condo is centrally located between San Juan and Fajardo, where you can take the ferry to Culebra or Vieques. Good snorkeling is in Culebra or some of the other little islands off the coast of Fajardo. The El Yuenque rainforest was only a 30-40 minute drive and old San Juan was about the same (in the other direction). We hiked the Big Tree trail (about 20-30 min.) to La Mina waterfall and enjoyed a cool dip in a secret pool above the falls. The condo was clean, organized, and just what we expected from the pictures. My only suggestion would be new pillows. Otherwise, it was everything we wanted and needed! Views of the beach were spectacular and on the other side of the condo you looked out into the mountains/rainforest. Brenda and Lars kept in close contact with us, especially during a challenging trip down, which landed us there a day later than expected. They were extremely helpful in ensuring we safely arrived at the condo by providing turn-by-turn driving instructions. While Loiza isn't a typical tourist destination, we enjoyed being in a more local atmosphere where we could see true Puerto Ricans enjoying time with their families, road-side stands selling fresh produce, and even some farm land! It was fun to encounter all of the wild animals like the dogs, roosters/chickens, and iguanas. We never felt bothered by them; they helped contribute to the authentic experience. We ate at Soleil, which was a romantic outdoor bar/restaurant in Pinones (about 20 minutes west of Loiza). We were one of only three groups there so the service was good and food was decent. We also ate in Old San Juan one night by the cruise ship dock and had fantastic tapas and sangria as we enjoyed the warm evening breeze outside. We also had no trouble driving around the area - despite some interesting Puerto Rican driving (we dubbed it "turtling" since the cars seem to just mosey on out into the street regardless of whether another car is coming). Finally - we were able to get around well with mostly English and some elementary Spanish when needed.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I frequent Puerto Rico a lot and I must say that this has been one of the most exceptional stays I have had in Puerto Rico. I travel with my family (husband and two daughters) and this time we wanted to stay someplace between the Fajardo and San Juan, well this is the "IDEAL SPOT". It is centrally located in Loiza where we had access to all of our favorite spots (the Rainforest, Fajardo, Luquillo Beach, Old San Juan and Isla Verde). There was even a great waterpark and fabulous malls driving distance from the condo. And how can I forget the Walmart!! Perfect for a family. The apartment itself is gorgeous! We were provided with fresh linens and all of the pots, pans and cutlery were clean and in tact. Ramon was an absolute doll! He met/greeted us at the airport and took us where we needed to go to pick up our rental car. He showed us where everything was located in the apartment and provided us with "Emergency" numbers in case anything went wrong. Of course nothing went wrong. My girls, 9 years old and 6 years old spent most of their time in the pool. We even had a "fish-fry" on the upstairs (outdoor) terrace. It was great! I considered it our home away from home. We are already booked for August of 2013. Monica & FamilyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This could have been a Nice Place to stay. Upon arrival person responsible to meet us was over 1 hour late. Once we arrived we In countered a Barrage of Ants on Kitchen Counter. Then we discovered the Refrigerator was Nasty. No Debris, however it had not been washed out and sanitized, leftover drippings from previous guest. The bathroom was also dirty, Bath Tub, toilet not cleaned. Late one night my niece went to Bathroom and was greeted by Gigantic Cock Roach. The bedding leaves a lot to be desired, needs replacing. The Condo has a Musty Mildew smell. Full of Mosquitos, no screens in any Windows. No Air Conditioning in Main living area, only in Bed Rooms. The owner has a policy, no refunds under any circumstance, so please think about it before you rent this place. Other reviews rave about how wonderful everything was. Marginal at best. The owner never called to see if things were going all right. We had to contact her. Never once offered any Compensation for our troubles. We were charged a $ 75.00 cleaning fee, what a Rip off. It's a scam, I guess we had to pay her $ 75.00 to allow us to clean her Place. The week we were there the Condo site was a Lil spooky . Lots of Empty Condos, And a non English speaking Guard posted at Beach entrance. Loiza is quite a bit of ways out from San Juan. Even though the Condo is gated you have to travel down a deserted looking street, you will be greeted by stray dogs and the locals come out in the evening. It is located in a poor Neighborhood. Never had a problem with the local folks, they were friendly enough. But who wants to go on vacation and be greeted by a three legged do who we named Trey.. The Beach is a Joke. It is littered with old tires and various kinds of trash. I will try to post pictures of this place. This leads me to believe the owner is posting her reviews.. So to recap, the description is not accurate. Property was not clean. Owner failed to provide good customer service. Property not recommended. Attractions are few and far between.6Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I just spent 4 days in Brenda's condo with my sister. A quick, desperate escape from winter in Washington, DC that we will definitely repeat again next year! The condo is comfortable, clean, well-equipped, and only about 30 minutes drive from San Juan. We were able to easily visit both Old San Juan in one direction, and El Yunque rainforest in the other! In between, we hung out at the pool or on the beach right behind the complex. Brenda's son-in-law met us at the car rental office and led us there -- a service we didn't expect but much appreciated! He also talked us through when we got lost on the way to drop off the car as we were leaving! It was a wonderful introduction to Puerto Rico!Did you find this review helpful? We are two newlywed couples who decided to take a getaway to Puerto Rico for a week. We wanted to not only embrace the culture but also do a vacation in a more inexpensive way - hence why we decided to rent a condo rather than stay at a resort. This condo was perfect! It is located in "not the best" part of town (we got several cringes when we told locals in San Juan or surrounding towns that we were staying in Loize) but we never ever ever felt unsafe. It was part of the adventure. The condo is incredibly spacious and fully equipped for anything you might need at all! Coolers, beach chairs, towels, boogie board, washer/dryer, toiletries, etc. All you need to bring is your clothes and buy some food to cook in the kitchen. Only thing the kitchen was missing was a dishwasher. No big deal. The bedrooms have AC but the common area does not. Turn on the fans and open the windows for a nice ocean breeze. We never felt overheated. The beach is steps away. Nice, uncrowded, clean beach. Good waves for boogie boarding. Gorgeous morning or evening walk. We made a fire one night out there as well with some driftwood we found. A bigger, even nicer beach can be found 15mins away in Luquillo. Good location - not far from San Juan (30mins), El Yunque Rainforest (about 30mins), Fajardo where you can catch a ferry to Culebra or Vieques (about 45mins), and places like Walmart within 10 mins. Brenda does a fantastic job of communicating and organizing all along the planning way. Quick to answer emails and very helpful in planning. Ramon picked us up at the car rental and showed us the way to the apartment. Secure, secluded complex. Very happy with our choice. If we return, we would definitely consider staying there again. The pictures do a great job of showing exactly what you get. No worries there. They even set up a honeymoon suite for our friends complete with rose petals, chocolate, and flowers! Awesome surprise!!! The only reason for a 4 instead of 5 star review - they were an hour and a half late to pick us up at the rental car place. Made us a bit scared as foreigners waiting, unknowingly, at someone else's mercy. Not a good feeling to start off the trip. Otherwise, our stay was fantastic! Would definitely recommend it! You won't be disappointed in this place. Well worth the money (and savings from a resort ;)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Brenda, sorry for not writing to thank you for the fantastic stay we had at your condo last month. We really enjoyed our stay there, especially the patio on top. We had breakfast there each morning! We also enjoyed watching the rain pass by and basking in the sun up there. Thanks to Ramon for waiting for our friends at the airport before showing us out to the condo. We enjoyed the fruit we bought and the alcapurrias along 187. What a fun road to drive on!! All in all we had a great stay. Thanks again, John and JulieDid you find this review helpful? Hi Brenda and Lars, We enjoyed the stay and really fell in love with Puerto Rico! I wanted to mention that we forgot to bring the front doormat in. I hope everything else was in order and left how we found it. Thanks again! We had a wonderful time at the wedding and enjoyed exploring PR. We especially loved all the very different beaches and snorkeling on Culebra. Have a great weekend!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a perfect 3 week stay in the large apartment. The rooms are nicely decorated and where fully equipped. Looking out the living room you can enjoy the ocean view. For the morning sun and barbecue in the evening we used the large roof terrace. During the day we went to the beach or used the pool in the complex. Everything is really quit, we only saw a few people in the complex, but everything is well kept (e.g. pool cleaned daily) and secure (security guard). The beach is secluded and cleaned from debris in front of the apartment complex (wood; no industry garbage for example from cruise ships like in Florida). The water is a little rough (as almost all over Puerto Rico), but I took a swim and if you feel uncomfortable (like my wife) you can use the pool to cool off. You need a car to get out. The next larger supermarket is a 5 minute drive and next shopping center (Walmart) is a 15 minute drive. Driving to San Juan takes 30 minutes (driving along the coast). A special thank you to Brenda for organizing the pick up at the airport and helping us out the last day!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

My husband & I had a wonderful time. The condo was great. Brenda stayed in touch & was very helpful. Ramon met us at rental car place, and was quite patient as we had trouble with Hertz and had to pop across to Budget car rental. Condo was well stocked with everything from Beach towels & gear to cooking utensils, a great DVD Library, maps & local info. We had a great time taking pictures of the giant Iguanas in the grassy patch down the road. Complex was quiet & clean...we had the pools & beach to ourselves, and the security guard is quite friendly as well. We shopped at the local walmart for anything we needed. Condo is in great central locale for heading into Old San Juan, El Yunque, Luquillo & Farjado. Would reccomend highly, and we are hoping to come back next year with our sister & her family!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
