Or call your Adventure Advisor to arrange Cookies in the Canyon. Or have him set up the target range to test your shooting skills. Some prefer just sitting in the Gazebo next to the River and Reading a book. Maybe Relax in the River floating slowly around the swimming hole.
The cabin is fresh and cozy, one bedroom has a king bed, the other has a double set of bunk beds. The screened in porch can also sleep people. The kitchen has a fridge, small stovetop cooking, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and breakfast bar. A stackable washer and dryer is located in the bathroom. A grill is located outside the porch area next to the eating area with a large dining table.
Build a fire in the fire pit, pull out the chairs and count the stars.
It is our goal to introduce family and friends to Relax and enjoy the mountains.

Great get away
Great get away
The cabin was off the highway and the perfect little get away. We took the 4 wheeler out to tour the property. We found the Caverns, we saw a Black Bear. We fished in the little creek. The cabin was clean and stocked with all the comforts of home. We grilled out, used the hot tub each night. Just what we needed Thank you for the use of a wonderful little mountain cabin. Best Vacation Ever!
Best Vacation Ever!
Decided to take a "vacation from it all" with the kids, dogs, and extended family. What a great week-end. Jeff was there to meet us when we arrived, and took complete care of us all week-end (atv tours, shooting range, tubing in the river). Great cabin, even better outdoor kitchen! My daughter loved the goats, and wanted to take one home with her! We are "city folk", and our kids (6 & 8) were a little nervous at first, but ended the week-end having survived "The Rock", and asking to come back every year! Make sure to bring all the food you need for your visit, because you will not be leaving the property, and there really isn't anything better to do nearby. All you could possibly want to do is right there! Thanks Jeff! We will return!!!

We had an excellent time at the Rockridge River Cabin. My wife, 2 teenage sons and our dog enjoyed exploring this large property, fishing, swimming in the creek and relaxing under starry skies. The screened in porch kept most of the bugs out and ceiling fans made for nice air flow. The cabin's accommodations are rustic as advertised but quite comfortable nonetheless. Internet and a dedicated cellular access point was nice too. The gas grill is excellent for cooking large meals. Jeff was very accommodating. We stayed the week after a major heat wave and Derecho storm caused widespread damage throughout the region. Jeff cleared up downed trees and and made sure we had good access to the creek and trials. We rented his ATV for the week and everyone just had a blast. This was most worth while and I highly recommend it. I also arranged for an afternoon with Jeff's services as a range master. My boys (age 15 & 12) got their first experience using firearms in a safe and responsible environment. It was pretty amusing to see that thousands of rounds shot at aliens or bad guys on an Xbox didn't automatically translate into marksmanship in the real world. As a parent, I appreciated the learning opportunity this provided. It was fun to load the ATV with a tackle bag and cooler and motor down to the gazebo in just a couple of minutes. This way, we hit Potts Creek a couple times each day and caught Smallmouth Bass and variety of sunfish. Trout were there too, but somewhat scarce. For fly roders, a 6wt & small popping bugs were just the ticket for getting plenty of action. Trails throughout the property enabled us to access nice pools and riffles on this property. For dining out, Covington is about 20 miles away east. There are several restaurants there including a fairly good Mexican one. Paint Branch is located 10 miles west. There, you'll find a one stop general store/ family restaurant. Guests should plan to cook most of their meals however. If you want to get away from it all, this is a nice choice. Urban teenagers might find the rural location boring at first but there's enough internet and cellular accessto keep them from going cold turkey. Cooling off at the creek on a hot sumer day quickly becomes more pleasant than they might have realized and the 4 wheel exploring opportunities are a must activity each day. Bottom line, this was time well spent.

This place was a perfect place to "get away from it all." It provided the perfect, much needed getaway for my husband and I and we absolutely DID NOT want to leave! It is such a special place- so beautiful and relaxing! The owner was great to work with, very accomodating and gave us a full tour of the cabin as well as the entire grounds (even in the dark)! The cabin is small inside but the screened in porch provides a good deal of additional living space with comfortable furniture and a great view. The large king size bed in the main bedroom was fantastic and provided a great night's sleep! The property itself is wonderful- very private and fun to explore. We did venture out to Paint Bank to have lunch at the charming Swinging Bridge Restaurant but for the most part, did not want to leave "The Rock." The outdoor cooking area was great as well and we had several wonderful dinners out on the spacious deck. Finally, there is nothing better than a soak in the hottub on a cool autumn morning with changing leaves as the backdrop! If you are looking for fun, relaxation and seclusion, this place certainly fits the bill. We highly recommend "The Rock."

Do we have to leave?
Do we have to leave?
Wanna get away? It does not need to include a Southwest Airline ticket! Our first visit to "the Rock" as it is known to veterans was amazing. Upon our arrival we were personally met by the owner and given the grande tour of the cabin and surroundings. A perfect setup for a single family or multiple families, the kitchen had everything you needed (no oven, so bring the brownies!), bedrooms were well appointed, wonderful screened in porch, huge grill, beautiful deck with plenty of seating, fire pit for outstanding smores opportunities, and hot tub. There is an "emergency" TV and DVD player for the rainy days and movie needs (no cable . . . but truly not needed!) as well as Internet Wi-Fi which worked great with our I-pad. Outdoor activities were endless. From tubing and swimming in the river, to several good fishing holes (my 7 year old son caught his first, second and third fish . . ever!), to hiking, nature watching, throwing countless rocks into the river, picking flowers, star-gazing, campfires and ATVing, we had plenty to do durring our stay. A trip to the top of the mountain and the "Cookies in the Canyon" trip were highlights of our stay and only enhanced our vacation package because of the time and attention personally given to us by our adventure guide, Jeff. If you are truly looking to get away from the hectic pace of the everyday, this is definately the place to be. We highly recommend "the Rock" and are already planning our return trip.

Home away from home.
Home away from home.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner. He showed us around the cabin and made us feel totally at home. Even had homemade cookies waiting. A look and lesson on the use of the ATV's. Safety first and the cabin was ours for a whole 10 days. We ( me and my hunting buddies) had waited a year for this and we were going to make the best of it. The cabin was very comfortable, clean and well furnished. I normally bring extra cooking supplies but it was a waste of time to pack them, everthing we needed was there. After unpacking, we were able to store extra gear on the huge screen porch, we started the ATV's and off to the top of the mountain we went to explore and see the sights. The trails were easy to navigate and the canyons were remarkable. The weather didn't cooperate with the hunting but we did manage to get a line wet in Pott's Creek and the small pond. The only regret we had was having to leave. Can't wait till next year and we get to do it all over again. Hats of to the owners of Rockridge River Retreat. Plan on several trips this summer.

Mom, when can we go back to the Rock?
Mom, when can we go back to the Rock?
We had the best time at the Rock this summer! We were 3 families: 6 adults and 6 kids between the ages of 7 and 11. We split up for sleeping, some in the cabin and others in tents by the river--although when we had a downpour, we all fit comfortably in the cabin (6 adults in beds, and 6 kids in a row on the giant sleeping porch). I think everyone in our group would agree that our favorite time was when "Adventure Advisor" Jeff guided us up the mountain on ATVs, where we enjoyed a little rock climbing and a lot of cookies in a beautiful canyon. We also enjoyed some fishing, some target shooting, some petting of the goats, lots of exploring on the ATVs, lots of s'mores by the campfire, beautiful mornings drinking coffee on the porch and enjoying the view.... The kids are begging to go back, and the adults aren't going to argue! Thanks for everything, Jeff--we look forward to our next visit!

We loved our stay at Rock Ridge. The children had plenty to do to keep busy, including rafting down the river and fishing for trout. The shooting range was a big hit with everyone, as was the ATV rides around the property and up the mountain! We liked it because we were able to park our RV under the shade of a tree with a wonderful view of the River and Meadow. The cabin was clean and well stocked with all necessities and was used by other family members. Even our little dog enjoyed being with us and not left behind in a kennel! We look forward to staying there again with a family reunion. Something for everyone.
