It is truly amazing to wake in the houses to the jungle coming alive accompanied by the rolling surf. Almost every morning monkeys and sloths can be seen playing in trees nearby. Keep an eye out for toucans, parrots and the many species of hummingbirds found in the neighborhood. Don't be surprised if a tree frog lands on the terrace or an electric blue butterfly visits the garden during your stay.
Within 10 miles of Casa Mariposa and Casa Colibri there are more than 6 incredible beaches, two national parks with hiking trails, world class surfing and snorkeling along a very active coral reef. Sign up for canopy tours, indigenous reserve walks, rafting, yoga classes, visit botanical and butterfly gardens and go kayaking - or just relax with a good book in a hammock.

We stayed in both houses as a group of 6 for two weeks. The big house's deck is where we spent most of our time. There were comfortable chairs and a hammock. We did a lot of cooking from the kitchen right off the deck. The lot is set back from other residences so you have the sense of privacy. We felt very comfortable with the amenities there. A girl would come and clean every couple of days and there was a washer and dryer down stairs. I loved that the windows closed up solidly with shutters for safety and then opened wide for fresh air. All of the rooms in both houses were spacious with enough room for a couple of people and their stuff. It was a short walk or bike ride down to the beach. The owner was very easy to communicate with and arrange payment, arrival, etc. I would recommend both cabins for an awesome vacation on the beach, jungle, chocolate tour, jaguar rescue, eating delicious Carribean food, snorkeling, hiking, beach combing, dancing, shopping, cooking, reading, and hammocking.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.
